The people in those EX3 videos are jumping at each other/on offense 100% of the time. That’s okay if you prefer that, but that shit is not streetfighter gameplay. I see classic streetfighter characters in it, yet the gameplay is anything but.
Yes SF4 has slower pace than ST, but the complaints about random ultras being overpowering are unfounded. Those shits are slow, most have to slow startup to punish a smart attack (not whiffing fierces with no thought about if they will connect or not) and the freeze before they are done is a huge warning about what is coming and you can put in your counter/jump out the way(yes most are that slow) during it.
The additional gameplay systems in games like guilty gear and EX3, those are artificial depth. True depth comes out of getting out of situations with a limited toolset, cause you gotta be macguyver with that shit to pull it off and it takes alot of practice to be able to do rather than the game already planning a way out for you and you just have to have read the manual and remember to do it.
Nothing wrong with liking other games, but to suggest that SF4 is boring compared to EX3 and then the best videos of the game up are two dudes jumping all over each other the whole match and tagging partner in for random 50% damage when jumpin lands is wrong, and suggests that person himself is shallow strategically. Some people like to plan out each movement they make in a match and what its consequences will be, and to them those videos of EX3 are very boring despite all the flashy shit going on.
Same goes for posts about Guilty Gear, Third Strike, Virtua Fighter, Arcana Heart, any game. More subsystems does not mean deeper gameplay, and if you can’t at least respect the gameplay of SF4 (not like the game, just understand and respect what is going on in a good match), then you probably don’t understand fighting game strategy in general that well either.

GGs to those I played at Waba: Marty, Branh, Slayer, Ernesto, Iceman. I was really frustrated and thinking about either quitting/switching characters, but I think I’ll just focus on my execution when my stick comes in. And thanks for cheering for me for those who did, it meant a lot!

And Jason, it was fun talking with you after dinner in the parking lot with the other guys, its really interesting to hear you talk on gameplay + adapting, I learned a lot.

Mike, I’d be interested in some 1 dollar tournaments. How about Guilty Gear, since I’m sure Marty is the only one who plays that shit even semi-competitively. I’m rusty as hell on the game, but was never good to begin with. It would be a fair game for everyone really. That idea sounds cool.
We could do Alpha 2, but I’d take that pretty handily.
I was pretty much gonna focus on SFIV, but if people want to do something else we could. And plus we could always talk to Min at Waba about running little side tourneys,since they are a day after my gatherings.
