Hey just letting the peeps Iāve talked with it about know, the person I was involved with to start another weekly (possibly ranbat) is still going forward, just with a new venue.
He is really confident, and apparently has his hands in a bunch of properties (part of an investment group).
Only thing is, heās shooting for 30 heads at least per week. I know that is a lot, so Iād need your support for it all to work out. We are still talking guaranteed pots, food, etc. Also anyone who would want to volunteer to help would be appreciated, otherwise Iāll be running the whole thing.
He works as a promoter so he is very confident about numbers, he tells me āIāll kill myself if I canāt make it work.ā Iām wary since he doesnāt know this community that well, but he has been rather successful with getting night events together and is looking to get into day traffic.
So Iām crossing my fingers.
What Iād like to know, is what would you guys like to see? The one thing I canāt speak to yet is the new venue, that wonāt be finalized until early next week.

That sounds like a great venture, and if he can take a portion of the casual crowd and convince them to join than maybe. But getting 30 people a week here in Atlanta is, in my opinion, a little to lofty of a goal if your just looking for the āhardcore gamersā of this community. To many players with to much to do and we are spread around the greater Atlanta area that transportation also becomes a favor. Waba had i think 11 two weeks ago and last week there was 14.

Yeah thatās why I am a bit worried. He says heās shooting for the casual crowd, and that he can get them. He wants me to try to get the hardcore crowd to come. So hopefully between us we can get thirty.
Personally I donāt know if he can do it. But in the meantime it would be a nice venue for players to get together and continue to level up. Heās also planning on tapping other communities (most notably the Madden and Guitar Hero communities)

As far as I know the venue should be finalized this weekend. It will be one of the venues that he also works in, so Iām guessing a bar/lounge type thing. Heās actually doing all the paperwork to make it into a legit business venture (I donāt know anything about that sort of thing).
Also trying to think of something to name it, heās making flyers and a website. I have no ideas currently. 
yo I goto dragon con every year to hit on the cosplay chicks, but ive never seen the gaming part of it. i remember hearing about some starcraft tourneys but never showed for any. let me know if you hear back from the dude you emailed.

Sorry I read your PM but I was trying to wait to see if I go the answer before replying. Heās buying six PS3ās. As far as televisions go, I still may need help Iām unsure. (I donāt know if it was the venue we were going to use that was supplying the televisions or what.)
This is moving along so quickly. Itās being named Press Start Tournaments (not the most original name in the world, but as there will be a variety of games it was the least genre specific we could come up with) and the guy has already has purchased the domain pressstarttournaments.com. (Nothing there currently).
As far as games that will be run, the only thing set in stone as of now is SFIV, Madden, and Guitar Hero. I can run any other game, but I would need to hit a certain number of heads to make it happen.
Personally Iād love to run BlazBlue when that hits, the guy who is overseeing the whole thing is a Tekken fan so I would be pretty certain that would be in.

Thanks I would very much appreciate the help of anyone who can help. Even if itās just chatting with me on AIM so I can learn more about our community since Iāve been out of it for awhile, and just teaching me anything you may know about running a tournament. I know Iām green, but I donāt want it to hurt anything as long as I can help it!

Its been averaging like 15 players each tourney, I think. You should definitely come up to Waba on sundays, and talk to metalmike about Saturdays, since I donāt want to invite anyone to his house without his consent, but Iād love to see you there. Talk to him.

ok me and eddie just got some games in marvel for like about two hours or so.i now understand why this is my weakest game and its one of the hardest for ppl to get good at. this game is so fucking random and its not like sf random. i mean one random thing breaks you in this game. i keep wondering to myself why cant i move on and get better. i also think to myself,āim gonna build a strat around that what so&so is doing.ā thats not the case because every time i go to do some thing like that i get hit by some random ass shit and it cost me the match. i even started doing random shit against eddie and i almost won like 3 times in a row. i almost beat his mag with dan,serbot and roll!!! i almost beat him with some random low tier team. this game rewards players so mashing on assist up close and waiting to counter call. no wonder sf players hate that shit cause in sf it has some random element but not to that extreme.while tvc is new and as broken as marvel. it is no were near as random as marvel. trust me i played both. marvel is the most random game ever
