Nope, if anything you’ll be choosing the best in their area if other people decide not to travel for these ‘qualifying’ tournaments. So you wouldn’t be picking the best in the U.S, you’d be picking best of regions. If anything, you’ll probably be having a set amount on each WC and EC tournaments. What about the Johnny Donuts in Idaho who think they’re one of the best in U.S? Do you think it’s fair to them if you’re not going to have a qualifier in Idaho? Making them travel? Maybe to make it fair you make a tournament in an area where people care enough to travel and have it all there, say Montana.
To add: This is just like how we decided the 5on5 at EVO. Everything you can think of is not going to be fair one way or another. It’s all about politics baby. Get over it.

Or, we could do a regional qualifier, take the top 2 from each qualifier (giving us 8), and then hold a tournament for them at GAMME, maybe taking up an hour, if that. Then, based on standings, we’ll have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 7, 7. Take the two 5’s, have them play a 2/3, and then you have your Top 5.

I’m digging the dialogue, I am interested in all the ideas on the 5v5 - the reason it is done this way actually has nothing to do with any politics or gimmicks, at least on our end. It was a simple challenge made by Triforce. He said he would like to do a 5 man team, and then I literally said, if I remember more or less the sentence “I can imagine the West Coast will be salty if don’t include them in this” Triforce replied, let them come and compete for it if they think they can take it from us.
I issued the concept as any team from the East (as in another East Coast team), West Coast, The Puerto Rican Teams (vVv Scrubs group), MidWest, South East, and Northern Teams if any that want to try, can.
Personally my original Idea was a team comprised of Justin, Sanford, Marn, Valle, Ed Ma or Ricky Ortiz or I love you Joe, those were my original choices. or potentials at least, but again the challenge was issued. After speaking with Issei about this, he helped me communicate to Daigo and Mago and the rest of the folks coming as to what would make this a real matchup. We still had (well have) a nice comfortable chunk to play with from ad dollars from this previous year that we have not used. That’s where the 5K challenge came from.
I’m digging the ideas and perhaps there is another option, I am normally the type to stick to what has been decided or promoted no matter what. I will have triforce look at this because essentially it’s his challenge.

It can be Japan Vs Usa in Sf4 & Mvc2. The hypest games as of right now…

3rd: Dont know if I was the only one, but when I went to the website. I didnt know what to do as far as registering and paying for venue. Can you explain how to do so in details.

the 5v5 should be Definetly a qualifying team… not just the picked 5 based on their names alone…
Qualifiers is a bad idea usually because its open qualifiers if you wanna hold closed qualifiers open to those who have actually accomplished something that might be good
bottom line is if nobody knows who you are by now its because you haven’t done shit aka your not that that good so sorry to the random dude in Iowa who thinks hes good…if he was that good he would of went somewhere to beast already like vvv scrub did

That’s very true. A lot of random people did come from nowhere and climb up the SFIV ladder very quickly. I’ve always had the same sentiment towards being fair to other players. Gas up the car, buy the plane ticket, get to the tournament. If you care enough, you’ll get there somehow. But with the grand scale of this event, I think opening it up to everyone in the country would be a nice idea. IDK, just brainstorming here.
so in other words… thats it… there is nobody else in the united states thats going to be good… all the top players are set for the rest of street fighter history, i agree with what jhony said on a event this big it should be open to anyone who wants to compete,

I know Flash means that he wants everyone to come, just don’t cater to those who arentgoing to go out of their way for this event. While that’s good because it shows the level of dedication some people have, it also stops a lot of people from coming. I know the tournament isn’t going to come to people, people have to come to the tournament, but if there are qualifiers for a team exhibition, it would easily generate more hype and attention for the main event.
Look at Tougeki. If there weren’t American qualifiers, do you think it would have as much attention as it does? Probaby not.
What about this: A seperate exhibition tournament for the Top 5 team I suggested before go up against Japan seperately? This might overlap some New York players since if we didn’t allow them to qualify, then the endless argument of “who’s the best?” would continue.
