GAMME has Officially Invited 5 of the Top Players from Japan!

Mago, Daigo, Issei, **Nuki **and **Momochi **to compete in a 5 V 5 Match against a 5 Man Team built by Empire Arcadia! Winner take all $5000 Prize! Triforce has agreed that if the West Coast wishes to send 5 of its best to beat Empire’s Team they can have a chance at the $5000 Prize against Japan’s Best. Japanese Iron Man Rules! (those rules will be up on the GPX Gaming Site)

**Issei **is now confirmed and able to come and attend for the challenge.

*******Announcement

We want to let the gaming community know that the Above Japanese players are here for 2 gaming events, the Exhibitions and the Best in Character event.

We have built another Tournament for the Top Players at GAMME.

Super Street Fighter IV: Top Tier Challenge - 2/3 Matches - Single Elimination - Character Lock
The Top 64 placed players from our SSFIV $5000 challenge will be allowed to enter this tournament (That’s 1st through top 49th total players 64).

These players will be able to enter this tournament $20 entry (at event) which will have the Japanese players seeded at the Semi’s level. We have 7 Players coming from Japan, our 8th spot will be filled by the Grand Champion at 2010 East Coast Throwdown. This will make for a solid singles tournament with only the best from the weekend.

This also assuages those that yearned to compete against the best from Japan in a tournament setting.

While Issei and the rest have confirmed attendance for GAMME, we have also invited Nemo to come and participate. We will let you know once he has confirmed! Thanks Issei for all your help!

We have decided to add more Street Fighter IV (PS3) Tournaments:

Super Street Fighter IV: 3v3 Team Matches - Pot consisting of 100% entries - Registration live!

Super Street Fighter IV: Semi-Pro Tournament - Post consisting of 100% entries - registration at event - Our “Low Tier” SSFIV tournament will allow the players that placed 50th or below in the $5000 SSFIV Challenge. These players will be competing against each other for another chance to determine the Top Semi-Pro players.

***End Announcement

GAMME will be developing a “Best in World” Cup Category for Character Players - We have decided that simple mirror matches will not do as we have some of the best in Japan coming down. Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez will be working with GAMME to develop the format of this particular tournament. The winner will be receiving a Cup based trophy with the information engraved on the side “Best ‘Insert Character name here’ in the World” - Example: “Best Sagat in the World” followed by the name of the player (This event will take place on Saturday - Cups will be given Sunday at Closing Ceremonies). Ryan will be working with us on programming other aspects of the show as well, which is TBA until we have the right formats for each event.

We are excited to have Gootecks working with GAMME on these events. We want the West Coast to be as hype as the East Coast when it comes to our event.

We also have a “Player’s Club” in the works in collaboration with Big E of NEC and Alex Jebailey (Googlemyname) of Orlando that we will give more info for as we develop this space at the convention.

***POT System

Most events have a standard setup - you get charged some money, they take some off the top and then put the remainder into the pot and sometimes you don’t know how much that is…That can be dirty, we don’t like dirty.

GPX does not do that. We have sponsored Guaranteed Pots - That means the amounts listed above are what your getting no matter what happens…

Example: random gaming event gets 300 Players to compete in SF4 @ $10 an entry - that means the pot is $3000 - if the event does not take anything off the top. 1st Place takes 70% = $2100, 2nd Place takes 20% = $600 and 3rd Place takes = $300. If the event takes any fees for administration that means the pot is smaller (we wont start assuming how much events take, this could take all night and I can rant for days).

GPX and GAMME will be doing the Guaranteed Pot as listed above for each tournament. AND we will also add 50% of every entry to the Pot! The remaining 50% goes to Charity ($5, broken into $1 a piece to each of these charities: Donate2life, The MS Society, Miami Children’s Hospital, St. Jude’s and Toy’s for Tots - changed from Miami Food Drive - they want cans of food, so we will do a food drive for this instead)

What does that mean?

Example - 50 people compete @ GAMME in SF4, $10 Entry fee = $500 of which 50% or $250 extra gets added to the existing $5000 Pot = $5250

Example - 300 people compete in SF4 (basing attendance numbers on some of our tournaments from Boston, Texas, Indianapolis and Florida) 300 @ $10 = $3000 50% goes to the pot. So $1500 gets added to the $5000 pot = $6500.

you guys can do the math from there:

1st Place would take 70% = $4550
2nd Place would take 20% = $1300
3rd Place would take 10% = $650

Much better for the winners.

EDIT**********

We are making a change to the Charitable Donations from Pot Entries - Tournaments without Bonus Pots will retain all the entries into the pot - GPX will make the donations for those tournaments. We want to make sure tourneys without bonus pots have solid payouts. We hope this makes everyone happy. The individual rules pages on the GAMMEwebsite will explain each individual ruleset and their donations if any into our charity drives.

End EDIT*******

We decided this is the best way to show the community we want to give them a hype tournament with real money on the line.

We will be hosting other tournaments with other pots as well DDR: SuperNova and DDR: Extreme, Halo 3 / ODST, Modern Warfare 2, etc. However, we will keep the tourney info for our event pertinent to the subject matter of the SRK boards.

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros. N64

Each Arena will have 16 Consoles for Winners/Losers Bracket Pools to utilize (total of 64 Consoles for Pools). Each Arena will also have 1 Console setup on a stage for High Profile Matches.

Each Stage will have 4 Projection Screens setup. Each Player will have a camera on him feeding to one of the projectors. 1 Projector will have the gameplay and the final Projection screen will have the Ladder displayed for the players to be guided to their pools and location (Each match will have a # that associates with a screen in their pool).

All the area’s setup will revert to Freeplay when any of the Pool matches are completed. We will soon add the layouts to the website for viewing.

Streaming from our facility is done on Fiber Optic Connections that are separate from the WiFi signal, so it won’t interfere with upstream if people are on Wifi in the hotel.

Rule Sets are all listed on the GPX Gaming Website - for the most part @ GAMME:

2/3 Rounds
2/3 Matches
Double Elimination
Individual Rules will be listed for each tournament on the website (soon)

Our Ladder and Pool System - Simplified version:

Every player will only need to look at the ladder and see a number listed for their match.

This number corresponds to the # over one of the console setups, go over to that setup and plug in your stick, check your buttons - pound knuckles with the guy next to you and begin your match…

Your pool handler (1 for every 4 screens) will take the results to the tourney official for your arena and update the ladder or answer your questions if you have any.

at which point you will see your name in the next matchup - winners/losers side with a number above representing another screen.

If your matchup is listed in GREEN - your on stage. this will be streamed.

if your match is listed in YELLOW take a seat in front of the commentators box (there will be nice cushy seats for you). Feel free to chit chat with the commentators, they might lightly interview you. but this means your up on stage next - “On Deck”

Our pool organizers will have a clipboard for themselves to make notes on the ladder as needed (gotta have a backup plan) but essentially you can follow the ladder by watching it on the 6’x8’ screen it will be sitting on.

ALL Tournaments will run:

Friday - Qualifiers / Preliminaries through to Primaries (Winners and Losers)
Saturday - Secondaries (Top 16 in a Pool) through to Tertiaries (Top 8) (Winners and Losers)
Sunday - Semi’s Through to Grand Finals

Specialty Tournaments like Japan vs America Challenge will be held Saturday at a TBA time.

More info incoming - HYPE IT UP!

I will be populating this information with Player Listings pretty soon, Please PM ME ALONG WITH POSTING IN THE THREAD (sometimes we miss the thread) with the tournament you want to be placed in.

Event Registration is now LIVE!

8 months from now?!? $5000 pot? Wtf?

WoW just WoW. Thats a damn lot. Lets do this people

this shit just fucking blew my mind.

Hello folks,

While Demarcus [GPX] will be posting most of the time for our event, I will pop in from time to time to throw in some info. We will be @ Season’s Beatings this weekend with all our friends from the East and West Battling it out.

I felt this was the right moment to make the post on the tourney since the tournament season is almost over for 2009. We plan our events 1-2 years out and make sure we have everything prepared. We work with a lot of the large conventions all over the US and we work a few outside in South America, Canada, England and Japan so we have to plan early!

No slouching here, as Yipes would put it “We keepin that shiz 100 yo, FReeeeeeeeeeeee!”

We have a lot of information on our facebook.com/gammexpo and our new beta site for the convention will be up soon - Trying to get all our Java tools up by Friday. Friend us there and join the event - We love hearing from you guys and knowing we are on track.

Our gpxgaming.net site will also start getting lots of information for the show up and running to make sure you guys have all the info you need!

We’ll see you guys in Season’s Beatings, Make it Hype.

Manny Camacho
Chairman, GAMME

GPX “We Bring the Party”

what the fuck 5000$

Won’t there be a new SF4 by next year, though?

This is going to be insane to say the least.

Don’t worry, we’ll keep it current… We put SF4 in the off chance it gets pushed back over and over like Starcraft… and KOF 2002…

ill b there for this one … ill fly to fl for a chance to win half of 10k

Triforce is getting really deep into his Fantasy Role playing stuff.

Staple Maple! Get Pumped!

You know I’m in! GPX brings dat hot fiya!

p.s.
Throw some love at TVC!!

Demarcus will be updating the post later on but we do have these titles to consider in tourneys for major guaranteed pots:

Tatsunoko v. Capcom (we’re still waiting on all the info for All Stars - we use the Japanese version right now at every other convention)
Guilty Gear XX/Accent Core Plus! (Japanese Import version)
King of Fighters: Maximum Impact Regulation A (Japanese Import Version)

We have a ridiculous amount of Naruto Titles to utilize, we are in talks with some folks that run those in the New York area, while I may not think they are tournaments on the same level as Street Fighter, Tekken, SoCal, etc. There is a community for it in the Central Florida area

We do have pretty much every Naruto title since we bring it for free play to every event we setup and the anime community treats it godlike.

We also have a ton of old shool titles that go as far back as Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct and Primal Rage. All those titles will be available for freeplay the tourneys are maintained for professional play and serious competition.

We will have sectioned off areas for those tourneys of special interest that other groups come in to run, the Guaranteed pot tourneys have sponsor dollars behind them and those will take the most precedence. ^^

Keep it Hype

ooo im in there see everyone in Orlando

yup time for money

Hot Damn, So far off but definitely something to get excited about.

I’ve been running the Orlando tourneys along with great support from local events with FACE as well. You can definitely count on our support for this.

As the event gets closer next year I’ll be sure to get you guys some News Coverage if to the not so much caring about fighting games mainstream people lol.

I actually live on Sand Lake Road. The venue is connected to the huge Florida Mall which is great.

Excellent! Looking forward to it. I’ll post next time in the area, we have a ton of events we work on in the area, we just did SpookyFest at the Wyndham this weekend. Not much or a tourney show, more gaming lounge and after parties, that whole event is Freeeeeee.
