G.A.M.M.E. - Orlando, Florida - USA VS. JAPAN! $5000+ SF4, June 4-6 2010

I’m listing the suggestions here to make sure I have them all:

*Possibly allow for qualifiers (individuals playing to gain a spot)
*Possibly allow for team based qualifiers (whole teams to gain a team spot)
*open up exhibition matches at a variety of locations (to determine best teams)

some folks believe the best players are relatively set right now, based on who is available to play and who has not played.

some folks believe never underestimate the power of chance…you might find a solid players somewhere. Consider the fact that probability also allows for solid players regardless of player pool…the chance is low, but not impossible.

so I keep things simple, no assumptions and allow for all players to participate. while this is true for all the tourney events, the 5v5 was originally a challenge request that we worked on from one group to another.

We also have it open for other teams to come in and play for that chance.

The balance on this match works for both, we have the console characters they get a Japanese ruleset.

I could potentially work with some of the other tourney organizers to setup 5v5 matches for qualifiers. perhaps Eric and Johnny can work with me on this for their upcoming events.

The way I would look at it “if” we do qualifiers, would be for the ability to take a spot at our show to compete for the chance to go for the Empire Team, if you beat them, you get the spot against the Japanese Team.

As opposed to qualify to take out the Empire team before the event occurs.

Also to do qualifiers on an individual basis to determine a 5 man team would be harder to do at this point as many of the big events in the West coast to assist in this have come and gone. We could potentially look at this for GAMME 2011 and begin those motions after GAMME 2010 ends.

What do you guys think about this?

I agree with everything you said… 100% fair and legit

I understand that Empire Arcadia owns the SF4 Scene atm no doubt, they always wining events. mad props, also what Flahmetroid said is True chances are that if you haven t placed high in any main event, your just not good, but the key word there is “Chances”

who would have though Yeb was going to take out Floe and almost take out Ed ma?

I think there should be something Fun and exciting happening, im not sure who issued the challenge, Empire to Japanese or Japanese to Empire, either way assuming Empire Challenged Japan,

any 5 man Team should be able to Challenge Empire for that 5v5 spot (offcurse if the players decide to accept the challenge or not)

So it would be for example

Team Random Avengers challenges Empire Arcadia … Empire Arcadia denies the challenge or accepts

i don’t know just putting things out there.

one little suggestion/request:

how about having a way to show the brackets (online) so people outside the venue could follow the current tournament stage?

This is something I have wanted to do for a long time…like ESPN does with their football tools (you see a football field and the positions, advances per play in real time.

While this is not in development for GAMME ( I want only tested and proven methods that we have employed over the years) I have been talking to my web developers for something along this line, and recently met some folks from a few sites like Game Krib that have some ability in this aspect and I am putting the scenario in their hands to see what can be done.

Hyperblast, the challenges will be accepted if we are talking about at Event, those all have to be declared. I am starting to more and more consider a full 5v5 competition where Empire gets seeded into the top Semi’s and every team that wants to get a chance comes in, everyone competes to get to the top spot, winning team takes on Japan.

I will be having a meeting with my staff after Thanksgiving and cover this topic, and I will put it to a vote among my tourney administrators.

I of course still want more feedback, in case you haven’t noticed - I check and reply often. ^^

Suggestion, this is a FL tournament, therefore FL is seeded too, on grounds of host, flash can be captin lol

Seeding may occur - operative word - “may” occur - Florida VSA and Orlando BarFights is on the table for me to consider some seedings and some of the other events in Florida. but nothing has come up concrete for us to really seed anyone in the State.

What about doing it like X did a few years ago for the MVC2 5 on 5. Regardless of how the team is selected, the players can be challenged for their spot if the challenger is willing to put up for a money match. Something like 100 bucks. Low enough so that people who are good can afford it, but high enough so that people who have no chance of winning won’t waste anyone’s time. It keeps the people on the team from being protected by pure politics and allows Johnny Donuts a shot if he’s willing to risk his loot for it.

That is an interesting idea, however, my opinion on something like that is someone can win at a random match like an MM a spot earned in a high profile like this is normally harder to gain, based on tournaments won and player recruitment into a team based on previous experience.

The Teams that come together can train themselves with their character makeup to earn their spot against other teams, but for someone at random to take a spot from someone over one match, seems a bit wrong. Also, the same scenario accounts for something as simple as this.

take this example.

Daigo beats Justin
Justin beats Sanford
Sanford beats Daigo

its a circular scenario, any number of explanations or theories can describe it, but in the same manner you might be a guy that can beat someone perhaps once to gain their spot but might not perform well under the conditions to the challenge and might not be able to perform at all against those competitors. Where the person whose spot he took can.

you also introduce the concept of rampant MM’s over and over to take a spot, becomes tedious and annoying.

Its an interesting suggestion, but I am safely saying is not one we would take ^^.

Thank you though

Regards,

That sounds like a good idea actually. Just make the buy in something like 100$ or maybe even more. First place gets 5K, second place gets there money back and hugs :stuck_out_tongue:

5v5 full competition sounds like mad mad fun yo

you wont make the florida team

Well whatever happens I’ll play anyone for there spot… Justin/Sanford/Marn…etc etc etc

IFC Zangief

Vegita, didnt you beat Daigo at Season’s beatings with your Gief? I thought you had, just dont remember if it was during Team matches. I knew demarcus was commentating with Seb when it happened, I was running around with flyers and stuff and I missed it.

Yeah but it was just in the team tourny… I had beat him first time around and sanford came and finished him off… We should have won the team tourny but we lost to Jwong team or should I say Jwong in the Grandfinals…

nVidia has done that for a lot of Quake Live tournaments, so it’s definitely possible.

you still talk alot for not even being able to make Miami cut

anyways its was a joke, being host has its benefits lol

oh imma make the miami cut… you can belive that

I came up with an overly simplified method to do this. I am asking Mandy to schedule our After-Con meeting tonight for AUSA and then get our meetings for GAMME going next week - Ops on Monday, Programming Tuesday, Guests and Concerts Wednesday, Gaming Thursday, Tournaments Friday. I want to cover some of the new material.

I also requested and invited Nemo (Japan: Chun-Li, SFIV) to come and participate in our event.

If you want to chat John, im on skype at the moment working on items for the event while I am still here in Maryland.

Thanks bud.

if iidx (beatmania) is there (7 key, not 5), I will sponsor 2-3 people to go down.

If I can get a few people to confirm that they will money match for a minimum of $500 or more, I will send my crew out just for this event.

if you check our website HERE it gives you a good listing of the IIDX Titles we have currently (which we are also expanding to include older titles) we are now working with DJ Dao equipment that will be out on our tour circuit next year. In our lineup of performances is DM Ashura (Who we represent and manage) and is a composer for music on Konami and Bemani titles, most recently on the TechPara album King of Techno out in Japan and . Here is a link of Track 9 on the in Japan

We are quite serious on this aspect of our gaming ^^.

GPXRoman - has recently made a post on DDR FREAK as we are starting to work on our other departments promotions. DDR will be downstairs and console titles will be upstaris, I may add extra setups for them down in the DDR Lounge. but that is for the DDR Freak forum.

Pray to the gods I don’t make our webmasters redo anything else on our site lol. So I can give it a go ahead.
