I’m listing the suggestions here to make sure I have them all:
*Possibly allow for qualifiers (individuals playing to gain a spot)
*Possibly allow for team based qualifiers (whole teams to gain a team spot)
*open up exhibition matches at a variety of locations (to determine best teams)
some folks believe the best players are relatively set right now, based on who is available to play and who has not played.
some folks believe never underestimate the power of chance…you might find a solid players somewhere. Consider the fact that probability also allows for solid players regardless of player pool…the chance is low, but not impossible.
so I keep things simple, no assumptions and allow for all players to participate. while this is true for all the tourney events, the 5v5 was originally a challenge request that we worked on from one group to another.
We also have it open for other teams to come in and play for that chance.
The balance on this match works for both, we have the console characters they get a Japanese ruleset.
I could potentially work with some of the other tourney organizers to setup 5v5 matches for qualifiers. perhaps Eric and Johnny can work with me on this for their upcoming events.
The way I would look at it “if” we do qualifiers, would be for the ability to take a spot at our show to compete for the chance to go for the Empire Team, if you beat them, you get the spot against the Japanese Team.
As opposed to qualify to take out the Empire team before the event occurs.
Also to do qualifiers on an individual basis to determine a 5 man team would be harder to do at this point as many of the big events in the West coast to assist in this have come and gone. We could potentially look at this for GAMME 2011 and begin those motions after GAMME 2010 ends.
What do you guys think about this?
