The one red flag I saw was “Every 4 ft is a screen for 2 players to use in tournaments and eventually for casuals.” Am I reading this correctly? 4 feet across sounds very very cramped for 2 players, especially for fighting games where players usually use big arcade sticks.
If you looks at most setups people are actually in a triangular space - 2 people bring roughly 4 ft across angled or aimed at a roughly 2ft space with very little spacing between them and the next screen…inches usually 6" in most cases of cramped or crowded space. making the spacing every 4 ft gives a lot more space. but then again, we will be testing this expo setup we are using for a few events before hitting our own event, so if it turns out that we need more space it will be increased.
But an easier way to look at it is, look at the norm a 6’ x 2 1/2’ table holding 3 TV’s usually - its roughly 2 Ft per screen and 2 players in the scenario I mentioned above. Realistically 4’ is double the usual space. but since we do have 3200 sq ft in reserve in space to play with outside of the setup described we will have some latitude to play with.
3rd Strike is played on PS2 Anniversary Collection or on the Capcore PS2 Import at all events. I run Capcore at my tournaments. It’s the same as the Anniversary Collection, except no SF2, just 3rd Strike. The BEST port, however, is the MAME version, obviously. However, it’s going to be a little tough to do on PC because of the amount of machines you’d need. Just stick with PS2 and you’ll be fine.
As for SFIV, PS3 is the Evo standard, so that’s what a lot of organizers use. It’s really a complete split, so just make a decision and stick with it. And for the love of everything holy, don’t use both. That ALWAYS ends in disaster.
PS2 version we have plenty. SFIV/SSFIV is definitely all PS3 - I have some folks from one group asking for 360 but we’re keeping that on PS3. never do both or multiple consoles lol. freeplay/casual sure…but not for tourneys lol
Moadib, reach out to MrWizard and try to cordinate this with their Evo lineup. Timing would be good and this could dubbed Evo south. Only downside is shinblanks FR series have been fan-dubbed Evo south in the past but never gotten the official title. Evo did recognize top placings for byes for Evo. Also, isn’t Midwest/Evo North in the same month usually?..
Hey nothing is happening in April… Usually… Big that is…
Been communicating with them and working out all the details, since 1 of the members may not be able to attend because of his work and school schedule, so I am asking for Gosho as a possible replacement, or to add him as a 6th. This will be hype, but its actually not the last item on my checklist to announce as far as the Fighter scene is involved we have some items to post in the next couple of months that if it works out will be just as awesome.
This is why we post info so early on what we’re doing, to plan effectively and get the community involved - its your show - I just put it together. You guys will make it happen.
