The thing is that there are promises that are really big attention-drawers for the tournament for people out of state, and if they aren’t delivered not only does it leave a bad taste in your mouth, it also makes it have a bad name on the tournament and future tournaments held by the establishment have a bad rep and it would be harder to trust.
I need to know something. As of right now on the eventbrite pre-reg page it says there are just over 21 hours left to sign up for any of the game tournaments.
I have not signed up yet because the pre-reg doesnt have a place to put the username/location. I was told it would be fixed by this week, and it hasn’t. So what’s going on with that? Will it still be possible to sign up for the tournament games at any point after the 21 hours, or can you walk-in and sign up?
The way the pre-reg system is set up right now is messed up, and I am not giving up my money until these issues are taken care of.
And about how the event will turn out… unfortunately I have already bought plane tickets for my gf and myself, time has been taken off work, hotels have been booked. There is no going back at this point. So I really hope that everything that was promised for this event will happen. Otherwise we’ll just go to Universal for the weekend.

I have read this whole thread AND on the smash boards which it appears the smash nation is pulling out of GAMME. Don’t believe me just check out the smash boards link that was posted earlier.
If this is truley happening than why doesn’t Manny post a schedule yet!!!?? I see everyone one else talking for him but himself.
Has anyone ever thought of suing GPX/ Manny if this doesn’t even go down. Would be the community taking action for all this false promotion and such. I for one have been keeping close watch.

We all need to chill out and think for a sec. I mean really does any of this even matter? If J-wong, Marn, Sanford, Yipes, etc. etc. Came in here and was all pissed then there would be a problem, but to be honest, none of the people typing were going to win shit so prize money means shit to them.
Look at it like this. What other tourney this year is going to pull all these top names??? EVO! That is it. GAMME is atleast trying to make something big happen for all the people that do not live in the west/central of the country. So what if all the shit they say they are goign to have happenes. This is a pro gaming site, most of us only really care to go play our games and see big names compete.
The way I see it is, as long as the date stays the same the people will come, if GPX does not have the money or all the shit they say they are going to have it only effects a very small amount of us (Most of those people are not saying anything bad about this, rather Empire is still looking to be backing this, as does ABK and Texas I would assume, along with cali not saying anything bad)
People booked flights, took time off work and will still be there. How many of you people even care about cosplay? Or Voice actors? What about J-rock bands. We play games, we care about Diago, Mango, Jwong, Sanford… Are they saying they are not comming?? I do not believe so. I have not seen anyone say anything bad that means something.
In short: Show the fuck up and I am almost positive that there will be enough TVs and systems to make a tourney happen. That is all we really give 2 shits about anyway.
I’ve been watching this thread since MLG was mentioned. As the person at MLG that has planned, booked, and operated every event since the company’s inception, I can say that I have never spoken to anyone from GAMME, nor have I ever offered anyone money to move an event in the 7 years that I have worked here.
Community growth is good for all tournaments. I really hope people do not get burned here, but please keep MLG out of this conversation.

Honestly. I’m not happy right now. I’ve read through this entire thread since its inception… Hell me and Sweet johnny cage are supposed to run the brackets for Super at this event and were told we were going to be bussed down to FLA to help run things. I’ve spoken to Manny a few times in person. I talked to him at NEC and I’ve talked to him at a Battlefield event back then he seemed like a stand up guy. Since then I sent him multiple messages and emails about working anime Boston and never got a response from him or others in his company. But I gave the benefit of the doubt and figured that maybe he was just a busy guy since GPX had been working a lot of events. But now that I’m reading this thread over and so much information is coming to light it’s just really off putting and making me very uncomfortable. I’m not sure what’s going on now about me and John going down to Fla to run brackets but I’m watching this thread very closely to see what the outcome is. Lets hope for GPX’s standing in the community that this all gets ironed out quickly and all of these promises get confirmed.

People, I’m just as pissed as everybody else is. I flew to Texas from Cali to compete in an MVC2 tournament back in March with the winner being promised a plane ticket to Gamme from this guy named “manny” (which at the time was extremely lucrative because of the ssf4 5 on 5 and the 2k MVC2 Pot). I won the tournament in Texas and to this day I have not received any booking or flight details and by the looks of this I can assume I will never receive such details.
What is a little more irritating however are all of the speculations involving MLG or if they were contacted or whatnot. Truth is the community will never entirely know (although I am inclined to believe the mlg personnel). I understand it is part of the shadyness, but in reality all we should really care about is if the event is going to happen or not. All I really care about is this guy “manny” getting on here and telling us whether we should expect only a very few of the promises that were made, if all of this did really fall apart, or if it was a big hoax from the get-go. I’m sure he has kept up to date with the thread and just doesn’t know how to “appropriately” break it to us that most of the promises that were made are not going to happen (or so it seems).

I 100% agree with what neo said above. To anybody that I offended in my previous posts I apologize. I was not aware of the shadyness manny has done in the past/present/and now future. I was told that the ticket and itinerary info will be emailed to me as soon as the event was over (March 6) and PROMISE WAS BROKEN. I did alot of research last night (3+hours worth) and found some things that I have never ever seen before in tournament history. In all honesty, everyone should have been told that he ran kunicon years ago so we could prepare for this. I would have never defended/accepted his sponsorship from a SCAM artist like him. I was reading on smashboards and the tournament thread has been nucked. This is his reason for nuking the thread then changed the name from Gamme to “Sorry Guys”:

I don’t feel like this event is going to end up being what it was originally told it was going to be to me, and I refuse to have my name involved with something sub-par.
To everyone who bought tickets:: I apologize greatly. I did not foresee this coming at all. I thought it would be a great chance to help the community but with multiple unprofessional/shady moves over and over I have to warn my community that I am no longer confident with this organization. It is my duty as a TO to provide you guys with the best possible tournaments, and this tournament is DEFINITELY not panning out to my standards.
This is my community, and even if everything I’ve thrown hasn’t been perfect, I at least try my best. I do my best to answer people’s questions and do everything I can for everything to be great. I feel helpless at this tournament and I do not feel in control at all, so i refuse to involve my name at all.
I’ve been lied to, mislead, and fabricated to over and over to the point that I don’t know what to believe any more.
What it comes down to is I respect my name and standing in the smash community more than a company I don’t trust. I have to bail out before I get in too deep, I already feel like I’m probably down $600.

All the smash players are now going to another tournament just so they dont waste there money on a empty plane ticket. For the future, I will only work with sponsors that provide paperwork/black and white ink. I will use this as a learning experience not to trust people like this. I have been receiving multiple pms asking do we trust gamme and are you going. The answer to those questions are HELLL-NOO. After the info I dug up last night, I can say I would never trust GPX Gaming/Gamme/Manny Scamming Camacho ever AGAIN! Nobody wants to lose money or be scammed especially in this recession. Too much has gone on over the past week that not only affects Joe and myself directly with East Coast Throwdown 2, but the community as a whole. The scene has nothing to go off of rather than what people like those in the empire, ABK, and other tourney heads that deal with him. If most of them are keeping their mouth shut about shady dealings or broken promisses, and then typing to defend him, only to go back on that 48 hours later, you could see how one would be confused about the politics of what is actually going on.
In short: I was only trying to get people to realize that “the community” is spoken for by a sleect group of people. Hey guys, most of you don’t know me but I’m a TO in the Smash community. I ran Pound 4 and have a very large following and a lot of trust instilled in me from my community. I decided to withdraw participation in the event and effectively withdraw the Smash community as a whole. From what I hear SSF and MvC TO’s are doing the same, people should maybe figure out an alternative.
The post above was my post from Smashboards. That is, to say the least, a very polite and discreet way of saying some of the things that I have really wanted to say.
No community deserves this deceit.
