What I dont understand is how people be trying to instigate after the problem was resolved?

I mean, the issue between mlg and gamme was discussed among themselves meaning gamme and mlg talked so why keep bringing up the same issue but add another 1 to it? Nothing was said in the beginning and now all this hate comes in to the thread. Something I dont like and will point out is that everybody was on the train when gamme first began the promo for there tournament. Everything was cool and peachy and then somebody says something/hate and everybody is against gamme.

IMO, I think thats 2 faced. Were was all of this in the beginning? I delt with an issue like that when I threw Cali Vs Texas and still had a successful turnout! Hype was getting built and then a random HATER comes out of nowere and posts nonsense. Were am I getting at, Manny we all know no one is perfect. Ignore these haters in this thread and keep pushing to have a successful event with or WITHOUT them. Haters stop posting garbage and junking up this thread. People are still going to this event so if your not, tell your boss to give you some overtime that weekend. Dont try to ruin it for others who want to attend is all im saying…

Anyone looking to attend this event should expect a world of disappointment. For those that might not know, Manny’s last attempt at putting on a large-scale event was a complete disaster for everyone who was involved or attended. But don’t take my word for it - just Google “Kunicon” and see what comes up.

Rumor has been circulating for more than a month about GAMME changing dates. Except back then it was a money issue, unrelated to MLG. Based upon the above posts, I’d said the MLG bit was just a cover up. Manny regularly talks about deals that are unconfirmed or haven’t been signed, drops names of people and companies he’s never met or worked with, and cancels things at the last minute. Hell, I don’t think GPX is even a real company. I couldn’t find it on sunbiz.org

Let’s just take a look at why this is gonna fail:

1 - Web Site - Manny’s been pimping this event for more than 6 months on this board and he can’t even get a damn website together. For an event as big as this is supposed to be where’s all the information? Yeah, tourney info is available here, but what about everything else? If you didn’t find out about it via Shoryuken or Smash Boards, you won’t know it exists. Google turns up nothing but a half-finished website. Although he had no problem setting up an Eventbrite page to take your money…

2 - Tournament Payouts - The first thing that was ever announced about this event was the big GUARANTEED tourney pots. At current count - $27,000, and that’s without a player putting in a dime. Where is all this money coming from? No sponsors have been mentioned, and I doubt Manny is putting up the money himself. This is the man who notoriously gave out grape soda as a prize at Florida Supercon. It’s been a running joke ever since.

3 - Other promises - Japanese players? Who’s flying them in? That’s another $10,000+ in expenses. 150,000 person capacity concert venue for Basshunter? Gig’s not listed on his website… or anywhere else on the internet. 100 hours of panels, 18 cosplay events, manga library & jpop lounge, maid cafe, 150+ game systems… that requires a LOT of staff. Video Games Live? It’s not on their website.

Let’s face it - for a first time event it sounds way too good to be true… Manny knows how to deliver the hype, but that’s ALL he knows how to deliver. I’m not saying that everything he claims to have is a lie. All I’m saying is that he has a long history of making promises he can’t keep. So do your research before you shell out several hundred bucks for a flight to Orlando.

So let me ask you this… YOU as an event organizer spend $$$ on promos and what not to get your event hype and no one shows up, but lets say 20 ppl when you were expecting hundreds. How successful was your event? Yeah…you keep thinking about that.

Although I was ignored the first time I posted in this thread, even with all of the confusion and hate, I’m still offering my help in running any of the tournaments (preferably Smash Bros. related ones). I do have to say that I’m surprised that a player from out of state was put in charge of the Smash Bros. related games when there’s a number of quality tournament hosts down here.

Why don’t you read the first 3 pages of this thread?

I clearly lay out these points way before any drama, these guys(gpx) were sounding way too amateurish, promising too much and sounding way too similar to the guys they were bashing(active gamers).

Also note that I said I had a big issue with TRUST but I would believe them because The Empire were backing them up, and that was their only form of legitimacy. I also mentioned their previous controversy/drama or what not. this was MONTHS before any of this mlg crap happened. So I suggest you check your attitude and review your “facts” before posting NON SENSE.

Perhaps you’re rich and don’t give a fuck if the event fails, but not everyone is like you, some people work hard for their money.

all i can say is this

I can say a few things, but I can not indulge too much since it’s really not my place or my company.
I have been around Manny long enough to know when s***'s happening and I have been around as well as talked with multiple guests that are attending GAMME (not so much players, but VA’s, etc). The hotel block is already sold out and flights for the guests have already been booked (this comes from the guests I have talked with and that I know personally).
I myself have spoke with Manny about the whole website issue and have more than once tried to bust his balls and get him moving on getting the final project out there for everyone, but alas you all know the result. I do know this though… The price to cancel this convention is TOO high and it would be just as bad for the convention not to go on as scheduled as it would be to cancel (big convention usually carry a hefty price tag for cancelling or changes to the contracts).

With that said, I will see you all soon in Orlando.

b) similarly, it’s a good idea, if you don’t understand what a word means (such as “argument” in this case) or how it’s being used, you should also probably shut the fuck up. Not to sound stupid or act as if it’s really not a big deal. People act like there not going to still attend this “TOURNAMENT” when all is said and done as long as the ournament is there people are going to still attend.
