G.A.M.M.E. - Orlando, Florida - USA VS. JAPAN! $5000+ SF4, June 4-6 2010

Just posted at Manny’s request about the Japanese players: it is updated on the main post.

*****Announcement

We want to let the gaming community know that the Above Japanese players are here for 2 gaming events, the Exhibitions and the Best in Character event. They are not going to be competing in the singles tourneys or other team tournaments. You can all feel free to MM them, but because GAMME is paying for all the expenses to bring them over they know they will be at our event as guests. I hope that helps explain a few things to you guys.

*****End Announcement

We will be including them in panels and seminars and Q&A’s.

I trust manny and his crew, and me and the Philly players will be there.

I opened dialogue among my teams and new members in our tourney administrative groups to a new idea I was given in passing during conversation last night here at the ARC. I had been talking with Brendan as well for MaGFest and one of the similarities in issue he and I have are that we want everyone to enjoy as much of the show as possible, and that means streamlining our already fast tourney process.

I wanted to throw it out there for you guys to discuss as well.

While I have my internal organizers brainstorming (email just went out) I want to see what public opinion is.

We will be opening the registration desks at the event 4pm on Thursday June 3rd. allowing pre-registered guests to get their badges and not have to worry about lines or waiting the day of the event.

with badge in hand, we are considering starting our tournaments Friday 10am. Our event officially opens 4pm with opening ceremonies and our original time frame for starting tourneys was 6PM.

Our concept here is simple, we start earlier and we can stop at semi’s or finals and run those Friday night, commentary and streams would also begin at 10am with the tournaments, it would be business as usual, but the convention itself (panels, events, concerts, etc.) do not start until their normal times.

This allows me the ability to run the bulk of the biggest tourneys ahead of time and allows for the players to enjoy the event more and have more of a gaming and industry convention experience.

Our timing on the event is after school has ended so that is not an issue, and we had expected most people arriving for tourneys to be the earliest of the arrivals. So this does not effect general attendance for the convention.

Spectating is my only concern as the bulk of the spectating is occuring from the competitors as opposed to the early on arrivals, but the finals would not occur until Friday night for those tourneys. Saturday 10am would open the smash tourneys. but this would allow us to hold all our major marquee events Saturday evening while allowing for the most amount of time for you the attendee or competitive player to participate in everything we have to offer at this event.

Dialog…GO!

Wait, so the 5 invited Japanese guest won’t be able to enter the singles tournament?

No, I had noticed some folks thought they were and were discouraged, so I wanted to repost this info - we are flying them over as guests of the event, they have 2 events to compete in,

The 5v5 and the Best in Character Matches which is under development.

:tdown:lame, niggas are so afraid to play these jap nigga. its good comp who cares. there HUMAN iam sure they can lose, thee not unbeatable.

:tup:side note: ill try and make it, should be mad hype:tup:

You and I think the same, but this was a decision we made when we made those arrangements, its because we are covering all the costs for them to come…

To me, if I am paying for all of it, it does not make sense for them to compete.

HYPE HYPE…

Excluding them sounds like a terrible thing to do, but okay I guess. Whatever makes others feel good about themselves.

Man, I wish stick modders could get sponsored and travel around like top players can. I hope to make plans to go to this.

We might do a few other exhibition based matches for them, but as far as the singles, 3v3 teams and Tougeki Standard SSFIV tourneys go, they are not allowed.

agreed, so why not let them join, hell id love to make it out to this and play my Gouken against anyone of there chars,(daigo, and mago) since thatysmy fav macth up’s Gouken vs Ryu, Sagat

agreed, lame that people are ctryoing like lil girls

Nnnnooooooooooo! :crybaby:

Having the chance to possibly play one of these players in the tournament was one of the biggest reasons for me wanting to attend. I would get destroyed, most likely, but at least I would have gotten to play them in a tournament setting.

I don’t have an issue with the guys running the event for this happening; it makes sense not to scare away participants. But it does upset me that there are enough players who are afraid to join because of stiff odds for it to come to this.

Pretty sad because I’m sure the people complaining are not even gonna get like top 100. Don’t you think you should have a vote or something asking people what they think?

I mean if you guys have already had a long discussion with top players or something that we don’t know about, please disregard what I’m saying.

yeah i agree once again, or they could just say fuck it and let them enter the tourney.

damn cnt wait for this shit, imma money match all those japs ! and go home mad broke

That’s exactly it, we have had discussions with top players both east and west coast…

The other part is everybody shouldn’t worry that their not gonna get the chance to play the Japanese guests just because they are not in the main tournaments… They will be here as guests so they will be around for matches whenever they are free…

That actually frees more people up to play rather than the possible people in the tournament… We actually might make an event out of it…

You guys are just retarded who want them in the main tournament, just another excuse to be like, “the only reason why I lost was because I played a jap, why did I have to face them first/second round, I flew across the nation for this bull”

Most of you guys already say that when you have Wng first round, don’t make this tournament all about excuses

They are here to have fun and show us how they play, I’m pretty sure if u want to play them money matches are always open to them *refer to diago give me that u.s. dollar pics

So hell if u want to play them, bring cash

your right, id love to get some casual’s in with daigo. Gouken vs Ryu epic…

It’ll be something else, that’s for sure…

we cant get these japs to show up at evo (except daigo) but they show up to some florida tourney? Damn. Cant wait to see this.
