Future of Nintendo? Bright.. or Dark

You can just turn the nob and turn the 3D off… now you just have a 3DS with beastly games… yay…

I got some quality time with the 3DS and the games are damn good… the new mario kart is pretty sweet… it’s a console experience on the go…

The 3D feature is painful to the eyes but it’s kind of cool… and optional… in comparison to the ‘tap’ gimmick, the 3D is pretty fucking sweet… furthermore, game companies don’t even have to design their games around it(I don’t even think they can)… it’s just a game system in it’s purest form…

I’m thinking about purchasing one someday…

DmC(the homo dante edition) and SFxT(conflicted between a collectible card game and a fighter) tried to be different… does that mean anything? As long as a cliched formula is done well, then the game that results from it is good… point blank period…

Because these types of games are over-saturating the market means that the game design is poor or something?..

I just don’t see your point…

What the fuck are you talking about?

I never purchased a Wii for third party games, I purchased it for Nintendo games. I have a PC/Xbox/PS3 for potential third parties and first party games I might like.

And yes it has run out of games because it was designed as a 5 year systems and it’s the 6th year now. After Skyward Sword I expected nothing else from the system.

Family friendly isn’t why the Gamecube didn’t sell all that well. Both GC and Xbox both “failed” about the same but Xbox had the adult content.

They would probably be around where the Playstation brand is - lost more money in this generation than they ever made in the previous two.

That said I think Nintendo did ok.

Gameplay does come first.

One of the best game’s I’ve played this generation is Plants vs Zombies. Wow that technology.

If you like your derivative Hi-def FPS that keep devolving the gameplay to suit noobs or whatever, then enjoy.

They did? Are you a developer?

They’d be losing money due to production costs, for very little gain. Just like their competitors.

LOL, are you for real? Quality hardware? Hardware that dies randomly, hardware that kills your disc if you ever tilt the console is quality hardware? RRODs and YLODs are quality hardware?

As for quality games, meh. It seems like the PS360 mainly panders to open world and FPS fans. I’m not too big into those so i’m sorry if I don’t see the overwhelming advantage PS360 has over Wii. I agree that the Wii library is lacking, but i’m of the opinion that this gen is pretty lacking overall besides the handhelds

This is the third time ever on SRK, that I have felt compelled to do this:

brofist

Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt using SRK Technology.

It’s not until you actually try to sell this stuff to people looking for specific interests that you understand the flaws and strengths of each console.

Wii had great titles on it but the cold hard truth is that it WAS missing out on a ton of shit and there’s no argument around that. For every great exclusive the system had it was missing out on at least 2-3 great 3rd party effort games because of the lack of power the system had. That being said though do you realize how hard it is to sell a good non M rated title on the 360 that more than one person could play in the same room? Everytime someone comes into my store and asks me that question and I look over the walls and it kills my brain (Also if you guys have any suggestions to that question I’m more than open to hear it. I’m sure there has to be something out there and I’m just not thinking about it.) There are so many shooters and western RPGs on the PS3 and 360 that I had bought either of those 2 systems first I would have bought a Wii just for something different. I still stand by if you buy one of the HD consoles and a Wii you’re pretty much set to catch most of the must have games this generation.

Ehh it’s like saying “SF sucks”. A whole franchise isn’t one single entity. Some SF titles are awful, and some are masterpieces.

nintendo needs to stop making mario spinoffs. just how many versions of mario kart do we need.

MovieBob would be proud of this thread.

I, however, am not. Too many sweeping assertions for my taste. Hell even the false equating of non-Japanese games to “mostly FPSes” again.

Too much stupid for me to process.

Abort, Retry, Fail?

Beastly games? Like what? Seriously? Get real. Name me a game worth getting the 3DS for. I’m looking for an excuse to buy one.

My argument concerning the 3D was that the developers have to waste potential resources to ensure it can work in 3D. Sonic Generations is like BEGGING to look better. And have actual 3D gameplay.

Monster Hunter? For me that would be the only reason I would buy a 3DS.

Alright the ‘no games worth getting a 3ds for’ comment I’m just going to jump over. There really isn’t a ‘waste in resources’ to render the game in 3D. The 3DS does most of the work for that. Also Sonic Generations on the 3DS was rushed…(no pun intended?).

My fave Wii games are Xenoblade Chronicles, Little King’s Story, and FF IV: the after years.

Don’t be intentionally dense man, the lack of developer support has been pretty apparent, you can see it in the lack of the third party support for the Wii across the board…Oh wait, you only play Nintendo games on the Wii anyway, so maybe you haven’t noticed?

LOL, are you for real? Initial hardware releases always have problems, even going back in the days of the original NES with its crappy cart connectors refusing to boot up a game. Even the first Wii models, i’ve had friends who bought one on launch only to have them start screwing 6 months or so later, not loading up a game consistently, random freezes, etc. Had to get them replaced.

Being that such hardware issues are only natural and effect everyone, that argument is null & void. PS3 & 360 consoles circa 2008 have been pretty solid with most of the bugs worked out also. I have a friend with an old style x-box arcade bundle from late 2008, and even though he kinda treats it like crap, it always worked fine.

So yeah…quality hardware.

How can you say this gen is lacking? Every console generation has its share of memorable titles that makes their mark in gaming history, and this one is no exception. So many amazing titles.

Quite a sizable chunk of which are 3rd party…and i don’t think i need to tell you which console was left out of the party on most of them…

Anything that can destroy your disc isnt Quality.

Anything that freezes and or refuses to consistently boot up a game isn’t quality either. So i guess that means the majority of gaming consoles ever made are crap.

While i never played Brawl, i was with my friends that did after we were done in SFIV or Marvel. Lost count how many times a Brawl session was cut short because the Wii suddenly started spazzing out. Not too mention other games they wanted to play, but the Wii mysteriously refused to load them even though the disc looked fine.

Every gen and console is guilty of hardware problems.

Nintendo should just make a “super nostalgia box” that would be a console that looks like a Nintendo eating a super Nintendo. It would have an hdmi port and wireless controllers, plus every good nintendo game, remastered in hi def, on one gigantic, shiny cartridge shaped like the triforce with a mustache. Sell the whole thing for like 700 bucks. Everybody’s happy.

Dude, come the fuck on. Every gen has NORMAL hardware issues, and then you have retarded shit like people being on their 5th xboxes cause this hardware fails way too frequently. No other console has such an astoundingly high rate of failure, you are either a fanboy or retarded if you think this shit is normal.

Why? There’s some solid games but nothing worth jumping on a whole new system for. and yes having to render the image twice takes more power than just once. So… waste of power.
