Future of Nintendo? Bright.. or Dark

and the focus of that game was using waggle. If the focus wasn’t waggle controls, Nintendo would have done a good job with it

well to be realistic (I hate that word) to be mindful the truth is not everyone has money or the passion to spend money on games, it’s usually a choice for most people. which is why people investing in the wrong console makes them butt hurt

if we were more critical minded we would rarely waste our money on wrong choices, and we wouldn’t be saving our money for gears of war 3 or call of duty 100

Perhaps, I only put a few hours into the game didn’t seem that different from the first two. I’ll re-visit the game so I can be sure, there is a good chance I will agree with you afterwards. What I did play the waggle control seemed to work well. The level design overall didn’t seem to suffer in the first few hours. I do know however that good level design can be done with waggle controls. Waggle is not the bad guy people make it out to be. Poor/lazy developers are.

Considering your Princess Peach hentai avatar I don’t think you’re delivering an objective opinion.

You’re not delivering an object opinion either. Your anti Nintendo rhetoric is preventing it.

Absolutely. The thing is I’m not trying to be objective. I hate Nintendo with a burning passion and that fuels all my rhetoric. I want Nintendo to burn in hell and make no apology for being biased. The key thing is that I’m not pretending to be unbiased, I openly admit everything I say is full of hatred. I just hate it when obvious fanboys pretend to be objective despite the fact that it’s clear they’re deluded.

LOL… okay.

Sure sign that some people need real problems in their life.

LOL… what? Hurt my feelings? When did that happen? Did I say something that sounded like I got my feelings hurt? Does anyone actually read my replies? I feel like I could type some “lorem ipsum” stuff in here and people would reply to it with their own projections.

Go go gadget internet logic!

Not everyone… but enough. I’m in an age bracket where most of the people I know have had all of this generations consoles at one point, if not all at the same time. If you’re talking about the discretionary income of 14 year-olds… then sure, it’s a choice; however that’s not reflective of the entire market. Certainly every company wants their product to be considered the “best,” so they try to show what they have compared to the “other guys…” but in reality, those differences are causing the “upper end” of the market (i.e. people who can afford more than one console) to get them all because of said differences. Mind you I’m not a “buy every console on day one” kind of person… but by the end of each generation, I generally have had them all at one point. I got my 3DS after the price drop… I have 2 PS3’s; I bought a 360 close to launch, then sold it, then bought a used one from my friend later on… now it’s not currently plugged in because my gaming focus has been more PC based… while we use one of our PS3’s as a Hulu box? Why? Because I am a PS3 fanboy? Naw… it’s because I have a Bravia… and the PS3 is more convenient to control… it’s not brand loyalty… it’s apathy and laziness. A LOT of modern adult gamers choose this way. We could care less about the color of the console or what brand it has on the front. We got a Wii for Christmas a couple years ago, and we were stoked. I could play No More Heroes (awesome by the way) and my girlfriend played Epic Mickey, Ookami, Kriby… I would play Smash, Tatsunoko… etc.

While I understand why the whole brand-loyalty phenomenon exists… it still makes me shake my head. These companies aren’t going away anytime soon. Even when SEGA got out of the hardware business, they’re still here; Atari too.

It all comes down to what you want to play… not who’s manufacturing the boxes. Competition is great… I honestly wish a viable 4th player would enter the arena with something else completely new that I want to play.

Well, there is something to be said for honesty… but I will ask you this. Say tomorrow Nintendo files bankruptcy and is liquidated. How does this improve the industry? Removing games you don’t have to buy from the market will accomplish???

It will likely have a similar effect to EA buying the NFL license and shoving 2K Sports out of the Football game market… many years of a total lack of innovation. People don’t understand the value of having things that you don’t like in existence. Often times it’s the things you don’t like that spawn the birth of things you love. People are just so short sighted, and in the case of the guy you quoted… filled with blind rage that should probably be addressed by a therapist at some point.

To paraphrase one of my favorite Family Guy quotes in the spirit of that guy, it’s like he’s saying:
“Nintendo killed my father and raped my mother!”

One could make the argument that having less platforms to develop for will let developers increase their dev budgets which will result in higher quality games that stand out better.

But fuck that. I never made any statement to the effect of “Nintendo leaving will improve the industry”. I just want them to die for personal reasons. I hate their games, I hate their fans, I hate the Wii, I hate Reggie, I hate everything about them. I particularly loathe how they’re described as the polar opposite to greedy corporate game developers that make COD and Madden when they’re exactly the same except for the fact that they’re willing to spend LESS money making games because they know their stupid fans will eat them up and say they’re the best games ever. Zelda Skyward Sword did not deserve scores anywhere close to 9s and 10s, it deserved 3s and 4s at BEST. But it got high scores anyways because it bears the Zelda name. They make insane bank off nostalgic delusion and it sickens me.

See, smug self-aggrandizing pricks like the one directly above this post only serve to demonstrate my point.

LOL U MAD?

Seeeriously… you might want to get the whole rage thing checked out by a professional. It’s not healthy to have that much vitriol in your head at all times. And let’s be honest… I could give two shits about the new Zelda’s… the last good one in my opinion was Link to the Past (though Minish Cap wasn’t that bad). Most of the Wii titles were shovelware. I play my PS3 more than anything because that’s what I buy my fighting games are on. I don’t ‘hate’ any company. Blizzard/Activision are being exceptionally greedy with Diablo 3, not allowing mods so they can sell stuff in their auction house for real money… but that’s okay… know why? Because that gave us Torchlight.

My point is… sometimes the “evil greedy empires” can give rise to the little “good guys” who end up making something even better! You need to let go of your hate… no one is holding a Light Gun to your head and forcing you to waggle a WiiMote. Competition is good. You shouldn’t be angry and make assumptions based on only the information you have. That would be like me assuming you HATE DC Comics because you have a Marvel avatar… or that you’re a total tool with horrible taste because you have “Big Thug Nutz” as your signature…

… okay so I do assume that one… but I don’t care that you exist… it’s not like because I disagree with you that I want you to be vaporized or anything. I don’t HATE you… I don’t even know you? You could be totally awesome and the whole “Big Thug Nutz” thing is totally ironic (probably not), or you could have had some sort of traumatic experience as a child when you had to play Wave Race 64 at gunpoint or something… I don’t know. The point is:

Just reeeeelax.

Up yours dipshit. Opening your post with this proves that you’re not even worth this reply. Ignored.

I don’t know what anything was in that video, it was both funny and confounding.

This is what the gaming industry has looked like since last gen imo

well this has sealed the deal for me. I will be getting a Wii U this year

no offense to you, but if I could dislike this statement I would.

there being 3 consoles and PC has made online gaming completely based on TREND

there are plenty of people who would ike to play certain games online but have given up on it because of the lack of people on it. Nintendo seem to want to change things ike this so that’s why im backing it.

I love my ps3!! but I loved xbox 360’s community MUCH better, so I don’t understand why people think im nintendo biased, im actually going to give the wii I have to my younger brother in a few weeks.

im just saying im not a stupid idiot that has no idea what is happening outside of the arm holding the baby bottle

Let me get this straight.

You’re getting a Wii U for a fighting game that’s already coming out on all the other systems, (at least one of which you highly likely already own) which have already have proven themselves strongly in the online gaming infrastructure, and already have the backing of the fighting game community.

You are dropping at least $300 all because the Wii U version has a Super Mushroom in it.

You are a SMART person.

What did Nintendo do to you? So much energy devoted to useless hate.

One could also make the argument that a single console to develop on will reduce competition in the marketplace leading to a long term decline in the quality of the industry. Think if Sony never entered the market, 3rd parties in the 90’s would have suffered because of some stupid shit Nintendo pulled. The Dreamcast would have prolly bolted on the Saturn somehow or whatever. If XBox never entered the market we might not have a strong robust online sector of the game industry because MS was the 1st to make it work and work big. Yes, there were others before but MS made it big. You actually want Nintendo to stay in the industry, trust me on this. Long term less competition nearly always means a worse proposition for the consumer. Especially in a luxury goods industry like vidya games.

Okay, hang on, who ever said anything about a single console? That’s just a total ass-pull right there. Nintendo dying would leave MS and Sony to duke it out. And you do realize that for a long time Nintendo and Sega were the only economically viable companies in the whole industry, right? Then it was Nintendo and Sony.
