Who knows, I am just laughing my way back and forth through this thread ever since it was made. I didn’t contribute at all since I was too busy laughing at the flame bait all over the place. It’s like someone lighted a paper bag full of shit and threw it at a spinning fan.
PS2-eye toy anyone? PS3 move anyone? 360 kinect anyone?
im sure it will be better then PS3 move or kinect. Oh well at least I dont use really care as long as its fun.
To be honest the issue with the Wii is that it was on a complete different market from Xbox360 and PS3. It’s not like Gamecube vs Xbox vs PS2 era where the gamecube got it’s fair share of third party developers. Third Party developer didn’t get much love from wii as much as the gamecube did. It didn’t advertise as many as games like Xbox and PS do nowadays. As a result there is not many new games on Wii due to Third party going to the xbox and PS3.
It’s a shame because the truth is that Wii has a lot of gems that nobody will hype up because Nintendo only really cared for the first party titles.
Nintendo are going to keep making gimmicks because…
A. They can’t beat MS and Sony are their own game.
B. It’s separate them MS and Sony. Thus giving them a innovative appeal in the gaming market.
Honestly I hope Nintendo dies. I’m fed up with what they’re doing to gaming and if they were to go third party it would be best for everyone because that way they can just focus on making good games for everyone instead of just being lazy and shitting out one “good” game a year. And they’d have no excuse to rehash the same crap all the time, they’d have to push boundaries in their software, constantly do new things with their franchises and acknowledge the advances made by rest of the gaming world, otherwise they’ll be left by the wayside and cease to exist.
Of course I personally wouldn’t care if that happened either. They’re a prehistoric, antiquated company that keeps getting praised as representing the opposite end of the spectrum to the “boring colorless wartime shooter” when in fact their games aren’t that good either and the people who say this sort of thing aren’t aware that a middle ground DOES exist thanks to the efforts of third party developers on other systems. Nintendo keeps receiving praise as being the polar opposite of the evil greedy corporations that churn out the same Madden and Call of Duty games every year when in fact they are anything BUT the opposite.
http://www.destructoid.com/why-does-new-super-mario-bros-2-look-so-bland--226709.phtml interesting article that perfectly sums up how they have been handling the main Mario series. Galaxy 1 and 2 were excellent games that really tried to do something new or interesting in every level, while the “New” SMB series is dull as hell. I didn’t even like the original on DS, it felt too much like a fancy rehash of the first game. Keep on riding that nostalgia train, Nintendo.
These games are playing it waaaay too safe compared to how it was “back in the day”. Mostly why I stopped buying any new Mario games, they aren’t “bad”…just boring.
I think I’m the only one played Mario Galaxy and thought it was just okay. It wasn’t THAT great. I think people are so wrapped up in the idea that Nintendo is “drastically different” from the Halos and CODs of today that they over-hyped SMG as something much more than it really is.
Bright, lets be honest. Nintendo can live off their vast mascot character franchises for years to come and they focus on appealing to the casual gamer market which is more $$$ potential then if they went for the hardcore crowd
why do I feel as if I am playing Wonder Boy in Monster World instead of Mario? all their games changed in mechanics with just the brand remaining.
C’mon man, you don’t play Skyrim or Mass Effect 3 with motion sensor controls.
We haven’t really seen any of Nintendo’s first party stuff for Wii U in motion and we haven’t seen UE4’s stuff in motion either…unless you’re talking about that Zelda tech demo in which case I’d have to disagree.
Business 101 guys…
If a game 1 makes between 6 million and 11 million and you put your better effort and development time in it then have game 2 that’s far more simpler and makes 28 million to 26 million in sales, then what is the logical thing to do as a company? I thought the Galaxy games were far far better put people speak with their wallets. If you think Microsoft or Sony wouldn’t be doing the same thing if their franchises were as strong as Nintendo’s you’d be wrong.
Epic has come out and said UE4 hasn’t been confirmed to run on anything cept for PC
You really can’t fucking read, can you? That’s twice.
Do I need to remove you from this thread and get your mom to send you to a tutor to get your reading skills up to par?
No, it isn’t semantics you stupid fuck. Again, CONTEXT. You want to use a definition that does not apply to the conversation at hand because you do not want to be wrong. You can say “You guys hold your own meaning!” but we aren’t holding our own meaning and applying it here. We’re using the word “gimmick” in the proper context of the Wii, the same definition as what’s in the dictionary, and you’re plugging your ears and going “NO NO NO NO THAT’S WRONG”.
You are wrong. Dead ass mother fucking wrong. No amount of mental jumping jacks will make it so you’re correct. Just shut the fuck up.
It totally was a marketing gimmick. When you got wii sports and you player it for the first time, and you really got into it and did the big, dramatic motions because you thought it was the future of gaming, then the disappointment set in as you realized you could just sit on your couch and flick your wrist. Now I can only imagine all those cheap, plastic peripherals that do nothing for the game, long unsaleable are going to be buried in a new Mexico landfill.
I don’t agree with RC about the whole “controller is a gimmick” thing.
That said, how in the nine, bloody, blazing, blue hells is it so hard to see that he is using a particular, contextually accurate, connotation of the term?
Fuckssake, some people in here would argue that a clear, sunny sky “isn’t depressed.”
Fucking duh.

You’re right. I’m dead ass wrong.
Yeah I remember reading this. I think Epic haas a problem, they may need to scale back or else we may see +400 consoles.
Right next to your heart.

Thank you. Now we can move on.
