i can’t really pass judgement on the fei match up since most that i fight are mediocre. but if everything i read is true, then i can see why this would be one of juri’s worst.
All fei long has to do…spam specials. Juri cant do shit really. If he guesses right…his specials destroys her. Chicken wing spam is just funny.
I played a guy…FOUR CHICKEN WINGS!!! The fourth one worked because I went “he cant do it again” and i went for fuhajin store…
I didnt get another hit in the match.
I don’t know any strong Fei Long players. Maybe I’ll try learning him myself, so I can get an idea of what his weaknesses are. If I understood that better, it would be easier to figure out how to approach the matchup.
CW is just badly designed, its really retarded and that move alone rapes Juri for free.
I personally just go to Cody when i fight Fei, at least it doesnt feel that much of an uphill battle with him.
Fei has no weaknesses
Fei is the SSF4 character equivalent of real life Daigo. Even the hair is similar.
I believe Juri has many ways to deal with Chicken Wing. If the Fei is tossing them out like no tomorrow, you can easily stuff them with the normals Kail mentioned, you can even use cr.mk to go underneath it depending on the distance. Even EX Chicken Wing can be stuffed by your normals. I fight a particuarly Chicken Wing happy Fei all the time, and since I’m always looking out for it, I can even Ultra him right out of it. I don’t think Wing happy Fei players are a threat IMO. Even if I block a Wing, and get put in a guessing situation, I’ll just have to take that guess lol. Usually, I’ll take the safe route; block and tech. Occasionally backdash, ocassionally reversal. It wasn’t like before where if you get hit by Wing, you’d be eating an infinite and though you’d still suffer high damage if he connected with it, I don’t think that move owns Juri.
I think the Fei players who know their spacing, know their character well, have their combos down, etc are the more threatening ones.
CW is not too hard to counter. Ultra2 and the other tools make the risk not worth it for Fei.
Its kind of like a blanka ball that can’t be punished on block. Even fireballs work, as long as you don’t get predictable. Fuhajin is pretty near impossible to punish on reaction except with very fast moves, store or release separately are about as fast as Guile’s Sonic Boom.
Its the Fei’s who don’t throw out unsafe stuff that are dangerous, I can’t figure out how to beat him if he just plays solid. He can crack your d/b pretty easily, and its very hard to keep up any rushdown on him for long. And even though zoning him is the best bet, its risky enough that he can guess right once or twice and destroy you. At least it takes some skill to play Fei Long well, so not all of them are monsters.
It’s bad because cw happy feis are a pain. They get predictable but one unpredictable wing and it’s all over. It’s like a random ex banish flat from gief. You punish them all day but it’s when they throw that one where you’re like “WTF?! Why would you do that?!”. The rest of the mAtch you’re just salty that he’s in and you’re gonna lose now because of that shit.
And furthermore… The good feis are such asshole. Ha. Can’t do anything about it.
Yeah Fei is ungodly hard for Juri. It’s by far one of her worst match up. I fought a very good fei, nearly double perfect me. I couldn’t do crap. The rekkas kept me corner stuffed. His Cr.mp stuffed me hard. His CKW also kept me block stunned. This guy is impossible to fight. You have to know the match up inside and out and make no mistakes. I think that is the key to victory to be honest.
God, I hate CW.
I can live with that stupid c.MP and Rekka pressure, but I really want CW to rot in hell.
Really? I haven’t fought Fei Long much, but it’s mostly the Rekka Ken that does me in. That thing whiff-punishes insanely well.
so i was reading that the close standing strong(or cs. hp) lifts her off the ground and causes juri’s hitbox to change so stuff like rufus’s dive kick to whiff. Does it work with cammy’s dive kicks also?
Have you tested this?
It doesn’t work too well on either Rufus or Cammy, actually. It seems like it works better on Rufus, but you have to be quick.
I think I figured out a few things about the Fei Long matchup. There seems to be a good zone at about mid range where Juri can shut him down pretty well. At this distance, s.LK and s.MK both stuff Rekka Ken on reaction, and you can use focus attacks and neutral jumps relatively safely. You can also occasionally use L Senpusha, which seems to be safe on block if spaced correctly. Use c.MP or c.HP to stuff Rekkukyaku (flying kick) and cancel into Fuhajin. There’s also a distance a bit further away where he can’t hit you with the first hit of Rekkukyaku (his armor-breaker), so you can try to use that space to bait it out and absorb it with a focus attack or Kasatushi. If he starts pressuring you closer up with Rekka Ken, s.LK and s.MK don’t work too well anymore, but you can still use c.MK to beat it clean and cancel into Senpusha to get some breathing room. In general, be very careful with any pokes you throw out, since he is very capable of whiff-punishing. However, you can mix s.LP and c.LK into your poking game and punish him if he twitches, since those have the fastest animations (11 and 12 frames, respectively) and don’t extend Juri’s hittable box much.
Went to the lab on FeiLong, found some new tech im trying to apply. Expect a video at some point today or tomorrow, its going to be really useful.
good stuff guys, I’m gonna try and compile all the Fei info here into a write-up of some sort to put it in the first post. I’m gonna be waiting for the vid Metallicmike. Hopefully it’ll be helpful for understanding the matchup better.
We really need to fill up the rest of the Matchups coz the first post is hella empty right now.
What happened to DJ Divine and D Dollars?
Alright done:

lol i hate recording in standard def, until i can find a component to VGA converter box for cheap enough thats how shit is.
on to buisness:
The Setup is after a backthrow:
- Immediately store fireball
- Immediately release fireball
- Dash forwards
- Chicken wing whiffs
- Punish with HK pinwheel
Same setup can be applied to fireball store knockdowns (untechable and techable). Sweep with followup ex lk fireball. Exfireball knockdown. Probably other setups exist too, but those were the ones i noticed that worked.
The meaty fireball stops fei from throwing out a poke, if you nail a counterhit you can combo into lk pinwheel, if he blocks your safe. If he backdashs your safe. If it hits your safe and can setup a counterhit setup.
Reversal burnkick gets beat out by fireball/ex fireball. Forward dash goes under all chicken wings. Hk pinwheel punishs all chicken wings, probably can punish Lk chicken wing with something better, but i havnt yet tried.
Wow, that’s sexy. What happens if he jumps on wakeup?
