Yeah, close HP is generally the preferred anti-air whenever possible because you get the most damage from it.
Hotaru posted some great OS / safe jump info, I think we should include this on the first post.
done.
I was about to post my Sim write-up yesterday, but then i fought a good Sim for a couple of matches and noticed that I dont know shit about fighting Sim
so yeah I’m gonna move on to Gouki for now xD
if it’s online, then i can understand why you feel you wouldn’t nail the punish. and besides, cr. mp, st. mk, stuffs balls pretty easy anyway.
Do you mean that you can punish blanka balls on reaction without blocking first, or is that after a block?
you can use cr. mp or st. mk to stuff incoming blanka balls so you won’t have to block. if your worried about online timing, just use st.mk since it covers more range than cr. mp. but if you feel you don’t have the reaction to punish an incoming ball, just block and dash up lk/ex pinwheel. just practice this in training for a bit before you actually attempt this.
Cool, thanks.
went all training mode on Rufus today. Mainly looking at ex messiah kick options.
So basically to avoid it you actually have 3 options, you could counter (preferably upwards to punish on the way down), you can dash under the arc of the first kick and punish from the other side or you can cr.mk and make it go over you and punish on the other side.
If you crouch block it at close range he will jump over you at one point, you can expinwheel, far st.hp/hk and mk super that shit, if this happens in the corner, you can even do U2.
On block is awesome though, you literally have a universal option to anything he does.
After the initial block (without followup) and he doesnt have 2 meter left, just mash out U2, honestly it will hit anything, no followup, overhead, low or mid (on punish).
If you dont have U2, plink st.hp at the point where he gets to choose his followup, it hits the overhead, hits the low(doesnt trade, st.hp hitbox makes the attack miss), punishs no followup and wont comeout if he goes for block string.
If he has two meters always use the hp plink, if he goes for mid attack FADC backdash to try make it safe, you can do lk pinwheel to punish his backdash IF he didnt connect all hits of the ex messiah, otherwise you should be able to punish the FADC backdash universally with mk super.
What happens if you cmk on his wake up?
the first 2 hits of EX messiah will hit for little damage then he’ll go over you so you can punish with w/e.
ok so i posted this in the other matchup forum but i didnt get anything solid …
i looked around for juri vs feilong matchup discussions and all i could see is this
zone him out (HOW EXACTLY ?! HE GETS IN AND PUSHES U IN THE CORNER TOO QUICK)… u can cr.MP his chicken wings clean … well DUH but he wont wing u if u dont give him an opening for a wing unless hes a scrub WHAT THEN ?!!
the match up isnt just about that …
from just a bit of 1/3 screen range he shuts down all of juris special options … hell he can react to whiffed medium and hard pokes with rekka as well …
on knockdown crossups aint an option cuz of his stupid shortcut input (< > < K) he always gets it right …
i keep hearing people boasting about her st.MK from far… how is this good ? its slower than a rekka if u do it late he can react to it so whats too good about it ?
his focus attack is too damn good and his recovery on dash is also decent…
hes designed to just put u in the corner …
if you tell me counter works … only if its EX … regular counter just isnt reliable enough in this matchup (HE WONT JUMP ) and iof you do it slow enough you’re punished with a horrible combo that drains half your fricken life …
and to add to the crap of the match up hes one of the characters where if u land a cr.MK or cr.MP into LK fuha in most instances u cant follow up with another cr.MK cuz of his dumb hitbox.
if u try fuha raise he can on reaction blow it up even when he seems like hes not close enough …
i really feel like theres not much she can do in this one … its hard to keep him back …
and his command throw just adds to the hell …
honestly … what do u guys do in this matchup ? im completely oblivious …
even cr.MK doesnt push her hitbox down enough to avoid rekkas … (that makes me very sad)
plus he has a damn overhead !!
so here are a few questions …
what do you do to zone him out like you claim? … (dont tell me fuhajins cuz once the match starts n he starts walking forward thats no longer an option)
how do u punish single and double rekkas ? from both safe and unsafe range ?
is there anything that acctually works on him specificly that you know of ?
im really struggling with this one …
I personally just put down the stick when i face a good Fei, it helps me contain the anger.
our on going discussion about fei is pretty much that, like hes tied for worst matchup with honda, but with honda you have a positional advantage in the match while with fei hes in control everywhere on the screen. Honest to god pick another character, like all the other matchups although not in our favour are winnable and we have options for, but nothing works against Fei, just counterpick that shit.
Edit: Also thinking of doing a matchup video for Abel, seeing as hes my subs and i know quite a few unique tools to use in the matchup people probably wont know about.
Fei you keep him out of rekka range and punish cw with c hp. It’s not tough. You keep the purple rain pouring.
It’s about fuhajin safety. I throw a lot of mids and highs with a few lows. I’ll hold a lk in case.
Keep him at bay with fuhajins and make him use rekka or cw. This will frustrate the fei long player. I he jumps aa him. Once you’ve effectively shut everything down the match is now not in your favor.
He will start doing more random Cws and rekka and jumps to get in. Logic will be lost… And he will get in. This is where juri loses. She has no answer for his rush down. It’s too good.
This match is one of superior reads from juri. You gotta be in his mind and never let him in. Your normals have to be chosen correctly. Full screen wings you use far mk. A little further up c mp, everything else hp. Always cancel it with fuha store. Will help your zoning.
Watch out though. If you immediate release he can rekka you and win, or cw over.
You have to know when to advance and when to fall back. His normals beat yours and his rekka have great priority over you.
No dive kicks!
The flow of this match is similar to cammy.
First of all, I kinda disagree with far st.mk being ineffective against Fei’s Rekkas. The idea is that you do it preemptively, whenever he gets into that range. And far st.mk is faster than any of Fei’s Rekkas. I do the same with far st.mp, far st.mp is also faster than far st.mk, but with less range. Of course, if the Fei is adept at whiff punishing with Rekkas, you have to be careful about whiffing them. St.lk is a quick poke, starts up in 3 and decent range for what it is. IMO, when keeping out Fei, you use more of your normals and try to keep out of Rekka range, and maybe try and whiff punish them.
As for Fei players reacting to the start-up of a Fuhajin store, what are they reacting to it with? EX Wing? Regular Wing won’t work, as you can hold your fireball and stuff his Wing, but with EX Wing, you can’t do that. I wouldn’t really chuck fireballs at Fei if he’s got meter anyway and I personally only really store from very far away where I know I won’t get punished(this against any character), or during blockstrings.
Second of all, try j.lk for a cross-up, or time your cross-ups better. You can safe-jump him instead and you could probably OS safe-jump cr.mk to avoid Chicken Wing if he does it, and block if he does Flame Kick, but I’ll need to look into that.
To punish double unsafe rekkas, single light punch ones(they’re the safest) at unsafe ranges, it’s -4, use a cr.lk link if you can. For double, the safest is -6, again, use a cr.lk link, or you can go for a harder like cr.mp/cr.mk, etc, but it’s tight.
Feel free to contest this guys.
St.lk is only 3 frames up close, the far version is like 4.
HK chicken wing uses its invincibility to get through wall of purple cloud every now and again but ex version just kills it, once youve blocked chicken wing its like a 50/50 game, except in reality its more 70/30 in his favour because hes got faster normals than you, you lose 3 frame lk if youre not close enough and burn kick will always beat expinwheel, another chicken wing beats counter etc…
Also his jump in strong is god like, ambiguous and makes AAs whiff if done right on top of you. Damage output is insane, not alot of options for rekkas. Its an uphill fight, and if you play a good fei long its 10 times worse, this awesome fei i know beat my juri like somewhere between 10-20 times in a row before i got a lucky win out, and it was only because he like accidentally did a super on the final round.
Its possible to control the match when Fei doesnt have meter…but once EX CW comes into play…thats it really. Wish we had more solid options in the matchup but for now i feel more comfortable playing as someone else vs fei.
Whoops, my bad haha, sorry, you’re right, it’s not 3 frames, it’s actually 5. Still not bad IMO though. And yeah, after a blocked Chicken Wing, you have to guess pretty much.
i thought juri’s far short was like 5 frame start up. unless my frame data source is wrong.
^
No, you’re right haha.
Yes once fei gets meter he can ex wing in. But that’s why reading your opponent is important. C hp stiffs it clean.
But fei can spam chicken wings. Force you to block and now you’re boned.
