Adon I just try to keep out. I heard Juri’s c.mp beats l.jk and m.jk now. If you get a knockdown and space the sweep right you can meaty him with it and stay under rising jaguars. At least it seems to work for me. I play both but don’t tend to run into the matchup often. As for Fuerte… Let me know when you come up with something. Lol
I sometimes see Juri players dash under Adon’s Jaguar Kicks. I’ve never dared give that a try tbh. Besides zoning him and safe jumping in the corner, I have nothing on Adon. Well j.fierce and jb.mp can stuff his rising jaguars (you gotta aim for dat head)… And meaty fuhajins stuff non-EX rising jaguars. I used to pick U2 vs Adon in AE but now I got a few FSE setups vs Adon.
vs El Fuerte, instant air L/M dive kick beats his wake up EX run, EX guacamole leg throw (well it whiffs but you have time to punish him) and sometimes backdash. M pinwheel can stuff EX run but make sure you got 2 bars to make it safe if he blocks. Other than that, I do a lot of H fuhajin and j.strong in this match. And some random L Pinwheels can mess with his runs lol.
Not sure if this is common knowledge but personally vs fuerte I try to score the knockdown with cr. hk, this allows for a ambiguous jfap, if he blocks go for the back throw to set up jump in, if done correctly stuffs guacamole leg and makes ex whiff, if he knocks u down I try to forward dash on wake up to avoid splash or throw and cr hk after for knockdown, he is zoned out very easy as long as he doesn’t have meter, watch out for air throw and don’t let him take momentum
If Fuerte knocks you down I think he has an 80 percent chance to win the match right there.

went to a ae tourney placed fourth but lost one of the better rufus’ in the area. It was going well when i played sakura, but then…yeah went to juri and got murdered. Just hate him so much. Any advice to keep in mind for next time?

Rufus = keep away unless you feel like baiting his ex.Messiah with meaty c.Forward/Strong xx Fuhajin release. Punish with ex.Pinwheel. When he gets close, just counter out =\ (not up and over). If you have no meter or feel like risking a counter, risk a s.cl.Fierce instead.
Pretty much, give him dat purple rain, watch out for c. hp from afar.
Against Rufus zone and AA properly will get you far, pick U2 so if you block Ex Messiah you can use it to punish everything after it except an overhead (which U2 also beats but you have to delay it a little). When he gets in use st.cl.hp to hit him out of divekicks/grab attempts just be careful not to eat a frame trap instead. Dont rushdown too much, when you do always use a meaty low short or crouching forward, with low shorts you can OS backdashs and crouching forward goes clean under messiah kick. Never jump back on his wakeup because some Rufus players Wakeup J.Hk to try kill you ex messiah bait.
And when dealing with his ground mobility they might try one of a few things, GT through fireballs, cr.hp and roll kick. You can OS a pinwheel into cr.mk to stop GT and rolls, and storing fireballs will randomly hit his cr.hp sometimes, but otherwise you can Focus dash through it for a better punish.
Rufus is only dangerous with Ultra, otherwise Juri wins the matchup, the only way you lose the matchup is if he lands ultra, so play lame, because that ultra is stupid broken and scrubs dickride it all the time to get their wins…Ultras…bleh
I like to keep a certain fireball stocked in case I’m not super confident versus their actions. Like against Adon I’m worried about air approaches so I hold a hard and zone with the others or if I think they’ll do ground stuff I obviously keep lows for combos and just in case. What is suggested vs Rufus? He dives too fast to rely on HK I think. Keep a low and be ready to get max damage off a hit?
For rufus, I think its essential to have almost all fireballs stored. He can GT thru your mk fireball but he can also dive kick over your low. He has a big hitbox so hk fireball is more likely to hit him if he actually jumps towards you. But you also have your other AAs to keep him at a distance. There is also os tech~mp but I’m pretty sure Rufus can frame trap that easily.

Dont get me wrong i rape Rufus players ALL the time, the only reason they get away with anything is their herp derp ultra, everytime, he as a character, is whats wrong with SF.
How do people feel about the Makoto vs Juri match up? I know people said it was in Juri’s favour back when Makoto was absolute ass but given her buff’s I honestly feel it’s a hell of a lot harder these days.
When Makoto knocks Juri down she is pretty fucked. Makoto’s meaty normals stuff EX Pinwheel every time. They also stuff her backdash too, leaving Juri having to block constantly on wake up. We all know what happens when you have to block against against Makoto… cough karakusa cough.

use close forward, neutral jump more, press buttons when she’s in dash range and buffer them specials. anti air her with far forward or j.strong.
Hey guys. Thanks again for the tips. Mike i hope one day i can body rufus no prob like you. I just don’t have too much experience with that fight. If i fought that match up over and over again i’d get the hang of the subtle things. The rufus i played is very rush down heavy and zoning can’t begin unless he’s halfway across the screen.
cs.hp sounds like a good option, I’ll give it a shot when he’s dive kicking like crazy and going for that grab.
How does cr.jab sound? shit anti airs and comes out a four frames so it should hit rufus since his hit box is huge. Do you think that’s a good trade or should i stick to blocking and ex dodge when he dive kicks?
i personally think that stand jab would be the best anti air to use against him, but this is only theory, i’d have to use it next time i fight this guy. I really don’t wanna rely on sakura to fight all my battles, i’m a juri main and i’d rather use her over anyone else if push comes to shove.

c. :lp: and s. :lp: were the moves that I used to pre-empt old AE Yun dive kicks, so I’d imagine it should work. I require more testing in a vs Rufus v2012 environment however.
I did that too but it was cause Yun’s hitbox during that was smaller than his hat. I think Rufus’ is his whole fat leg. I’d have to look and I’m mobile right now so screw that.

So yeah bison is a tough match up for juri only because he has superior footsies and pressure with his cr. short (3 frames) and his scissors kicks. For a new juri player the match up can seem near impossible but do no fret Juri can beat Bison. If you ask anyone who plays both characters most Bison’s won’t know how to fight juri they just go based on the player. So when they fight a very solid juri it creates a 5-5 match up imo. The only thing bison has over Juri is more hp imo. There a few things to keep in mind when you fight bison…
Head stomp should never be met air to air unless you are 100% sure you can hit him out of it. He can stop you out the air and there isn’t anything you can do.
Ex Devil’s reverse hits twice when he follows up after the head stomp. The following works like this. Head stomp…ex devil is two hits and will break a focus attack.
On normal Headstomp to devil’s reverse you wanna do the following.
Anti air him with cr. Hp, cr. mp or move back and be cool like Juri_kills_friend! AND FAR STANDING MK THIS SON OF A BITCH!!!
Other options consist of focusing if he commits to a normal devil reverse and getting a free combo cause by you focusing you cause him to whiff the move and cause a recovery of 16 frames enough to do whatever you please to bison. You could also…
Jump at him and do j.mp or any air attack because of how open he leaves himself.
Not bad right? Oh it gets better. Remember fs.mk…use that when move backwards on him to create space.
Not only does it stuff moves like scissors kick but you also might cause him to do risky stuff such as ex psycho Crusher to cover distance. If he does that you Neutral jump hk and punish the bejesus outta him!
Remember to use that normal guys, i’m not just toting fs.mk praises, but that one normal annihilates him.
Some bison gimmicks to be aware of.
In the corner Bison likes to do two things
Teleport
and Ex psycho crusher
Teleport lets bison avoid a normal for one attack and causes you to whiff in which he’ll throw you as a punish and get out the corner. My advice is to throw safe and fast normals with fast recovery such as jab or short or a meaty one such as cr. mp or… fs.mk >.>;;;;;;;;;; just saying…
Sometimes this bastard wants out so bad he’ll burn meter and punish you for your foolishness ahahahaha!
Ex Psycho crusher is invincible on start up to normals (could be wrong) buuuuuuuut it can be wtf owned by projectiles. Ex psycho crushers properties categorize it as a projectile. This ‘projectile’ hits twice in the ex form. A move such as ex mid fuhajin (mk+hk) eats away at his projectile properties and nullifies the damage. I hope you’re on track with me. In laments terms he throws a fireball at you worth two projectiles but it’s in the form of Ex psycho crusher and you throw ex mid fuhajin which is two as well. Just making sure you’re getting it, if not private message me you crazy baby juris =o. Anyway by doing this you cause the move to whiff entirely burning his get out of jail card and opens him up for an easy punish from a dive kick.
What you could also do is jump back and try to anticipate the ex psycho crusher and try to hit it with a move or you could Empty jump cross up and eat up his charge.
Now when you’re on the ropes he will do a few things…
Scissors kick
Cross up Psycho crusher
Head stop Gimmicks
Teleport gimmicks
Frame trap
and…His far standing hk
Scissors kick: Two hits always. Lk version is the safest at zero frames. In super it used to rape juri because she could be forever stuck in the move and the best option was to take the hit to wake up with something. PLEASE DON’T FOCUS! it will armor break because it hits twice. Anything higher than the lk version is unsafe. Mk Sk is -5 on block HK SK is -8 and so is EX SK. The best punishes are a throw to send him back across the screen or cs.mp since it comes out at 3 frames. My best punish is usually a grab because he can space it to make it kinda safe but the move pushes him forward quite a bit so you can react to it.
Cross up Psycho Crusher
You’re knocked down and he does psycho crusher and you block it forward but you’re still hit by it when you wake up to block. This is cross up PC. PC cross up happens because of where most of bison’s body is and most importantly where his hands are when you are standing up to block. If his body and hands are already over your body it’s a cross up. If he does it late you can still block it normally. It’s sorta weird at first when you get hit by it a few times, but once you get the hang of how to block it it’s no big problem. Oh yeah i forgot to mention don’t focus this either it armor breaks…
Headstomp gimmicks
Bison day one stuff here. He will whiff a full screen head stomp to test your reactions. For newer juris or those who don’t know the match up well it will catch you. When he’s near you then he goes for the grab. Or at times he can Hit head stomp deep meaning he does it as late as he possibly can to catch you pressing a button. Both are very easy things to spot once you’ve seen them once.
Teleport gimmicks
Bison will random teleport to throw you off and sometimes cause a move to whiff on his wake up. From my experience most bisons don’t use teleport because the risk and reward is not worth it to him. But for those who commit to it they are doing it to confuse you and catch you off guard. He will usually follow up with a throw at worst and maybe an ex pc but that’s kinda over kill and burns his meter. Just notice if he’s teleporting don’t worry. A meaty lk fuhajin release will stop that stuff and make him respect you.
Frame trap.
cr.lk>cr.lk>cr.lk>lk SK. That’s all you need to be looking out for. It’s his best frame trap and footsie.
His far standing Hk
It’s brutal and is a great tool for him as it does everything for him. Our equivalent to his Hk is our fs. mk which is pound for pound better because ours can break a focus while his can’t and therein lies it’s fatal flaw. He’ll use this move to check you to make sure you’re block on wake up or prevent you from jumping back. If you notice bison is getting a little to happy with hk you wake up focus attack dash up and punish him. He cannot special cancel the move and is opened for an attack because the focus causes him to whiff.
More or less the fight comes down to this.
Juri must have some sort of meter
You need to make him come to you. Don’t go to him because cr. lk frame trap will prevent you from doing much. Not to mention if he has meter expect EX PC, just expect it.
Lastly control your space. Don’t let him push you into the corner and punish him for every mistake he makes. Let him eat your feet with fs. mk! That’s all for the bison 101 and if you need any more tips just pm on srk or ask questions here! GO GET THAT BIPSON YA’LL!
