wat. Have they really nerfed Rose that bad? Or is it the new hitbox on cs.mk that allows Juri to stuff EX spiral?

I’m sure I’ve tested that in AE or Super and EX spiral won everytime…

The timing is actually pretty strict. This will need a solid setup to be useful because if the timing is off you will trade with ex spiral in rose’s favor or get stuffed by ex spiral. It took me quite a few tries to replicate the timing manually in the vid i posted.

Edit: looking at rose’s frame data for ex spiral it has 11f invincibility and 13 frame startup and juri’s cl.mk’s second hit is active for two frames so that’s roughly a two frame tolerance for this setup to stuff the spiral + be safe from wakeup normals/throw. 1 frame later its a trade in roses favor and 1 frame later than that it gets stuffed by ex spiral. Assuming I’m reading this correctly.

Cant you just delay os crouch tech mp to stuff it.

Yup, Rose’s ex spiral is like juri’s pinwheel so a lot of normals can stuff it. Delayed cr.mp means you have to block if she does wakeup normals (probably into a block string) and at worst its possible she can hit you out of the startup of cr.mp into a combo. If there’s a solid timing for this cl.mk setup it will force her to just block and your pressure unless she has ultra. Its not game breaking or anything but it’s a better way to eliminate rose’s options without interrupting your pressure.

Thanks for trying. I think I may have a setup though. Forward throw -> hold up -> nj twice (don’t hit any normals in the air) -> cl.mk. Make sure you plink the cl.mk to ensure you don’t do it late. Corner only Obviously. I tried recording it a few times and it feels solid but if people want to test it please go ahead.

the ones i came up with: back throw, whiff fs.fierce, forward dash - cs.foward, store. is only a frame or so out either side. will still work if you don’t execute it perfectly. same with sweep, whiff fs.strong, forward dash - cs.forward, store. check them out anyways, i shouldn’t have edited them out :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m thinking c.s. mk buff, plus (as a Rose alt) I would say EX drill doesn’t really have that much invul to begin with.

Just do safejump os lk pw and you should beat anything she can do

Does she have any automatic safejump setups besides off of leg raise? I’m really awful at doing the manually timed ones, always feels like too much risk for the reward.

Rose reversal has like 12f startup or more, it’s piss easy to time manually

Just tried playing with OS lk pinwheel. It works perfectly if you time it properly with the leg raise safe jump timing but if you are doing it manually the timing can be off and it will trade in rose’s favor if she does ex spiral. Ex pinwheel can trade as well. Like I said I’m not great with manually timed setups but it does feel fairly strict.

I tried out your setups and what you said earlier was true, you are able to get soul thrown out of them. The reason why is because the cl.mk is late. Frames 1-6 of cl.mk are airborne and ex. soulthrow has 6 frame startup so if you are able to be soul thrown out of it you know that the timing is too late. The timing you are looking for is to the first hit of the cl.mk become active on the 2nd or 3rd frame that rose is waking up. If you are about to do this then it will stuff spiral, beat out most her normals (3rd frame setup will trade w/ cr.jab if she does it on the very first frame she wakes up), hit her if she tries to throw, ect.

Just played around with some setups off of sweep. Sweep -> lk pinwheel -> cl.mk seems like it works. It will not work if you hit the sweep near its max distance as the pinwheel won’t move you forward enough to get a cl.mk.

Gonna try some more stuff.

fs.mk -> dash -> cs.mk. This setup feels very tight, probably if you don’t get it on the first frame it will trade with ex spiral/ you’ll be air reset with cr.jab. If you end up too close to the opponent (like throwing them into the corner) you can’t use this setup

dash->cs.mp-> cs.mk. This setup is 3 frames faster than the other setup so its easier to hit. If you do it as fast as possible its I believe it may be too soon. Upside is that it will only effect how it beats ex spiral, wakeup jab/throw will still get stuffed and you cant get soul thrown. Setup works no matter how close you are after the throw.

I find it useful, I’ll definitely be playing around with it in my vs Rose game.

I covered this in regular super, better backthrow setup is Jump Forward (whiff an air normal) and close mk when you land, its alot easier. You get the same setup off of techable knockdowns on hkpinwheel and fireball store by doing Dash towardsx2 > Close mk (for both store and pinwheel), though its not as guarenteed because theres a 5 frame tech window, use at your own risk. It also catchs backdash which you havent mentioned, and to catch focus backdash you need to cancel the mk into a fireball/exfireball.

Sick, these are much easier to time than my dash setups. I love setups with jumps, so easy to just hold up to avoid any delay mistakes. Good call on the backdash, I forgot about that option. And yeah, the cl.mk is meant to be coupled with a fireball release or a store, didn’t bother adding it to the vids tho.

I didn’t make a vid for it but along with these forward throw in the corner -> nj. twice -> cl.mk is another very easy one to time vs rose.

What the hell do you guys do against Adon and Fuerte? Is there some secret tech out there that I don’t know about that will put an end to my misery when facing these douche of character designs?

get in his (adon’s) face. he controls virtually the whole stage unless you have a dragon punch and/or godlike reactions. on the latter, if you have them, low strong beat jagga kick and tooth (not ex). his dragon punch is shit, 5f - easy safe jump, can be thrown etc etc. if you block an instant air jagga kick and they have 2 bars, be careful of unsafe dragon punch fadc. he needs the air to get in for the most part, so you can get lots of j.strong juggles too. just don’t play his game, was talking about this earlier (not sure if in this thread or not).

fuerte - little to no experience, but i believe you should be in his face too as he’s only really got ex run to get out. can forward dash out of body slams and throws on wakeup, if he gets wise, will use sweep instead. that’s all i got :frowning:
