E ryu loses to both twins, but he does better than juri. i can’t really say much for ibuki but she shouldn’t do horrible vs yang, can’t say for yun though.
I think you have pressure the twins and keep them grounded. I know that teleport dash beats Yun’s dive kick I unusually do that to evade high damaging combos and his palms gets beat by Juri low fireball. You have to Zone the twins are pressure that my logic I think lol.
He has 3/4 body invincibility on 3 of his jumping moves, 2 on jump forward attacks (light punch and medium punch i think) and 1 on a neutral jumping attack (mp or hp not sure again). Its absolute bullshit, makes it practically impossible to anti air, and when u do you trade because the hurt box hides behind the hitbox (yeah its one of those jumpins too).
I had a couple of sessions against random Yun players today, seriously its too frustrating, i know i could body them if they picked any other character but the amount of offensive options is honest to God too much to deal with, i end up playing like a fucking spazz everytime jumping around trying to recreate space, but ofc that never happens. Yun ends all his combos on upkicks and starts his vortex on upkicks…come on seriously wtf…
i usually do good against the twins. one thing that i use alot is light punch anti-air for dive kicks (you can dash under them after for the mix up, dash forward and backwards would put you back in the default position). it stops the pressure for dive kicks.
Yeah if only it was as easy as “push this button to stop divekick”. Yes standing jab is practically a universal way of dealing with divekicks, that was day one how to deal with divekicks 101, but theres also ways of getting around that, angling Hk divekicks properly and doing crossup divekicks will get around standing jab, plus you never know when in their arc they are gna divekick so they can bait it, it doesnt help that st.lp is 4 frames and not 3 either.
So 30dmg on an attempted divekick is their risk, at 200 dmg + vortex/resets is their reward, its still gimped either way.
Good twin players can definitely get around the jab. Using their god almighty other air normals they can stop alot of things. Delay divekick or purposely make the divekick hit above the jab. If you can block Yun is like -3 but yang will probably be -1 or even 0. Picking up an alt is a definite recommendation when going against high level Twin players. It only gets worse up their.
Not to mention they both can swing advantage in their favor if they upkick on wakeup and you get hit. When the twins are at midrange st.lp can work but I would rather just backdash and avoid blocking the divekick altogether, or nj.HK to create pressure of my own. In tight situations standing jab just isn’t a good option, you are better off sticking out cr. mp because it will trade with some other normals, and create space. Also, you run the risk of eating a cr.MK xcombo if you are trying to predict a divekick when they are close.
I fought the same Yang player tonight twice, and beat him by zoning with minimal (fullscreen only)fuhajin storing, and cr.mk ex fuhajin hit confirms… Also, it seems like FSE is very necessary because you will rarely land j.mp x u2 against his air game and she has no other way to compete with his jump arc and normals. Maybe if my execution for FADC u2 is better I would prefer it, but right now I’d rather just run with FSE.
no need to fear, ono heard the cries of people and now ae will get rebalanced. i just hope yun/yang still be good characters after they’re done with them. it’s really hard for them to be ass with good normals, dive kick, command grab, and good super.
Played this match up yesterday, and I had some troubles hitting with C.strong when Yun was in tight. I found st.jab easier to control that dive kick, because he was doing it so close to the ground. It would seem if you st.jab Yun and make he realize that he can’t spam dive kick in your face, then he’ll switch up and do dive a bit higher allowing for you to C.strong him. I found St.jab really useful in this match still. It starts in 3f so it’s fast and also you get some mix up from the flip back. You can dash under him or make it ambiguous and go into fuhajin pressure.
I also used U2 because I haven’t really study FSE enough yet to use it. You can AA with EX dive kick if you anticipant it and score U2 that way, or if you get a hit confirm into U2 from C.forward kick, Fuhajin ( release ) FADC, Ultra. There’s definitely application for U2 in this match up. So far the match up I like FSE in is against Fei. Fei’s pokes are so godlike, and it’s hard to really score those hits. U2 still can be used against Fei as well, but FSE seems like it can help match Fei’s speed. I don’t know I have to play some more Fei matches to really test out which ultra is better.
I guess it depends on the type of Yun you are fighting. I have this idea in my head that Yun players are mixing up with normal blockstrings and doing IADK after a series of blocked normals. My thought was that if the yun is mixing up his normal block strings with the intention of a CH/Throw/Divekick game, he is going to push himself out far enough that cr.MP works well, as it will stop the walk up throw and normals and divekicks. If the Yun player is like you say, simply spamming Divekicks right in your face, I can see that st.lp would be a smart and ‘safe’ way to deal with it.
I do know that U2 has applications in the matchup, but I am much better at controlling FSE than I am on betting that I can land the FADC x u2 combo. Also, with Juris low life, I just cringe every time I miss it. The risk/reward is probably not in her favor for u2 if you aren’t confident. Level 3 FA punish is NOT fun.
I personally favor U1 against Yun, his DP can’t be FADC’d so he has to take a big risk or block and guess the mixup. After running away from Yun most of the match, it feels like poetic justice to activate FSE and get in his face for a short while.
However, if you could instant overhead Yun with j.MP like you can against Yang, I’d definitely like U2 for the matchup. It may be possible (I know j.HP works), but I haven’t had a chance to try it really.
