Eh, I’ve gotten pretty good at FSE activation to avoid throws and light attacks, or deep jump in’s. Its a HUGE risk and I don’t suggest doing it…but since I base my juri around huge risk huge reward I do that dumb shit. Taking a week off has helped me put things into perspective though.
I’ve thought about the Adon match in detail and I came up with this. Its a bad match up for juri. She has no answers for jag kicks. Dashing is a huge risk, but huge reward (my style baby) and with a good read can turn the tides. Once you take away Adons Rising Jagga, the match becomes easier…but it comes down to who hurts more…Adon does.
You can stuff Jag kicks, but the problem is a good adon is going to space is properly, and thats so that the slash hits your limb. If he goes over you, you can punish…meaning if his body is vulnerable to mp/hp. But again, most good adons will space this properly. You can Ex pinwheel through them but it has to be very late and catch them on the recovery of their attack and use your invicibility to escape the strike. Time it early, your trading or getting stuffed.
Ultra 2 is good in this match imo unless you have safe ways to enter FSE and cause Rising Jagga to whiff or get stuffed. Ultra 2 stops random toofs and kicks.
Yeah throws are two frames active. You can also FSE activate vs Focus attacks but like I said you pretty much got to be lucky enough to match their attacks active frames. For example, versus Abel, if you notice that they continually cancel their MP into COD on block you can FSE through the COD. If you notice that they use LP cod then its elementary. If you notice they use MP CoD you have to time your activation to coincide with their slower start up.(You can backdash also to make it whiff)
Versus jumping attacks/special that are active until they land its pretty much a deathwish. I use ultra2 vs Adon as well but he kicks my ass either way.
Adon matchup isnt in his favour, yeah he can blow up your reversal using frame trap Hk Jag Kick, but you shouldnt be mashing it out really. On block its -2, enough for him to stuff your counterattack with a DP but thats the one thats actually unsafe, so its all relative.
You can zone him pretty good, and bait EX jag kicks where possible with a random forward dash to get a full punish. Ex Jag tooth goes through fireballs too though, need to poke him out of it, dont U2 because thats a good way to get baited by lk jag tooth, and a equally better way of losing the match.
ok, I want to update this thread to include AE stuff, I’ll try to skim through this within the next few days to add all Twins/e.ryu/Oni MU info to the OP.
as for the pre-AE characters, some characters still have little to no info on their MUs so i’d appreciate it if anyone can do a write-up or some notes/tips on those matchups (you can post it here or PM it to me and ill put it in the OP).
for the already done write-ups I’d appreciate it if the people that wrote them (DJ devine, metallicmike, D_Dollars etc etc) would go over them to add some AE details (stuff that doesnt work anymore, new technology that works now, additional tips etc etc) so that hopefully this thread will be the only resource Juri players need to get their MU info =D
Yang is now by far Juri’s worst matchup, i cant touch him, i aint got shit on him. Theres no like Anti-Yang strategy, hes got so many defensive options and like a million ways of getting around Juri’s. Better at footsies, better walk speed, better pokes, a command grab and DIVEKICKS!!! FUUUUUU
Yea scratch out what I said before about yang being ass on wakeup. His palm is faster, with anti fireballs kicks, he has pretty good hit confirms. Hell he can U2 on reaction to Juri’s fireballs and hit. I think he has to be pretty early though like before the fireball comes out. Idk Ive had it happen to me too many times. Staying on him is hard too.
Its tough to zone someone with fast walk speeds. all hes gotta do is walk into his poking range and it gets tough. Adons wanna jump in and be stupid, fine…but smart adons just walk in and poke.
Ultra 2 all day. When he goes tot eh wall, you buffer, you see y ellow you ultra. Not that tough but I can see your point.
Thnx guys. Found a good adon player in an endless and just faced him for like an hour. Far St.mk is a godsend in this match up. I pretty much started doing what kail said right up there with the U2. Took awhile to get used to his walk speed and throws. But overall he is about a 5-5 matchup. Sometimes I would try to shrink juri’s hitbox against hag kicks. It worked once. Not recommended. Lol
Just last night a Rose tried to chip damage me as I was coming off my back. I waited a for it to reach a little closer and EXPinwheel. We didn’t trade it just ate her up ftw.
The matchups giving me the most trouble are Bison(Dictator) and Vega(Claw). I am however just starting to get used to Juri so it may have just been a more knowledgeable opponent.
Also whats up with the threads around here none of the links work, and the videos are scarce.
depends on distance, if they’re mid screen then yang can ultra 2 her once her fb is out. full screen then you’ll have to be a bit early with ultra 2. and i think the only way juri can really score much during this match up is figuring out how nullify some of his defensive options.
Yang is worse than Yun for Juri. The reason why is he takes away all of our tools. Building fireball is a risk if he spaces correctly on you. Jumping in is a no no the whole match. U2 will punish pinwheel, jumping in any direction, dive kick, dashing, focusing, and our counter move. Mike i understand your frustration. I utterly hate this match up as much as i hate fei long >=(
Thats the thing his defensive options are literally the best, theres no way of beating his DP on knockdowns like you might be able to beat an SRK with J.Hp. So you have to respect it always, which is hard because hes going to have 2 meters from palm spamming anyway, and punishing palm is way too fucking hard with divekick, always get beaten out of it.
Making his Dp whiff is hard anyway, you have to jump back (because as is the case you cant backdash it, Juri’s backdash is shit), which is beaten by just blocking or doing nothing, pressure lost. If theres a way to beat DP and maintain pressure though, id say theres hope,
You cant OS his ex command dash either, the bastard stays invincible in one spot long enough for you to pass through him in the opposite direction that he dashs. It also has fuck all recovery to punish him so its even harder to beat.
Talking about his offence, hes only -5 on block from the second mantis slash, which means if hes considered far, which will always be the case, Juri only has two 1 frame punishs for it, far lk (which you cant plink) and the first hit of far mk (which might not connect even when timed right). His divekicks have more advantage on block than Yun aswell, so he can often start block strings off of a blocked divekick, so you cant do close standing mk right off the blocked divekick to try and escape the pressure. He can space divekicks on wakeup to beat expinwheel and choose what side he hits at the same time, and then command grab gets a very honourable mention for being dirt cheap as always.
Yun on the other hand i have to admit is alot easier to deal with, Juri has options in this matchup which doesnt feel as gimped as Yang:
Low fireball beats Palm/Shouler/Lunge Punch
Cr.mk beats Lunge Punch
cr.mk beats lk/mk DP
Meaty short (OS sweep) covers HK upkicks and backdash
Nj.Hk for easy punishes on missed shoulders and (sometimes) lunge punchs
Close Standing mk for getting out of blocked divekick situations
Good punish options for whiffed upkicks
damn. i don’t know what to say though. i haven’t really faced any twin users with juri because to be honest, when they flock to yun or yang, i usually play either yang or ken. i hate to say it, but i think it would be wise for juri users to alt an character that either goes even or beat twins.
I fully agree with d_dollars. Though I find Yun to be a better matchup for Juri. I don’t know how the E.Ryu vs. Twins matchups are like but he’s who I’m currently learning next to ibuki.
I think anybody who hits like trucks can take on the twins (not neccesarily beat), easily accessible high damaging options with not too much effort minimizes the mistakes they have to make for you to win, so characters like:
