Full-time Purple Spider Lesbian: Juri Match-up/Strategy Thread

far.MP is the one that starts his palm TC right? In my testing, c.MK always beat it if he used right after a LP shoulder slam. I wonder if I did something wrong?

Alright, thats all i needed to make sure of. A 5-5 matchup is more than what I need for Sagat players. You can’t imagine how difficult this match up was for Gen, even if the Gen player knew everything. You’d have to play perfectly, and even then a single mistake could leave you dizzied and if you’re cornered… even worst. The matchup just became close to unbearable with AE. Its why I want to second Juri  That and because she fairs many times better than Gen does against Ibuki.

Ahem, how the hell do I deal with a runaway El Fuerte? This is more annoying than fighting Blanka ever was!

So how are people cracking open Oni? His little slash move is so fast it beats pretty much any kind of footsies.

I have had success stuffing Oni’s slash with standing MK.

this thread desperately needs Twins technology…

lol no one would use it, would just fall under critisizm and then get disregarded. Regardless ill post just 1 setup to give an idea of what to look for.

for Yun:

Forward Throw (Midscreen or Corner) > Dash Forward x4 > Cr.lk > Cr.lk + Cr.Hk (Must be holding down back as from the last forward dash)

If done immediately after the last forward dash the cr.lk will hit meaty, if Yun does wakeup Hk upkicks your cr.lk will whiff and you block the reversal. If Yun does wakeup backdash he gets tagged by the option-select Sweep of the next cr.lk. Loses to Ex Upkicks.

i play yang as my main alongside with juri so maybe i can help. his mk, hk, ex dp does goes through fireball during the rolling animation with ex dp being the best fireball punish since it’s faster ( 4 frame start up 31 frames throughout the rolling ). and also don’t forget his ultra 2 that was made to basically make zoners such as juri respect him. and the startup is pretty fast also seeing as it is 4 frame start up. i’ll try to dig up some tech in training mode to see how juri can fight yang since i personally believe yang gives her more trouble than yun even though it’s still a bad match up regardless which twin she fight.

i dunno how juri will be able to capitalize off yang’s wake up though seeing as he got really freaking good wake up. 5 frame dp that can be fadc unlike yun, ex teleport that is invincible from frame 1 ( think of juri’s ex counter without needing to hit her to activate it ) but keep in mind, you can grab his teleport if you expect it. and his backdash is pretty amazing.

Sweep on reaction his ex teleport. As soon as juri turns around, punish hard.

for lunge punch you can force a whiff if you c.mk. I’m not sure if you can punish…in the lab I was able to space it so yun is safe (I believe). You can get a surprise throw probably.

Standing HP is amazing at stopping dive kicks…gotta space it well though…120 damage. Yun cant eat a lot of those.

Standing mk from far away stops him very well in the air

far hk stops him from LEAVING the ground.

Jump back mk is nice for stuffing dive kicks also.

@D_Dollars: Any help with Yang is appreciated. His offense doesn’t seem as scary since he has less bullshit options and damage, but he pretty much rapes fireballs and as you said he has pretty solid reversal options. Makes me wonder how we’re gonna approach this matchup.

I don’t know about Yang, but Yun’s Dive Kick has the shittiest hitbox ever. Plus, his air-to-air game seems really weak. If you ever see him leave the ground, j.MP combo into EX Pinwheel or Ultra for nearly half his health. j.MP seems to make dive kicks whiff completely in air-to-air situations.

I’m honestly starting to think Juri owns this matchup. LK Fireballs mess his ground game completely since it shuts all of his bullshit options while zoning him and Juri seems to beat him easily in the air. He can’t build meter, can’t jump and he’s gonna take a lot of damage trying to get in - which he can’t, because his health is ass. However, If he does get in you’re in real trouble, but one good guess and he’s fullscreen away from you again - and one wrong guess can cost you the round. I go with U2 because of how easy it is to land it, plus I rarely try and pressure Yun on his wakeup since If I mess up he’s right on my face.

The more matchups i go through the more depressing this iteration is getting, it doesnt feel like anything has actually changed, all her bad matchups are still pretty damn bad, Guile, Akuma, Honda, Blanka and Fei (especially Fei) to name a few. I think the only bad matchup that got slightly better is Bison but only because of his scissor kick nerf.

Now instead theres Yun and Yang thrown into the mix, plus some matchups got worse, like Sagat, Deejay and Makoto.

My faith is kind of dwindling at this point…i cant say ive been enjoying AE that much. I dont like the changes they made to Juri, it wasnt enough, it wasnt to the standard of Deejay and Makoto, AE’s balance is shit.

100% agreeing with you man, i already hate AE coz it seems it really is top tier or die… all my mains got whacked with either shitty nerfs or shitty buffs and all their bad matchups are still horrible, if not worse…

meh, i was thinking about using Mak as a main so i might actually have to do it ~_~

Awww, keep hope up mike =(
Juri has a ton of bad match-ups, i agree with that statement, but we will learn how to deal with the twins and the newer match ups. Juri needs distance in her fight against the twins. I’m just worried what the twins will be like in a few months.

once the twins get fully explored in america, it’s gonna be pretty bad. and people are dropping their mains left and right for the twins. like recently twisted jago and hugo 101 just ditched bison for yang. in my personal opinion, i think it will be wised to have an solid alt to cover some of juri’s match ups. like i choose yang because he happens to handle most of juri’s bad match ups well ( guile, akuma, bison for example ). but i don’t think it’s impossible to just completely solo juri if your that type of guy. it’s just gonna require significant effort.

If any of us are gonna pick up alts make sure they are the twins. My main reason is not really to sub them, but learn their tactics and their moves and how ppl are countering me when i play them. And try to use that against them when i fight them. Let’s face it, the match up is free against juri, she gets blown up by the god tier characters, easily all 7-3. At that point you have to a mental edge over the characters and know their options and learn how to respect it. For yang, be careful stocking fireballs because if he reads it you get punished and you’re pretty much dead. For Yun, do not try to throw raw lk fireball stocks, ex even, or he will shoulder it and if you are in range for the hit, you’re dead. For Fei long, just give up the match if you get corner, there’s no way you’ll win…he can chicken when after the dodge to close the gap. I hate that match up sooo much, more than the twins, MORE THAN THE FUCKING TWINS!? WHY AREN’T WE WORRIED ABOUT THAT CHARACTER ><* I wanna cry sometimes when i play this game, it’s so sad how it’s turned out…;.;

I was playing my mates Yun today, he busted out some disgusting new tech that makes the matchup even more stupididly harder. Turns out during his strings he can cancel into medium shoulder, or just stop completely and then do medium shoulder, it goes right under Juri’s cr.mp, so you cant option select with medium punch to stop his divekicks, because he has a way around that. Its totally fucking lame…

I don’t even play Juri. But I been thinking of picking her up, also the name of this thread…WIN.

guess we gotta start busting out some disgusting anti-yun tech.

if you got something lemme know. The two “super pro” of my area nuked me with yun…the only time i could do something was when i had distance on them. this match up makes me wanna puke sometime. I need to practice hard to counter the twins, especially yun. I’m going to die at ECT if i can’t figure out a effective method dealing with yun.

There is no “effective” method with dealing with Yun, he has too many options, you can figure out basic counters to common tactics in training mode but the matchup will never make any sence. Watch Hsieng Chang vs Wolfkrone when it gets uploaded to youtube, saw that last night and it was out and out pathetic to watch, niether of them had a game plan past just go crazy with mixups and jump around the screen and hopefully ill win.

Theres always that one person though, “you just dont know how to fight Yun, go to training mode and stop being a pussy”, these are people that most likely play characters that can be more on par with him, Viper, Ken, Yang, Gief, Fei, Makoto to name a couple, yet im 100% sure even these types would swallow their words and get salty when Yun steals (because thats only ever what he does) their hard deserved wins from them.
