just coz it hasnt been done on you properly doesnt mean it doesnt rape Juri -_-
the reason it works so well on Juri is that no matter what move you do she’s still vulnerable to the izuna drop, I’ve grabbed Juris out of everything from Pinwheels/EX pinwheels, fireball kick, counters, FA, backdashes; only thing that gets you out is the HK super or Ultra… that is if you can get the input right ;]
yea, listen to blaze. i fought a good vega that literally killed me one round with the loop just because juri’s options is so ass. and the fact she is considered airborne during ex pin makes the loop just that much more effective. btw blaze, i messaged you something important >_>.
Then I need to learn this setup to find out what to do? essentially its just timing your izuna drop to hit meaty so that the Juri cant do anything, right?
This is true. From my experience vega can fuck juri up. In fact at a higher level of play I could see it more in his favor. A good vega player will constantly poke at you with his one frame links and easily get into his mixup of Barcelona or the other wall dive move(don’t know the name). I have a friend who plays vega and the only time I find the match easy is when I have him in the corner. Otherwise getting close can be a nightmare with his constant poking. He almost has a free jump in with his jump in fierce which has crazy priority but only because I find myself using cr.strong as an AA alot so Im not sure if cr.fierce is a good AA against him. Alsosome of his best pokes cancel into his special moves.
But I would say that the matchup is a 50/50. Juri is still a nightmare up close for Vega. But from mid-range the matchup is more in Vegas favor. From far away I would say the matchup is more in juri’s favor because she can constantly build meter easily unlike vega. I think his best way to build meter is Barcelona but I’m not sure. But Barcelona has bad recovery so I’d expect juri to be able to hk dive kick him. Maybe lol. Can’t think of anything else for the match up. But from experience the Barcelona is very effective on juri.
Yes, but notice that juri is only assed in the corner and mid screen. Mid screen you can control. Walk back a bit and now your at an advantage. Nothing Vega can do at that range is safe. Everything takes risk. Kepe him there unless you can corner him.
Once hes cornered, as everyone said…its in juri’s favor.
So dont try and out poke him and dont get cornered. Sounds like a fair match. Just because she gets raped in the izuna loop imo doesnt mean the match is heavily in his favor. In my experience, a vega is scariest when i try to get in and poke him with claws. Once his claws are off…the match becomes a lot easier mid screen.
But again, id like to hear from someone who can help me set up this izuna loop to test it. There has to be an answer.
His J.Fierce beats all AA, even cr.hp, though ud be lucky to trade.
His Cosmic heel punishs Expinwheel while it still has active frames going, it literally rips right through it, so in situations where you would Expinwheel, it out and out beats its startup.
Cr.Mk is the most unsafe move you can do without meter or fireball, he can punish a blocked cr.mk, a blocked pinwheel and a whiffed fireball store at Cr.mk’s mid to max distance with a jab to wall dive.
He gets mixup off blocking a fireball store, his jab and mp still reach you, if you jump he can air grab, if you backdash he can slide/wall dive, if you counter/FA he can scarlet terror, everytime he blocked fireball store you put yourself more at risk than you do him.
He Izuna loops for free lols.
Theres no 1 beats all OS to take out his backdash/PPP/KKK so he does still have escape/wakeup options.
He out footsies you with his godlike walkspeed + pokes, Gooteck’s shimmey all day.
Without his claw it does make the matchup easier but they can always get it back obviously. If you dont somehow get him in the corner, the matchup is for the most part out and out balls to the walls frustrating.
his Roll is safe on Block (-2), usually a s.Lk after the roll will beat whatever they’ll try to do after the blocked roll as Vega doesnt have anything faster than 4 frames and he has no invincibility whatsoever on any of the moves (including EXs).
however you can Pinwheel the startup of his MP/HP/EX Rolls, and LP one if its not in a blockstring.
Edit: ^^He beat me to it lol.
I’m not sure you can punish his roll with juri. With his back flips you can pretty much dash to him and do anything. You can avoid his The izuna drop(attack and grab part) with cr.forward. There are probably other strategies but I haven’t played super in forever.
Blanka- you have to tighten your throw teching skills because they love to throw. For his horizon ball you can dash forward and lk or ex pinwheel. And just don’t jump on him. Lots of blankas can be annoying with their electricity mashing. The smart ones will use EX up ball. Try to just be defensive and get them in the corner. They might escape but you can still get damage off and then turtle the rest of the match. Also for his U1 if blocked, you can jump forward with her strong and U2 or whatever from there. His U2 ground version, I think you could jump the first electricity then dive kick the second part and put him in the corner. I can’t think of anything else to face him. Sorry >_<
I can’t help with deejay. I’m not all that confident facing him yet. Sorry yet again. >_<
I agree with what other say that the vega juri match is a toss up. Just remember it only takes a few good hits to stun him. I think he’s at 900. So one good corner combo from Juri can end the match very quickly. But if you get into that izuna loop you’re pretty much fucked, like legit fucked.
For Blanka just build meter, fuhajin like crazy at the start, lk and mid. He can’t do anything until he has meter, once he does stop building meter and start expecting him to rainbow roll, river run, hop, and blanka ball. If he rainbows over you dash to him and punish the hell out of him. Rainbow roll to you, you FA it and jumping mp his ass out the air and punish him asap! Standing mk is by far you safest and most effective way to deal with all of his blanka balls. The move is out for so long that he literally runs into your feet and you take that away from him. If he’s hoping begin to spam grab, that shit is so free to it, because he’s gonna try to start mixing you up with the hop and you can easily get overwhelmed if you’re not on your game. The river run sweep is something blanka will do to mix up between balls. Expect it more than the balls, because that shit is active forever it seems. Block it and punish him.
Other then that you should be good with the green man.
For deejay, to be honest man, there aren’t many dee jays out there that i have fought personally and that fight is kinda up in the air for me. In super he’s the poor man’s guile, the jack of all trades; in AE you’ll have to worry about him. Treat the match up as such, no jump ins and fight fireball with fireball, it’s not guile so you have a chance. Stay max distance, anytime you have the life lead you run away like a bitch, and he’ll have to come to you. Watch out for his jamacian mix-up and rolling sobat (the kick move). Other then that, the fight isn’t hard as long as you’re not trying to approach as much. If he begins to play lame and he’s ahead in life you’re pretty much fucked.
Good luck to you! And keep up the practice! We’re always here to help!
Not sure I like metallicmike’s mentality of “Oh Vega owns juri in the corner with the loop so it’s 7-3 Vega.”
That’s kinda stupid imo. You have to be untech kd + in the corner to be in “possibly” in trouble vs Vega. Where as Vega is in trouble anywhere on the screen vs Juri if you stay on his tail and zone when he d+b charges or gets near mid range. Just stay out of mid range and rush him down on wake up. Always be ready to counter his dives and tech his kara throw shit. It really isn’t in Vega’s favor by any means. 5-5 at worst.
Agreed. Most people play it incorrectly. You don’t poke vega with claws. It’s really good. You can’t win.
Now… Without any claws it’s different. You can win just use smart pokes. Just watch for his kicks.
Stay outside of claw range and watch for charging and your fine. His roll full screen is easy to stuff. His dives can be blocked and punished hard. When he charges in with jump Ins you just block or kasatushi.
I’ll be doing a set with a local vega. I’ll post it and I hope you guys have feed back.
I don’t think it’s a bad match. Play smart and you will definitely win, if you know your options and a few of his. I just name things that he can do to juri. But in all honesty if I see a vega my thoughts usually are like, oh this match will be so free but sometimes I underestimate my opponents and lose. Not a big deal to me. Since I like to stay in Vegas face anyway it’s not that hard. I just wish my ibuki or viper had it easier against him.
If your telling me that being cornered by vega is rape vs juri then I can accept that. To say the match is a bad matchup for juri because of that is a but much.
Most of us are in agreement that Abel and viper are close to even matches but yet they’re mix up bodies juri… We don’t say this match is bad though.
Having a bad position has it’s factors. I think however it’s the same situation for vega. A vega player feels helpless up close or far… So… Vega would feel the same way.
heh its definitely not that favorable to Vega, in a way its a “whoever gets the opponent to the corner wins” kind of matchup. outside of the corner its more or less even.
First off, as Juri, you don’t corner yourself, like ever. She is shit in the corner, her options to get out are ass. Therefore vega rapes her. We do not have an effective get off me move. Sames goes for vega. Out in the open it’s free for both. It’s 5-5 plain and simple. Who makes a good read on the other? Is vega abusing his pokes? Is juri keeping too much distance on vega for him to begin his mix up game? Is Juri on him and beginning her push to the corner. That is what usually happens in the middle, mind games. The few vegas who have pushed me to the corner begin that crazy loop and it’s frustrating, but i shouldn’t have gotten beat into the corner. The ones I’ve pushed in the corner are dead very quickly. This match is such a toss up it’s just comes down to the player. Who makes the better reads and take advantage of the other’s mistakes. Most of the vegas i fight love to use the dodge but they push themselves in the corner. All i do is just store a lk fireball stock and let it go, they get hit by it and i’m free to do whatever.
Ugh… I’m tired of seeing Vega discussion. We now know his options and stuff. Let’s just go to my worst match up.
El Fuerte- I have only one on my list of friends. Lordscuzzball. And I get bodied by his elf all the time. I know I have some options but to me it feels like I have no options. I always do something stupid and he gets the knockdown then next thing you know I’m dead. I know that seeing one is a rarity but I just need some help on this match. Any takers?
