Full-time Purple Spider Lesbian: Juri Match-up/Strategy Thread

Juri doesnt really have good ways to approach…especially vs Juri’s fireballs. all she can do is EX Neckbreaker. Ibuki cant even command slide under Juri’s fireballs…not the lk fireballs at least. Upload some vids, as of right now, i honestly dont know why youre having so much trouble vs Ibuki but we can try and help you out

Look at her frame data. Find what you can punish with.

Rush her down. Hard.

i didnt know weather i should put this in the AE forum or the matchup forum seeing that yun n yang are new … but heres my take on the matchups …

yun:

  • thank god his hitbox doesnt push back after a low fuhajin, meaning just like say ryu … you can link jump attack into cr.MK or cr.MP into low fuhajin and follow it up with c.MK into HK senpusha for more damage. this is really good because his health is kinda crap
  • the optimal distance for this matchup would be 3/4 of the screen (just enough for the fuhajins to connect)
  • correct me if im wrong, but i think low fuhajin goes under his empty fireball palm thing … which kinda tells him … NO METER FOR U !
  • that empty palms move is very difficult to punish from far away. if you do your dive kick too early it will stuff u and the recovery is similar to cody’ stone throw so he would have time to block.
  • i dont recommend attempting fuhajin stores when hes rushing down as his rushdown is really good and pretty safe in most cases.
  • anti airing divekicks:
cr.MP is universal even on crossup divekicks 90% of the time (however not useful on reaction from an instant dive during a rushdown). far dives can be punished by fuhajin raise which is great. also high fuhajins are your friend (EX high for baits ) … since they will try and jump alot on you HK fuhajin dash forward into LK senpusha is a good way to lick off an axtra bit of damage and build up EX meter .
  • in this match cr.MK seems to be your best friend … it stuffs all his ground moves including their EX versions. he doesnt seem to have low invincibility on his EX dash punsh or his shoulder move which is great (confirmed with dhalsim test with cr.MP lol)
  • he can EX dash punch into ultra 1 from anywhere in the screen so be carefull
  • as for geneijin , just play your game and block, its not too scary if u’re used to blocking FSE…
  • be careful from his uppercut kick when ur back is to the corner … it may seem like hes landing behind u but ends up in front …
  • (needs testing ) not sure if his uppercut kick can whiff with cr.MK (it probably cant ) … i need to test it out
  • command throw punished just like any other command throw … cl.MK

yang:

  • the match is less intimidating imo
  • no crossup on his divekicks which makes it easier to block him
  • empty palm punish just like yun
  • just like yun his hitbox is linkable after low fuhajin in a combo
  • his rekkas are less intimidating than feilong … they’re slower for 1 and have a bit less range so u can react in a sense. dont try to punish the 1st rekka, always punish from the 2nd.
  • again cr.MK stuffs too many things in this match

it might be a bit early to judge but i still think those matchups arent too bad … not even vs. dhalsim (which people kept saying OH ITS SUICIDE) … i dont really think so … like i would say maybe 5.5-4.5 or 6-4 tops in their favor … but nothing like feilong …

I’m pretty sure K1 confirmed this a while back.

so does it or does it not whiff ?

It makes Upkicks whiff completely.

yeah it makes Yuns upkicks whiff completely, all versions.

meaty cr.mk also makes Yangs U1 completely whiff.

I still think Yun is far easier than Yang. Once you get a knockdown on Yun its basically lights out. Hes completely free on wakeup unless he decides to be scrubbish and throw out a random wakeup ultra (read: scrubblets mainly). Yang at least has a reversal option on wakeup to keep you honest.

Divekicks from both characters arent too scary honestly…its like rufus or cammy…but not nearly as bad.

Far / mid divekicks are EASILY AA’ed with cr.mp / st.mk…if you have the choice i suggest going for cr.mp due to it being fireball bufferable.

Close divekicks (that are started high, not low) are best AA’ed with cl.st.hp in my opinion. it gives you a free combo into whatever + techable knockdown. (I suggest this in most matches though…)

high fireball releases kinda hamper yun / yangs air game quite a bit. , and they cant really nullify them with their palm either due to the trajectory (they would have to be hella close to cancel them out with palm…but thats a really dumb move on their part. some guy tried to cancel out a high fuhajin release for some reason and i was able to EX pin on reaction)

these matches honestly arent too bad, they just take a little getting used to. You can rush Yun down once you get a knockdown. You can rush yang too, but you need to lead off with a meaty fuhajin on his wakeup to prevent DP attempts. be careful of when he has meter though, i believe he can EX upkick through the fireball.

My thoughts on yun and yang are the same thoughts I have on adon, rufus, Abel, viper, chun li

The match is fair at a distance. It switches to 5.5 - 4.5 juri on mid screen kd. It’s 6-4 when juri corners them.

When you’re kd though. It’s it’s 6-4 all day. Some rush down/mix up makes the match 6.5-3.5 in their favor. Its bad.

So. We all need to block more and learn when to counter attack. Furthermore… We need yo escape more, less trying yo turn the tide. Juris defense is butthole water and we can’t afford to get caught up in the mix up.

Yun whiffed up kicks from a c mp in the corner. It might have been a certain strength but I was shocked.

I’ve had Yun beat my cr.MK with a DP reversal, not sure which strenght it was.
Against his divekicks cr/st.LP work fine since his hurtbox is huge.

Against Adon, iirc you can do sweep > safejump with no delay, and hk Senpusha > safejump with no delay as well, but tech timing can mess it up. Also he wakes up slower than other characters after a backthrow.

Another day another salty session with a Fei Long.

Honestly to top it off Juri is one of few characters Fei can do standing strong into RH chicken wing, if he follows with standing fierce into ex burn kick that round 400 damage, if he FADC’s a med burn kick into another RH chicken wing thats well over 400 dmg, for only 1/2meters.

Yeah so lets see, Juri has a 1 frame link into ultra that does around the same doesnt she…thats retarded, Fei Long is retarded, the matchup is even more retarded.

In AE it gets worse, so in that light, would someone point me to Fei’s counterpick option, because if Yun doesnt cut it against him ill have to go deeper, stupid broken character.

I think Balrog is considered to be his worst matchup. Mago also said that he didn’t like the Adon matchup.

^^ Fei’s cl.st.hp after RH CW is a 1 frame link for him as well.

I digress, the matchup is indeed, retarded. Im all for being a character specialist and all (Character Specialist basically defines me as a player)…but this match is neigh unwinnable vs a Fei who knows what hes doing. I easily put this as Juri’s worst match, at 6.5/3.5 in Super, 7-3 (easily) in AE.

Hm, I didn’t know that was a 1-frame link. I don’t even play Fei Long, and I can hit it almost consistently.

Are you fighting against somebody called Slizzle? Or is it Nevillebamshew’s Fei? Or someone else?

Not even them so u can imAgine the difficulty I have with them. I’ll keep in mind adon and rog then just incase.

Thanks to Neville and others, I fought against Fei a lot, but it seems what I do doesn’t work out for you guys haha. The only other thing I can say is is Shind’s safe-jump OS with cr.mk. Stops his backdash I think, goes under Rekkakyaku/Wing and if he tries reversals your jump-in, you block in time as you land.

Hk and Ex wing makes him safe though theres no punish, id rather do the dash forward setup when given the chance, and it works i get it down, but for how much damage? doesnt even get above 150 if i only use hk pinwheel or far Hk. He can just punish your mistakes harder and Juri cant take it.

You might be able to tag his HK/EX one with a HK Senpusha, but probably not. Even if you could, it wouldn’t be much damage, so yeah.

Anyway, I would need to see how you approach the match-up before I say anything. Can you record any vids of this Fei?

EDIT: Yeah, EX/HK you can’t punish.

just general Fei’s not specific ones, i play Spartan Throne alot so ill just save a replay next i play him.

Ah, cool, thanks. I think I would have a better idea of what to say if I saw how you approached the match-up. To be honest, I think against Fei, it depends on how you hold your ground keeping him out and how solid you play. There’s not a whole lot of specifics, because he’s a pretty solid character.
