Needs Spencer.
Come on people…
You’re over-exaggerating this.
Not really, you depriving your self of the very best thing about Nova by not using spencer. Plus, I have another very important reason, which I’m going to get into in my next vid…
It’ll work, and well at that. Big thing you get out of Nova and Vergil are DHC synergy, and several assist options stemming from combo extension to just getting in. With hawkeye to anchor them you’ve got a set way of getting in under most occasions, and a good character to make a possible X factor comeback with. Also, Vergil can abuse the Nova hard knockdown portion of Super Nova making another plus for the combo.
You know, I actually like the looks of this(like, ALOT). This phoenix team has some potential for sure from what I’ve seen of Strange’s meter building and mix-ups. Only thing is that Nova might be a loose end with no assist so I suggest swapping the order(pretty sure strange can handle things by himself if need be). On the other side, if phoenix ever dies prior to 5 bars you still have enough synergy between Strange and Nova to make up for the loss of phoenix(you also get access to your meter more liberally). In regards to meter, you might be hard pressed to throw a bar or two out seeing as how Nova’s High Speed Takedown can be extremely useful(and I know strange has some really good punishes off of “read a book” into X factor, etc).
Either way, I think it looks good. Work with it a bit and tell me how this works out.
I’m thinking of joining the Nova Corps…
Thinking of doing a Nova Sentinel Doom team or something of the sort.
Need to lay on that real Soviet damage…
Any suggestions about a team like that?
I have had good success with Nova/Doom thus far, as Doom’s beam allows Nova to play a little lame and make the opponent come to him and give you some control of their options which I have found to be helpful against the quicker rushdown characters since Nova can’t really go toe to toe with some of them. I also run Dorm in the middle though, and Doom and Dorm are great together.
I’m going to need to see this to believe it. My team functions just fine and I get a ton of mileage out of Nova’s resets and mix-ups without Spencer.
Actually, in doing more research… you don’t need it for what I was talking about.
Okay, I will be more reasonable for a sec. The Javelin Glitch is Nova’s very best tool, and I can’t be in favor of not having access to it, but that said, regular old Javelin Resets are still very strong. So… I guess you can get by without Spencer… I just don’t like it.
(I don’t know if this was said before, but) Nova’s Centurion Rush assist resets the ground bounce. I was doing Beehive with Dante a second time in my bnb while calling Nova assist and then it ground bounced them again…
Yep, GensouGoroshi discovered that a little while ago. You Red3 pulses also force Wallbounce, so keep that in mind too.
How are DHCing from Nova to Spencer? I don’t see a reliable way to doing this. Are you even DHCing since you are able to get 2 super with Nova anyway? I’m not liking how it doesn’t seem like this team combination doesn’t have a safe DHC from Nova to Spencer and yes I am aware that not many characters have safe DHC’s to Spencer.
You can DHC, but you have to do things different, but you can still link two supers together with Nova/Spencer pretty easily.
Spencer is easily Nova’s best friend.
DHCing between Nova and Spencer is actually really easy, but some things have to change up. Even though I don’t enjoy DHCing to Spencer from Nova because I have to change my combo’s, the damage is usually still worth it after a reset to gain a kill(900K or more).
The DHCing thing is another reason why I’ve been running Spencer first, and letting Nova clean up the rest of the team. Simply put, DHC’ing to Nova from Spencer nets much more damage(closer to 1 mil), and usually a kill on alot of characters. Not to mention Spencer can build a nice amount of meter while on point so both Nova and himself can toss bionic arm, and Human Rocket around.
In terms of raw DHCing between the two safely is viable, but you have to be smart about it. With that said, tagging Spencer in through a safe DHC from Nova is usually going to be done off of Human Rocket to a far Maneuvers(or Arm if they stuck something out). Although this is another reason why I prefer Spencer on point since DHCing out of a bionic arm to Human Rocket is much safer, and controllable for myself.
Spencer is definitely a good partner, but I don’t see him being BFF’s at this point. I disagree that the javelin glitch is Novas best tool. In effect it’s just another option for a reset, and it’s easy to set up similar resets with Trish’s Peekaboo assist for example, and I’m sure many other assists as well.
I actually prefer a Peekaboo reset, since if you do it midscreen, it’s in the air, so you can quickly dash to the other side for another mixup option, an air throw reset, or Centurion Rush M for ground bounce if they are trying to counter an air throw, on top of all the options you have from the Spencer javelin reset.
That’s not to say the Spencer tech is not appreciated - I just think it’s better to not have a mindset of Nova “requiring” Spencer, because if we do that then we will be passing up on all the other tech and synergy Nova may have with the rest of the cast. This early in the game we should be encouraging experimentation with all the different characters to see all that we are capable of, not focusing on a specific duo imo.
YES YES YES. I am working on more Nova/Trish stuff. If I could make it work, I’d play Nova/Trish/Spencer, but there isn’t a good enough assist for Nova’s approach. You can’t sacrifice Pekaboo for Low Voltage. It defeats the purpose of Trish.
It’s cool though, Nova can have multiple BFFs. Ve is the Nova/Spencer innovator and I’ll try to be the Nova/Trish innovator. Nova has a bro and a bitch
I’m not gonna disagree with this to much, because you have a point.
All I want to say is that the reason the Javelin Glitch is so good, is that there’s no way out.
Most reset I se people do can be gotten out of if the opponent guesses right. The Javelin Glitch cannot be escaped, and that’s a rarity in this game.
Is Spencer’s the only assist that can create this?
Yeah, there’s no other way to combo into a crumple after a ground bounce.
What if you save the ground bounce?
