Force of Three- The Nova Teambuilding Thread

In all honesty that team, in theory, should work. Both your assist should be able to cover most areas, and help keep folks locked down. Outside of building meter for Strider though, I’m not sure what else Nova will provide for strider other then combo extension(unblockable as well, but I feel like Strider by himself opens people up really easily).

Of course, if you ever wanted to focus on Nova a bit more then you could drop doom for Spencer. Both Nova, and Strider can benefit from slant shot for combo extension.

Ok, looking at the Nova/Spencer combo myself now. I’m looking to team them up with Doom since he’s my most confident character at the mo, but I can’t decide between the plasma beam or rocks assist. Lockdown would be good for the mixups and resets as you would, but at the same time I need something to help me get in from long range. Could both do the same job?

To be honest, you could roll with any of the three Doom assists. I’m not a big fan of Doom’s beam myself, but that’s just me.

I personally like Missiles because of the high/low mixup potential during the blockstun it puts you in, and it helps extend Spencer’s combos (at least, in Vanilla they did. Spencer might not even need them now). Rocks don’t really “lock down” as well as in Marvel 2 IMO… And because of Nova and Spencer’s relatively quick horizontal speed, I think rocks would move too slowly to benefit mixups and would serve best as ‘cover fire’ so to speak. Missiles would also give your THC photon array instead of sphere flame, so that’d work better too.

thanks for the video proof.I actually never use the kick and just go for 2 photos. I do it online all the time, so I dont really think its hard.

Hum, I see where your coming from. My worry is using Missiles against a zoning team or a team with a fast projectile/beam assist, as the missiles would never come out and Doom would die easy, unless I’m talking twiddle. Maybe I could mix up beam and missiles pending on team, or are missiles good to use against everyone and every kind of team?

Why the Spencer love? (not knocking it just curious) He doesn’t seem to help outside of extending comboes.

I just picked Nova up last night, been struggling to find a niche I’m comfortable with in this game, but I think I’m falling into it.

Nemesis/Nova/Doom

Nemesis functions as a fill out character for me as he allows a mistake or two, his range game works well with Doom and lets me bait a Nova assist (early game - the ground kick), and he does extremely high damage. Coupled with Nova’s damage and their DHC options - and I kill anything except maybe nemesis in close one combo using only two bars. After DHC Nova has free rain with Doom assist and can DHC either way with Ruby Heart super as needed. I know the team may not sound awesome to you guys, but its worked rather well for me to this point, only hole I’m having issues wit his when I’m getting pressured, I my ‘GTFO’ option is relegated to pushblocks and Nova assist.

People really loving this Nova/Spencer combo. IDK the Crumple tech is cool, but I need a “Look at this , while I get in your face” assist.

Still Nova / Hawk / Ammy. But That middle slot has been changing frequently.

I entirely agree that he’s the best assist to extend Nova’s combos or setup sick resets, but I’m finding that I need assists that help me get the openings that generate those situations in the first place. Daggers of Danak is perfect there for me - it pins people down with the actual shot and the psychological effect of it about to fire, it tracks teleporters and hits people way up in the air if needed.

Once I hit someone, with the extra little hits and chip they take before a hit is confirmed and converted, they usually fall over dead anyhow.

The other issue is that Spencer has some specific requirements of the team as well. He very much benefits from having an assist to help him get in, having meter stocked when he comes in, and having a safe DHC option after him. In terms of competitive characters, that’s like Sentinel, Doom and Dante Weasel Shot (maybe?) to choose from, which is a pretty narrow team to work within.

Yep, that’s pretty much my point, but said much better.

I think you actually have more options then that. Spencer and Nova both really want the exact same type of assist, and alot of characters have something that will work to varying degree. Sent’s is the best assist, but then you get stuck with Anchor Sent (not fun). All the characters I listed have assists that will work (and probably more), I give a nod to both Vergil and Frank as they’re assists are solid (not amazing) for Nova/Spencer, but they are amazing anchors as well. I’m strongly considering switching to Vergil as anchor because of my dislike for Sentinel. As for Frank, I don’t like having to Run Nova/Frank/Spencer as I think Spencer is a bad anchor, combofiend be damned.

My team is Nova/Taskmaster/Spencer
I have been running this team since the game came out and i was wondering what other peoples opinions on the team was. I have a fairly good win/loss record with this team (120/15 (i am a 6th lord if that makes a difference))so i personally feel that it is pretty good what are your opinions?

I think that’s a pretty darned solid team. I don’t like TaxMaster, but I never like TaxMaster, so that really doesn’t mean much.

I’ll ask again, how about Spidey Nova Hulk or Spidey, Nova Hawkeye? Can someone help?

Only hawkeye really does anything for Nova’s neutral, which is where your non-spencer assist should go.

? I must be slow but I don’t understand this sentence.

Nova doesn’t do well in neutral, meaning that he has a harder time getting into a favorable position. Spidey and Hulk do nothing to help him in that regard, but Hawkeye is quite good for it. And of course, your third slot should be Spencer.

Eh I don’t like Spencer. I mostly stick to the Marvel roster. Not really a fan of the Capcom side.

I’ve been thinking about running Nova/Vergil/Hawkeye for a while. Any thoughts?

Wesker (gun shot)/ Nova (overhead)/ Doom (beam)

YOU MUST HAVE SPENCER.

You can’t expect people to take a Nova team seriously if it doesn’t have Spencer on it.
