Food YOU like, but nobody else eats

Yea, thats true. I went to college in Charlottesville, and ppl in the DC area and 757 seemed different, yet I thought DC was deep southern. But then I met this girl from Lynchburg, and ooo lawwwwd was she country. Now, I don’t really consider VA deep south, just southern. Personally, it seems that W.Va is way more southern than VA.

In my personal opinion, fuck the Mason Dixon line. To me Richmond, VA and NC separates north from south. That’s why I use to laugh when back in the day, people from Philly, NY and even Boston use to call us country until they went past Richmond. But getting back to the topic, most people don’t eat fried okra or Lima beans and field peas with snaps w/ smoked neckbones assist.

props to gimpy on the scrapple… hot damn… fried hard… eggs an grits mixed…oh lawd!!

I don’t even know what ot classify WVA…but DC and B-more both have their own unique ‘culture’…like a bubble that proves its a meeting point for the north and south, where hte locals scream to be different yet similar to both.

Yo, saw this on Iron Chef or something…new spin on fried okra…chop the shit up into chunks…not like the whole pod, then cover that joint in egg and panko crumbs…then fry…omg…sounds like dinner heh…

I’ve never actually had scrapple, but wanted to try it. shrug, I’m an SOS guy for breakfast…and omelettes…plural…

It’s settled then, I’m going to the grocery store after work and buying me some scrapple. Scrapple, eggs and grits mix was and will always be the original breakfast bowl.

shyyyyt… fried okra is like a snack back home in the Mtown… smoked neckbones…pfffft… thats added to anything that boils an is green (string beans… greens…etc.)

i like authentic gumbo… New’-awlins style… wit the chicken FEET included…

This is the blackest thread on SRK.

imo.

Mango Pickle

banana and mayo sandwich; spaghetti and blue cheese (had that last night and was in HEAVEN!)

describe it cause i think my shorty eats that…

I’ve had Mango curry, and spicy red mango, but alot of caribbean folks eat that. SOmething that I think looks nasty though is those pickled (or peppered) sausages or whatever that be in a jar. Junk looks unappetizing, lol

In general, I can’t eat fast food like that anymore. After going a while without it, even thinkin about a big mac might make me throw up

It’s been a while since I had some. It’s basically mangos (raw or cooked) with some kind of spices put all over it. I can’t really name the spices. I remember some foreign lady I know at the shop where I get my hair braided offered me some. I thought it looked nasty but she got me to try it. It was extremely good.

@ 730blackmage: You’re right mango pickle doesn’t look scrumptious at all. But at least it tastes good (to me anyway).

What I found funny was how much Northern VA claimed DC, but the ppl from DC at school never said anything about Northern VA. And apparently some ppl from Bmore highly dislike Go-go music, lol.

I think i’ve had that before. Its been a long time though.

ok yeah she eats that as well then…

mango in curry chicken (caribbean style) is beastly as well…

I’m really white so when I make a sandwich, sometimes I’ll take a slice of cheese and wipe the remaining mayo left on the knife on it. Shit’s so tasty.

Mayo isn’t bad, but when Undercover Brotha had that scene with OD mayo, I cringed, lol.

LOL same here, I can’t stand a dry ass sandwich

I like mayo on my sandwiches too. IMHO, the best kinds are Hellman’s, Duke’s, and Mrs. Filberts. A couple of minutes ago a coworker and Ihad a convo about certain kinds of food and she mentioned that she would never eat a fried pickle…and I wholeheartedly agreed with her. :wasted:
