Food YOU like, but nobody else eats

I made frowny-face with just about every post in this thread except for the fish and grits thing (though I’ve never actually tried it, it doesn’t sound particulary disgusting like the other stuff).

Anybody ever been invited to dinner over someone else’s house where something from this thread was the main course? Yeah… that liver shit is not cool. At least when chitlins are prepared there’s usually other stuff to choose from because it’s usually a cookout or a Sunday dinner type thing, but the smell is very off-putting yo…

Ever tried beef/calf liver… if you cook it correctly its a very tender and tasty piece of meat… so fuckin good(personally just make a gravy, the smell when it is raw might put you off though)… never eaten that fried and never plan to…

It has a better consistency than chicken liver imo but doesn’t seem like something you can fryshrugs

EDIT: Serve with grits…

I love that shit too. Unfortunately, I haven’t had it since my grandmother cooked it up for me back in '94. =/

Souse is amazing. Same with scrapple. Souse is served cold, while scrapple is cooked.

I dunno about beef liver, it’s got a very powerful, somewhat gritty taste to it, due to the animal being alive for too long. Calf and chicken livers are far superior.

I agree fully… anyone here try beef kidney… that is better than any organ I’ve eaten off of anything…

Also pig hearts are tasty… damn I gonna die an early death(I’m going to end up eating something I have no business eating one day)… I really want to eat some “rocky mountain oysters”…:rofl:

EDIT: Nothing in here makes me cringe unless somebody bringing up eating shit like roaches…

Tortilla chips and cottage cheese. Eating it right now. Been in love with this since a kid. Don’t like cottage cheese by itself or with anything else.

Pate. :coffee:

Pierogies. Why does no one else in the south eat them? They kick ass!

Deer Hearts, squirrel, snake, I’ll try pretty much anything. I find quail particularly delicious as well as fried chicken gizzards, not livers though. I’m not really a fan of the texture that liver has. Pigs feet, jowls, fatback. you name it I’ll eat it at least once lol.

Technically speaking, it’s south of the mason dixon line…in reality though, the south ‘starts’ somewhere north of richmond, but south of ‘northern virginia’

Can always make croutons out of stale bread.

Best pate I’ve ever had was in Paris, the worst in London. It was briefly banned in Chicago, but that law got repealed.

Chicken hearts (i can’t help it)
Seaweed that comes with the sushi.
Muntdrop(Licorice)
Brussels sprouts

Bear Grylls would tell you that bugs are good protein, but you gotta pick the legs outta your teeth afterward. :stuck_out_tongue: I’ve tried silkworm larvae before, but didn’t think much of them.

cuz a lot of cheese smells like shit too yet people still eat them.

Funny how true this is. At times I think the south really starts here in Richmond.

Even still…while I’ll consider Richmond “Souf”…its not full tilt…its why I think of the DMV states (not just metro area) as the real east coast…you’ve got up “Norf” - 'Bah’stun to Nuyawk and Jerz, as one way of life, and then you get this…way of life ‘grade’ that shifts in between fast paced north and slow ass souf…and thats this region…hell if I want to look at whats poppin locally in SF, I go to the Atlantic North section.

But alas you go to any part of MD outside of B-more/PGC…and you feel down south…nothing but trailer parks, farms, and small ass hicktowns.

I’m suprised The Damned hasn’t walked in here and let it sleep he eats a certain animals kidney with fava beans and a nice Chianti.

Anyone here had the Popeyes Sweet Tea?

Shit is delicious. I used to go through gallons a day of it. Wish I could get some authentic sweet tea.
