Chicken liver is a delicacy? How exactly is it prepared?
Fried. Always fried. There’s some white people that try to class it up with a chicken liver mousse, but fuck that.
My grandmoms use to cook that for me when I was kid. Couldn’t get enough of it.
Funny thing is, my boss treats us to this middle eastern restaurant every year around the holidays. Surprisingly, they serve chicken liver and do a helluva of a job at it (w/onions, splash a lemon, the whole nine). My co-workers crack up when I order it, but its really my only chance to eat it nowadays. I changed it up a bit by mixing it up with their hummus and rice. Damn delicious!
You talking about the Mole the Mexican dish right (not the animal)?
Most people who try it tend to like it. Afterall, it is made out of chocolate and spices (I think). Throw it on some meat and Good Lawd! It just not really known outside of the Mexican community.
mole is actually kind of a generic name for sauce, though it is typically thicker than salsa and doesn’t necessarily have to contain chocolate. Mole, I think, just means mixture or concoction (i.e. guaca-mole is an avocado mixture), though it definitely can refer to specific dishes as well. in the end mole is tasty stuff and not sure why people are turned away from it.
When I was in Japan I ate a lot of chicken heart at this restaurant we always went to. they were delicious.
With Mustard FTW.
As for me, Irish potatoes make me strip naked and sing christmas carols. Because its that fucking good.
I like most of the stuff in this thread.
Stuff that I love includes: salami, especially Genoa salami; olives, which I can just eat right out of the can, onions, which I like to saute in butter and eat by themselves; Vienna sausages!; Mustard, I put it on everything that is meaty & snacky. Not that crappy yellow goop, but real ground gourmet mustard; fat. I love sticky and crunchy pieces of fat. That’s about all I can think of off the top of my head.
edit ~ Oh yeah, I also like liver and head cheese. Souse!
Spicy cow tongue chalupas
Pickled okra
Spinach instead of lettuce for salads
Fried chicken liver, gotta use cinnamon sprinkled in with the flour
Sugar free pudding
Flan
Peanut butter and karo syrup sandwiches
Deviled ham
Potted meat
Fried bologna sammiches
Cocktail smokies cooked in a mixture of grape jelly and mustard
If its baby spinach then I understand I like that too.
Eating sliced tomato and cheese sandwiches in middle school I was getting weird looks for. Raw oysters, sardines in mustard sauce and fried squid I like as well.
There is a Renaissance festival in MD every year. I mostly go just to get oyster shooters that come with beer if you purchase enough.
And I don’t like the smell of chitlins. As a child if someone was cooking them you could not avoid that smell anywhere in the house.
Liver pate and chicken liver is good if prepared right. My friends mother in law made chicken liver with a lot of indian spices and it came out well. Its hard to get over the after taste when I try it but it smells good when cooked.
mircale whip sandwich…been hooked on it since i was 10.
All jokes aside from my last post. Bread, cheese and ketchup is classic.
I forgot to mention another food.
SCRAPPLE…with bacon! Just like Spam, you fry that shit and eat it.

Cottage Cheese.
Pizza with ranch apparently
Umm I am the only one in my family who likes Burger King… I can’t really think of anything else. The food I eat is pretty normal.
^ah…that’s SOUSE! That is one of the worst foods I’ve ever seen. I would have to be paid at least a few hundred thousand dollars to even consider eating that.
I always found it strange that a lot of folks I know don’t like peanut butter at all…no Jif, Peter Pan or whatever…it doesn’t make sense to me. Peanut butter is one of the greatest things of all time. Sheeeeit, I don’t even need bread for it. Just give me a spoon or a knife and I’m all set to finish off an entire jar of PB. Then, there’s the combos— the classic PB/Jelly sandwich, or the PB/Honey sandwich, or a toasted PB or PB/Honey or PB/Jelly sandwich. Then there’s the option of “crunchy vs. smooth” to think about. Peanut butter is a magical thing.
The only truly weird choice of food for me is stale bread. I’ll still eat it, depending on just how stale it is. I actually preferred the bread be a bit stale when I was a little kid…so I’d let it sit out on a table or something for awhile. Bread that is too soft is disgusting to me…classic example is Wonder Bread. That shit is pitiful…it is like the spineless sissy of the bread world. I don’t get how people can tolerate such weak garbage. It turns back into a doughball the very second a drop of saliva touches it. Terrible.
I already eat souse and chitlins… if I find it why not?shrugs
Haven’t had either in awhile though…
EDIT:Souse is the same as scrapple? Guess I have eaten before…
