Flying While Intoxicated: The MvC3 Iron Man thread

i’m having a bit difficulty with the BnB of Ironman (the fly unfly one) and every time I try to fly i get a aerial exchange. WTF capcom?

I don’t have that issue, just make sure your pressing exchange after you fully input the QCB I used to have that problem because I was pressing it too early.

Wave dash and you can do any smart bomb into proton canon. Obviously the H smart bomb does the most. Just saying lol.

So Dormammu is easily one of Iron Man’s worst match-ups, if anyone disagrees please put up an argument. With that I feel an Iron Man match-up thread should be imminent.

just some nice little overhead tricks to add to our repertoire

you should also use fly, unfly H its an overhead that hits like halfscreen away and can lead to full combos from that distance

i like that vid gimpyfish i have been doing something just like that but i started it different. since i play trish and ammy on my team i would usually get the opponent in then corner wit trish and after a knockdown down round harvest, raw tag ironman then do fly, unfly, falling j.B, dj. down H, j.S. this works pretty well wit ammys assist too

i like to use an assist before the fuzzy guard setup cause it makes advance guarding alittle harder to do

i

fly unfly is nice but more difficult and easier to block. the real purpose is for when they actually block the first hit, the nice part is that those will still continue a combo if they do not block the first hit, and are trickier to block than just another low in the event that they do block it.

How so? Although usually my team is bodied by a competent dormammu. I would say that’s because I suck ass in this game, not because he’s Stark’s worst match up.

Isn’t there one already?

Well I asked the Dorm threads if they could tell me their biggest problems with Iron Man and they simply said that there isn’t. All Dorm has to do is place Flame Carpets, Pillars, and he can punish ANYTHING Iron Man has with an easy Chaotic Flame. Iron Man’s only way of getting in is tri-dashing and smart blocking and the Flame Carpet is a bitch to deal with if you want to jump-in tri-dash; Iron Man would lose in a projectile battle as Pillar just beats out Unibeam and air Smart Bombs and Pillars negate super-jumping in as well. Now on no basis do I think Dorm is overpowered or broken cause he isn’t, Iron Man just has a really tough time against a competent Dorm.

EDIT: I guess the lack of activity in the Iron Man threads failed to show me the match-up death, ma b.

After watching vids with Flash Metroid I see what you’re talking about. But Iron man genuinely just has problems getting in, especially by himself with an average speed tri/air-dash and average projectiles/keep away tools. his main asset is his level 3 in most of these situations since it’s a great reversal against most attacks.

But yea after watching quite a few of vids with stark on people’s teams, I understand why he’s not on everyone’s team. But by any means he’s not the worst, he’s just not a great character.

Anyways flash plays a nice stark, and someone else too I was watching on youtube last night plays an above average stark as his anchor.

Btw nice Nas sig McTease<3

Umm I disagree about dormammu imo its one of those match ups where you have to know exactly what you are doing but once you got it its not that bad I genuinely dont believe ironman has problems with anything really hes so good

Justin.tv - Option-Select.com’s stream - Option-Select.com’s SSF4 and MvC3 Stream

matches from earlier today theres a shit load of ironman(whenever people finally get passed jill lol) in the parts 1-3 I think I start playing around 1 hour in part 1 and I am on a good amount of time from then on

I think it’s more of an issue that not many people use Iron Man enough to know the match up. It’s the Ryu cried earlier before people start playing him. And you can punsih a lot of Dorm’s projectile on reaction with Iron Man.

Yea I saw your matches before making that post and saw there were a few occasions where it took you time to get in close in on dormammu.

But stark looks like he just has a slightly difficult time getting in, it’s just as you put it, and I think it applies to using stark against top tier characters. You have to know exactly what you’re doing, in order to win and to get in for attacks.

Question, which repulsor blasts are best to use? And when should I use them?

Thanks.

I pretty much only use LP except for very specific situations

Can someone list tony’s pro’s and con’s can the list be non bias and legit please

Off the top of my head.

Pros:
[]Great reach on his normals (j.:h:, cr.:m: come to mind)
[
]has a tri jump
[]Fairly damaging once you get his combos down
[
]Excellent level 3
[]Excellent assists
[
]cr.:m:, :s: is a great punisher that people don’t use nearly enough
[]Can run away
[
]versatile throw combos
[]good air to air combos
[
]good battery
Cons:
[]High execution requirement on combos
[
]Has a hard time dealing with runaway
[] Slow unibeam and smart bombs no longer having different arcs make him suprisingly bad at zoning and fireball wars.
[
]Slow/unsafe launcher with below average reach
[]Tri jump is slow-ish compared to Mags
[
]Proton Cannon not very good for chipping anymore, also has really bad start-up
[]Apart from having less life, Mags does almost everything better
[
]Ground dash cannot immediately be cancelled into normals, hurting his rushdown and mixup game immensely.
:l:repulsor blast? Could someone post stark’s repulsor blast, and repulsor spread frame data? Thanks.

Pretty accurate, these are all the things I love/hate about stark.

Repulsor Blast :l:
Hits: 5
Start Up: 11
Active: 50
Recovery: 10
Durability Points: 3x5 Low Priority (3 Points per hit)
Advantage on Block: -8

Repulsor Spread
Hits: 1
Start Up: 1 (Cancel Repulsor Blast)
Active: 6
Recovery: 24
Durability Points: 8 Low Priority
Advantage on Block: -9 (Pushes you away from your opponent away though)

Lol reading the frame data of spread makes it look WAY more unsafe than it actually is. Thanks.

I don’t mean to be an ass but I also wanted to see the frame data for the:m: and :h: versions of repulsor blast.

It feels like unibeam and repulsor blast aren’t really made to be used in stark’s combos rather more like mediocre zoning tools, or is that just me.

Repulsor Blast :m:
Hits: 5
Start Up: 16
Active: 55
Recovery: 10
Durability Points: 3x5 Low Priority (3 Points per hit)
Advantage on Block: -13

Repulsor Blast :h:

Active: 60
Recovery: 10
Durability Points: 3x5 Low Priority (3 Points per hit)
Advantage on Block: -18
