Alright, anyone else having trouble connecting c. L, c. M, s. H into S? I’m having so much effin trouble going from c. M to s. H and I used to main Iron Man in mvc2… sad.
Now I’m no expert with Iron Man but I’ve been playing him since release day so I’ll try to give my input.
As with most of Iron Man’s matchup it is best that you stay mid-range so that’s commendable. Iron Man does seem to have trouble against shotos, especially since a blocked Proton Cannon usually ends up with you eating a fullscreen beam hyper. I usually block more than I try to rushdown, try to get in a few shots of jumping H, and usually wait to punish their whiffs and blocked launchers. But when they’re in the air you definitely want to use L Repulsor Blast as opposed to his launcher which may be the most punishable launcher in the game or any other strengths of his Repulsor Blast as they tend to have a longer startup. Repulsor Blast definitely helps in this case as you can either chain standing H or crouching M into launcher after Repulsor Blast hits or even Proton Cannon or Iron Avenger depending on the characters current health; though if Repulsor Blast gets blocked you want to use Spread to push him away. You definitely have to practice the after Repulsor Blast combos as they can be random and are generally harder than other combos.
Iron Man really needs a good assist for this matchup such as Akuma’s Tatsu or Sent’s Drones. You definitely want to play fullscreen against Wesker as his teleports don’t reach fullscreen. Unfortunately you have to try to zone him out with Unibeams and air Smart Bombs but when he does get close jumping H is your best bet to try to keep him away, some occasional L Repulsor Blasts to combo right afterwards. Iron Man has a really tough time with Wesker, it’s definitely one of his hardest matchups but a lot of Wesker players I feel have a pattern with their teleports so if you can catch on to their pattern you should be able to know what they’re going to do next and work from there.
Had a tough time the first few days but it’s actually really simple. When you’re chaining crouching L and M right after you press M let go of the crouch and just chain H, of course the timing takes a while to get used to be it’s fairly easy.
Hope this all helps.
Justin Wong will be playing Iron Man tonight at wednesday night fight, can’t wait to see what bag of tricks he’ll bring.
Hopefully he does some shit we don’t know about yet, either that or he will solidify the fact that Iron Man has so much trouble.
This.
I’m not sure how much we’ll get to see of it as he’s playing IM as anchor.
I talked to him at Final Round , and asked if he knew any IM because I was getting bodied whenever I had IM left solo
and he said… he will learn him next
=)
So Justin dropped his team of Spider-man/Deadpool/Iron Man mid-tourny. Yup.
yeah only one match of it - i’d say one week wasn’t enough exp for him to know he’d win now that people have gotten better and i dont see that as being a big deal at all.
No not at all but I was definitely looking forward to some high-level Iron Man.
completely agreed i wanted to see that too - are there any match videos of good iron man players? i haven’t seen any if there are and i’d really like to.
FlashMetroid plays Ironman he won the last 2 Xanadu ranbats with Joe, Ironman, Tron you can check the videos out in the archives too lazy to go look them up
Thanks for those - seeing him played well makes me want to step it up - LOVE it.
Gotta work on my airthrow smart bomb follow up combos midscreen though they are so sexy
Stupid question incoming: How do you tri jump with ironman? When I jump UF then airdash DF it just feel so slow and awkward. Am I timing it wrong?
Thanks for the input mac tease, i will learn to use repulsor blast as defensive move. Until now I mostly used this move during combos, when S launcher wouldn’t reach.
I also play IM mid range until they get more on the defensive. Then i start triangle jumping or dashing in with c.L*2,c.M (shotos’ string^^)
Fortunado>> I think you get a faster airdash from SUPERJumping, not just by normal jumping. You can also dash, cancel with any jump and airdash down forward. It’s like the character keep inertia and speed.
Is there any differences with :l: and :h: versions of Stark’s smart bombs besides damage? Because I haven’t found anything, at least not beyond speed and start up time.
I’m just curious, because if there is not glaring different between them, then there’s no point in using the :l: and versions of smart bomb in combos especially.
Thanks.

Don’t understand that info. But I get everything else, thanks.
Glad to know it wasn’t just me that felt they all have the same start up time.
Looks like :l: smart bomb would be the best to delay your air landing time then.
basically it means the harder ones are going to beat more projectiles than the lighter ones
they have more priority.
Ok reread along with your post just now. I get it thanks.
