There is nothing going on in the current tourney scene that is so bad that something like FLAG is needed. We are propably in the 2nd best period of Streetfighter now. shit is mostly on console and you being 36 and me being 30 espeically where we grew up? come on man. shit is all love now. its never been better in terms of good atmosphere and safety .meet up with me at Next Level for some AE look at the current scene and then tell me if FLAG or something similar is necessary

my point is that while i was reading the shady tourney stuff thread…like i’m sure you have by now…there were people mentioning that some people at various tourneys were doing crazy and stupid and disruptive shit.
stuff like:
-spiking their arcade sticks
-breaking shit that was property of the venue and cops having to be called on them
-punching people in the back of the head and knocking them out
then i read that these people are not just tournament particpants, but somehow someway got themselves allowed to be tourney assistances of tourney organizers.
and i’m like wtf! how is that possible!
how are these nuts running da show when these people should never ever even be allowed anywhere near a major/minor tournament???

i don’t wanna do something like spend a good amount of money in hotel and travel costs, travel all the way by plane, train, or automobile, to some venue-event, pay even more money at the tournament…to end up having to see and hear crazy people doing crazy shit.
i ask you, do you really want to be sitting next to a guy that ends up spiking his controller next to you, throwing tantrums, or seeing people smashing shit that aint theirs…or sucker punching people???

Exactly. I remember before Justin became dedicated to games I would beat him free. I quit over a decade ago but it’s no surprise that the same people that I would see training to step their shit up at CTF or at sessions in NY are the same people that are placing on top in tournaments.
People are taking trash talk out of context, an example is the Mahvel 2 video where Yipes told Javier “Welcome to USA nigga.” People who weren’t there and just saw the video actually thought Yipes was racist. With all the trash talk that went on at CTF I haven’t seen anyone seriously being racist or any signs of real misogyny going on. From what I have seen, the fighting game community actually caters to women.

The only thing that I have a problem with is having some sort of guild that looks over these events like fucking referees. When we already have one they are called tournament officials.
