Faster start up on hado. This would almost solve almost all of the issues of people getting in for free and immediately putting Gouken on his ass. They need to make it harder for opponents to get to him.
Right now opponents get rewarded handsomely if they are able to get in on Gouken, it’s only fair if they should have a hard time doing so. And it wouldn’t be OP b/c you can’t have 2 fireballs on the screen at the same time.
I think that is a small change that would make Gouken shoot up the Tiers, even if they keep everything else as is.
Since he already has good recovery I can’t see capcom buffing the start up time for hadou although that would be very nice! The charge time for a 2 hit normal hadou REALLY needs to be buffed though. Its way too long as it is and the japanese even agree with this. Im really looking forward to the blog they release next week!
Give him the Twins’ target combo as a hit confirm into Super, lol. It’s actually kind of possible because of the LP Palm we have now. XD

Forget his wakeup game, seriously, so many people have it just as bad or worse then us.
Cl.st.mk to command normal (towards + mk) to alleviate pressure and punish minor mistakes for over 140 dmg…
super to full juggle off 2 hit j.mp, palm, and counter
Change LP Palm to a tiger knee attack where the palm can do damage the entire time after startup but travels the distance of old LP palm.
Just stocking a super would put fear into peoples hearts. Throw a fireball? Palm into 450+ dmg. Jump? mp into 425 dmg. Go on the offensive? Counter into 495 dmg. I’m telling you, that buff alone would be so godlike, why am I the only one asking for this? If they are trying to make the super relevant, this is it. It will be balanced by the fact you can’t max punish yet can still do decent punishes with our hitconfirms.
The lp palm change allows us to keep ALL our palms from super and it stops the focus shit in your face and improves zoning if it stays -4. It is seriously win win. All three palms back but LP is now REALLY useful, more so than the original one.
Why are people so infatuated with demon flip crap? How is this going to help Gouken overall? Oh, I can tatsu out of flip. Yay. And still get punished with my 20 frames landing. I feel like demon flip is the least of our problems.
You guys should focus on things that allow us to continue pressure and force people into mistakes or allow us to punish since everyone who plays Gouken on a regular basis against good players should know it is REALLY rare to get a max punish out on good players cause they don’t do shit that unsafe. the mp xx mp palm combo was a good start at -5 and more stuff, but we really need that 3 frame normal with range to alleviate shit like run stop from guy and to be able punish ANYTHING that is -4 or -3.
Stocking that super will make people really cautious of you, it will be tough to break through you or just get careless. Focusing through fireballs? Palm, counterhit, full super… Want to throw fireballs? Palm xx super… gettting careless with your jumpins all over Goukens head? j.mp xx super… Going to just pressure the shit out of Gouken on his wakeup cause 150 damage is the worse you can suffer? Counter xx super…
Full juggle super would truly give you a reason to stock it. It becomes like Gief Ultra 2, you don’t jump once he has it. It in itself becomes a mind game. The opponent really has to consider what he is doing before doing it. Having it stocked will automatically make Gouken a ridiculous force to be reckoned with. I feel like if it could full juggle it would be the best super in the game. Maybe I’m wrong but when you think of the possibilities…
How about a new command normal for cr.lk with new combo possibilities? I like Far st.mk more blockstun less pushback for new combos st.mk>all tatsus hed have better range like a BIson lets say
As for as demon flip crap I feel flip Parry needs some attention. faster start up recovery and ex version of some sort. Throw box on demon flip throw could be imrpoved also so catch crouchers. 12 frames of recovery for demon flip focus was retarded and 6 frames is much better but it should be 4 to reward us for getting in and getting a successful parry off and we can punish and act accordingly as fast as possible. Its also a big problem reversals and air throws and general armor break and 2 hitting moves stop demon flip focus. It needs to be worked on IMO.
Yes, LOTS of things could be better, but do you really think that this is going to be some game changer? Do you think it’s going to address a serious weakness of Gouken’s? Think about the 3 changes I listed and how they would affect Gouken overall and how it would change so many matchups. Just the super change alone would change so much…
I just don’t think doing anything to flip is going to address what Gouken needs.
In fact it would probably be best if people listed what they thought Gouken’s weaknesses were instead of what they wanted.
I see Gouken’s problems as revolving around the fact he can’t punish for anything more then 80 damage if something is -5 on block and can’t punish anything -4 or less on block except with a cr.lp unless it is point blank. He has nothing to make people fear him except for backthrow Ultra and that has been nerfed and he has no mixup to speak of. He doesn’t have a way to open people up. He can’t stop focus fishing in his face without doing extremely risky shit like EX tatsu, he has no way to keep people from pressuring the living shit out of him. Guy is a perfect example of this when someone keeps run stopping on you or Yun with his constant pressure, there is just no way to regain momentum outside of a lucky Kongo, and obviously his wakeup but I’m ok with that.
Those are the things I’m thinking of when I try to come up with stuff.
we all see him differently with different weaknesses since we all play him differently. thats my take , i didnt think we shoulda lost f.palm but we did based on how others see him.
Yes I understand what your saying but still the fact remains demonflip focus needs work also and it can and will help gouken out alot if done correctly. Im not saying what your listing is no less or more important. Gouken can kill people if he can punish mistakes. Think about if they worked on air parry and made it better. People would be afraid to anti air us this giving us mixup potential. If they do anti air us and capcom does some good improvements on airparry it will give us more chances to PUNISH!
Gouken needs to much work in too many area’s though. Its up to capcom in the end and what they choose to improve regardless of what we request >_> lol Im just putting the idea out. I feel Demon flip parry needs to be improved along with what you said to make gouken a more solid character.
