Filia Thread: My BFF And I Are Stuck Like Glue

Right now I’m running Filia with Double’s Hornet Bomber LK (dpm + lk). It has invulnerable start-up like Napalm Pillar, but it also keeps the opponent in enough blockstun for you to get a second mix up if your first one fails.

So I just discovered something (not sure if this was known before, there’s a chance) while training on the corner drill loop. I wanted to extend the drill loop with my excellebella assist because I did it accidentally in a match, it goes like this:
(corner) throw, cr.lk, s.mk, cr.hp xx lp drill, s.lk, s.mk, cr.hp xx lp drill, cr.lp, s.mk, cr.hp xx lp drill, s.lp, s.mk, cr.hp xx lp drill, s.hp xx updo mp, Cerebella’s excellebella assist hits, s.mp, s.hk xx hp updo xx fenrir drive/ s.mp, s.hp, j.lp, j.lk, j.mk(2) xx hk hairball triple overhead reset/ other resets.
Now I had a hard time doing hp updo into cerebella’s assist, either it got me a fenrir drive or the assist didn’t come out at all, but then I again accidentally did srk assist (SRK + lk+mp) and it did updo mp and assist at the same time, the assist hitting correctly. It’s pretty fun but not only that, you can make your updo safe without using a meter with the right assist (lockdown assist anyone?).
So here were my 2 cents. Btw the combo ending with fenrir drive does 7050 damages, going to record it.

Don’t start the drill loop after a throw with cr.LK, start with s.MK cr.HP drill s.MP s.MK cr.HP drill… blah blah blah
You will net more damage

Apperently Painwheel is so small that you can create some nasty midscreen left-right mixups with jMP

Boodendorf i’ve sent you a friend request if you’re using a crt TV let’s do some Filia on Filia action (if you’re using a lcd/plasma it’s probaly going to lag though)

a bit unrelated but as for the current patch it doens’t matter what your opponent has. If you’ve got a pal crt (50Hz), the game will run at 50fps in netplay because it doesn’t skip frames. 50fps is 83% of the actual game speed. mikeZ said its on top of the priority list for fixes, so hopefully a new patch will fix this very soon. (Correct me if i’m wrong but I’m pretty sure about this)

Actually no, If both players got CRTs it will work fine (with good ping ofcourse)
I got a friend who played against me on both LCD and CRT and he said it was a HUGE difference
LCD was a nightmare blah blah
CRT worked great blah blah

And you were right BTW about why it lagged for us (sorry about that…)

What do you guys think of using Iad J.Mk to bait/punish assists?

I had the idea that you could rely on the double hit to stuff assists, or push you out of the range of aaa’s, depending on the timing.

I only got one opportunity to use this in a match so far. And it worked pretty well, stuffing Napalm Pillar assist from a defensive Valentine. Dunno if I just got lucky with the timing or whatever.

I can’t seem to land s. MP after the wall bonce from an air Gregor Sampson to continue combos. Any tips. It whiffs on characters that require the dash after landing and the characters that don’t.

What are filia’s safe strings? And what buttons should I be using for hitconfirmg? A lot of people use cr.mk and its really unsafe if its not pushblocked.

The only safe normal Filia has is her s.mp which is +5. Also, hitconfirming should be off her c.lp(I think, or maybe its c.lk?), but if you play with an assist you can hit confirm with cr.mk. For example, if i start off with c.lp c.lk c.mk and i see the opponent blocked my c.mk, i immediately call my cerecopter assist so it gives Filia time to recover, if they do not block it, its a free combo. I think Filia is one of those characters that plays better with assists.

I’m using parasoul napalm pillar but was asking because I was hoping that filia had something to poke around while solo. Cerebella limits my movement when I don’t have an assist using aa grab, armor, j.hp, h.jk when I air dash in, and punishing everything on the ground with command grab. :frowning:

Just adding: Hairball is TK capable. Meaning that TK 2147 LK could be used as another AA.

Hairballs hitbox is pretty terrible though. At best it’s going to trade.

Can someone tell me what exactly causes Samson to sometimes not wallbounce people at all, sometimes bounce them to the middle of the screen, and sometimes bounce them to the corner? I haven’t been able to make out any consistency in this behavior.
