FGs You Dislike...but Why?

This was what I was told about the story.

But I was still in China when it happened. But he could have very well done it.

I have punched holes in things to out of nowhere NTR scenes in good manga, so it’s very possible if he was like me from a few years ago and very pissy with how his things are handled.

NTR scenes are amazing though, when done correctly.

Teruaki Murakami has that shit down to a science.

Oh also, seriously, skullgirls.

I can’t even say I hate it, I just feel bad for everyone involved.

Every time a new Soul Calibur comes out, I end up really appreciating the movement in the previous installment. I couldn’t even really describe what feels different about it; it’s weird.

Fun and balanced game with gorgeous sprites and lively characters. It’s actually good, but it did not live up to the hype my friends were telling me. They said things like “3rd Strike/Blazblue/Tekken Killer!!!” or even “BEST FG EVAR!!!”

I played it, and it IS pretty good. Just nowhere near the best, but the beautiful thing about it is the balance put into it. like d3v said, it’s probably the most competetive fighter out there and is fun at the same time. That’s always a cool combination, because that’s hard to achieve with fighting games.

EDIT: Admittingly enough, I found myself hooked after I brought it to a couple parties and played practically the whole night, ha. It’s an attention-catcher. Miss Fortune rules.

I don’t think I would ever play the Dead or Alive franchise. Even if the game gets to a point where its on par with Virtua Fighter is game design, the choices they made in their advertising and who they market their games to will turn me away for life.

I wish I was good at anime games and Marvel, I really do. But I guess my mind just can’t handle all these things happening at the same time, or these insanely long combos that these games have.

I guess I’m stuck with slightly slower fighters, sadly the craziest I can go and still understand what I’m doing is King of Fighteers.

Street Fighter X Tekken = boring, slow, gems, timer, DLC scandal …

Soul Calibur 5 = (actually a solid game, but) story mode is pathetic, the 2 new main characters are pathetic crybabies, way too many cool characters gone and bad new ones, many fighters way too similar to each other, character creation doesn’t allow you to choose particular styles …

Darkstalkers: I like some of the character designs and the stages but the music is meh, the sprite work just looks off. It looks low-rez. There’s just something unappealing about the sprite work which is weird for me because every other games made on CPS2 looks really good. The gameplay I just find unappealing. It uses magic combos in a weird way. In nearly every other fighter with Magic combos and you jump in with let’s say Heavy, you can do Lp, LK, MP, MK, special or launcher or whatever. Not in DS you’re just going for that knockdown and the followup. Or you’re just applying pressure.

I’m probably misunderstanding some things but I just don’t get those games. And in addition:

New Capcom fighters: Comeback mechanics, loose/easy inputs, and now DLC/Pay to win BS. Too bad because they’re finally starting to use rollback netcode.

Virtua Fighter: Anyone who plays 3D fighters probably doesn’t have a big problem with it but if you come from 2D fighters than it feels like an entirely different ball game. As soon as you get close I feel like the whole game boils down to a Rock/Paper/Scissors match.

Tekken: Boring. So boring. So bland. It’s just the epitome of boring. TT2 looks slightly less boring.

KOF 98/02: In 98’s case it’s stiff controls. I really tried to give that game a chance a few years ago and the controls just turn me off to it every single time. 02 has slightly better controls but I still have issues with it. Plus the TOD BS is high.

Garou MOTW: I’d still put it in my Top 10 Fighters of all time list. It’s the game that got me into fighters along with MVC1. The controls are perfect. It’s a fun game. Every now and then I play it casual but then came 3S… And Garou is a good fighter but let’s be honest it’s SNK’s answer to SF3. And while it didn’t take SNK three tries before they made a great game, Capcom made 3S. Enough said. 3rd Strike is a far deeper and more rewarding game than Garou could hope to be. And while I still love Garou and give it it’s much deserved respect and the players that still play it. It’s no 3S. It’s not a black and white difference between the two games but once you start dedicating the time and effort into both titles you realize pretty early which game is superior.

don’t hate any of them.
just a lot that don’t hold my interest or inspire me to improve.
99% of which is based on community, not the game itself.

if you have no community. or no way to connect to skilled/experienced players, it’s going to be hard to stay excited and interested.
also. i think SFxT is a fun game for what it is. i’m not sure what people were expecting from it. tag team with 2 people per side is great.

I’m sorry… what? Deception and Deadly Alliance were great, and Armageddon was good(although it would have been better with actual fatalities). MK4 played almost exactly like every other Mortal Kombat before. Are you on drugs? And EX wasn’t that bad either. Wasn’t great, but it wasn’t exactly the MKvsDCU of Street Fighter, you know?

Anyways, more on topic:

Personally, I was never really a fan of Darkstalkers. I just couldn’t get into it. Also, Street Fighter Alpha always felt a little slow paced to me. Oh, and Skullgirls just really didn’t do it for me.

Fun in their own way but unless you have a very low standard for how games look and play then I don’t see how the word “good” applies…and this is coming from someone who owns both DA and Dec.

Lol no need to get testy I’m not on any type of drug that’s why I’m not blinded by comparing a newer generation of MK and being satisfied that it plays exactly like the previous version.

Marvel/“Anime” Style Games
Most Tag/Team Based Games

I like my fighters to be highly ground based, no air combo’s, no air dashing, no air blocking, with exceptions, and I’m not a fan of screen filling attacks + flashy special effects taking up majority of the screen, it just gets too jumbled up and it reaches a point where I don’t even know what’s happening anymore. I generally dislike tag/team games, but TTT2 does it really well imo. I can’t stand things like assists/strikers though.

How can you hate Bushido Blade 2? :shake:

OK I have a good one,

Samsho5. Took a good series, kicked it in the nuts.

How did SamSho5 ruin the serious, I’m really curious why you think that?

Just about every way :stuck_out_tongue:

Bad mechanics changes (with the exception of changing throws, which had to happen, but even that they did in the laziest possible way), bad visual design on the new characters (excepting Rera who kind of doesn’t count and maybe Mina), horrendous feel, skimped animations, its just terrible.

It shit all over my favorite series in ways I didn’t think possible.

You are quite literally the only long term SamSho fan I know who feels that way about 5/5SP. Like what mechanics were changed that ended up bad and what do you mean by horrendous feel?

5 in general has a bad rap, people always say ‘but SP makes it so much better!’

Feel is a bunch of aesthetic stuff, but its animation feels more choppy visual design is bad, there’s a huge lack of ‘impact’.

Mechanicswise, I hated them taking out slash/bust but that’s minor. The spirit thing however is stupid, as is their replacement for SS4 rage (or whatever it was called).

As a bonus, I thought slash/bust was a cool thing they shouldn’t have taken out, especially given how lame suija, enja, and rasetsumaru (sp) were.

So in full, it was an obvious cut-rate sequel done by an outside company (examu, right? don't remember for sure) for a low budget and it shows.

Honestly not a huge fan of 5 SP or 6 either, but they're plenty good enough, especially compared to 5.

Complaining about Samurai Shodown 5 is like complaining about Street Fighter 3: 2nd impact. Everyone knows they’re bad. That’s why we have 5SP and 3S. So I don’t get why you’re hung up on 5.
