I don’t “hate” or even really dislike the game, but MvC3/UMvC3. The game is filled with far too much BS for me to ever try to take it seriously again. Not to mention that I feel restricted on types of combos I can do (in my eyes, most of the combos are just magic series and variations of that). The music is ass. The netcode is sub-par at best. And they didn’t give us that robust story they promised, not to mention that they retconned their own story in the actual game. Story may not seem like a big deal to some of you all, but it means a whole fucking lot to me!
… and replaced by a boobless brat who looks like a Narutard…
Fatal Fury.
Going back and forth between foreground and background…
Stupid as fuck.
Who’s the retard that thought that’d be a great idea? :shake:
We’ve nailed just about every bad fighting game that even exists, did we miss any honorable mentions?
Yu Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament…the damn game loads each and every time you tag in/out. Younger Toguro is a broken mess complete with a 20 hit massacre that no other cpu fighter has.
Final Bout GT Just an ugly representation and slow as all hell.
Super DBZ…Sorry I just don’t see the fascination with this game outside of the art and some customizing options. YYH Ankuko Bujutsukai…did this game engine 100% better.
I see someone mention Project Justice earlier so I’ll mention Rival Schools just to even things up.
Soul Blade/Edge Even for a very early 3D fighter this shit looks and PLAYS so much worse than the first Tekken.
Fighter Maker was never made for the N64.
He’s probably talking about Deadly Arts.
Mag did say playstation only
Natsu’s there to replace her…but she lacks Taki’s possession back-turned throw. The reason I loved playing Taki.
Taki was fun. I will miss her. Natsu just doesn’t feel the same as her at all to me.
And I’m stumped on what fighting games I dislike at the moment. There’s not too many I actually hate to the bone that I’ve played, which is probably a good thing. Most of the games I listed a few posts back (the really big one) are most of my favorite games, I was just nitpicking on features I didn’t like or changes that hindered the series. Removing Taki, Seung-Mina, and Yun-Seung was a big mistake on Soulcalibur’s part. Damn age limit…
Haven’t cared for Yun-Seung much after SC2, he turned really goofy. I Miss Hwang alot too, but we lost him after the first two games… Bleh…
Probably the only reason I haven’t bought SCV, it’s missing my favorite spear girl. I can do without Yun-Seung, but Seung-Mina was the one who got me into the series since Soul Blade, and I hate to see her gone as well, and I loved Taki in SC2, that was her best rendition ever. Sigh but times have changed I guess…
Edit: And they kept Ivy for ovious reasons… Whatever Namco.
There’s no substitute for that woman’s badassery.
Natsu will never be the badass that Taki was. She’s nowhere near as interesting. (though I could say the same for the other new chars…)
ZWEI is halfway cool and he’s probably the best new character, Natsu is a Taki [S]clone[/S] replacement without much story behind her, Leixia was okay but not as graceful as her mother, and… Then we have Xiba, a Yun-Seung and Kilik hybrid… Now this guy is a f**king goofball. Don’t like him one bit, and he doesn’t have much to do with the story either (besides bitch and whine he’s hungry). Not sure about Viola, haven’t tried her yet, but her design is interesting.
Soul Calibur 5.
Granted I’m still willing to play because it isn’t too awful. But it just seems like a downgrade from 4.
I’m not oppposed to the loss of CF. I didn’t disagree with the super meter or the speed increase.
But it was like a trade off for a dumbed down, cut down move list. Every stylle feels stripped down. Leeixia no longer has low grab shenanigans Xianghua has.
Then you took away several key styles.
This game should’ve been a LOT better.
I miss my Create-a-Soul Iron Sword fight style… I prefer SC3 out of all SC games just for the sheer diversity and roster alone.
SCV is the 3rd Strike of the Soul series. Technically, it’s one of the best, yet everyone hates on it for some reason or other (despite most of its prequels being worse).
I thought SCII was the 3rd strike of the SC series? It was basically all guard impacts at high-level play.
And each installment had its own perks. SC1 for being the first game (even though soul edge was technically the first), 2 for the fast and technical gameplay, 3 for the content and roster, 4 for… Star Wars and anime bonus characters…I guess? and then 5, for bringing newer gameplay elements, and some cool mechanics. And also, a very nice customization mode. SCV isn’t bad, it just needed more. It was definitely a step in the right direction content-wise compared to 4. But like everyone said, it took away a lot of the diversity. Yeah new fight styles, but a lot of modes and fan-favorites are missing, and story mode has been sucking balls ever since the first game.
Admittingly it is addictive and fun, so it’s not bad. Just hope if they make another SC, it’s a lot better.
Because it’s technically the best versus style game made in recent memory, IPS takes away braindead infinites yet still allows for that trademark touch of death gameplay. Also, alot of Mike_Z’s design decisions on the system (such as the input system, tutorial mode, numeric ping times, etc.) are things that every other fighter needs to have.
Underlined part is exactly the same thing as the SFIII series and what makes SCV similar (other than the fact that Daishi admits that he thinks that 3S is the greatest fighting game of all time). That, and it’s arguably the most competitive the game has been - SC2, as much as I love the game, is pretty broken, mostly to how Step~G made sidestepping invulnerable to highs and mids as well as weird design decisions like making the best moves in the game too safe.
Glad I never played SCII competitively then, lol. It felt balanced to me, but never really got too good at it, so what do I know.
As for 3rd Strike, I always got my ass kicked, but loved the game. It was my absolute favorite street fighter, and I’m not even that big of a fan of the series. It is good.
SF4 was a disappointment though.
It’s pretty straightforward really, SC1 and 2 tended to break down at a competitive level after years of play and development, but they had that certain *je ne sais quoi *that makes a game just really beloved at all skill levels. Five just can’t match their feel, so it’ll never get the love.
I’ll straight up say that my friends and I milked SCIV for everything it’s worth, and probably more than it should’ve been worth.
It isn’t mechanically the best, but my God did we have fun with it. Lots of gimmicks to use in that game that kept us digging.
Then SC5 comes out and everything seems too cut and dry.
And yes, I am salty over no Mi-na, no Yun-seong. Those two were what I put the most work into in SC4, so not being able to run my Yun-seong shenanigans at a quickened pace hurts.
I stuck with Leixia because at least I knew something about Xianghua in SC4, but it’s still not the shame. The things that would’ve worked amazingly well in this system aren’t even there.
One of my friends flipped a table when he unlocked Kilik to find Kilik = Mokujin, especially when Xiba is more awkward to play than Kilik.
I’d still play it, but it isn’t my favorite. It could’ve been much better in my eyes, even if it is the best SC game.
Like, literally?
Because I’m pretty sure I did the same thing.
