FGs You Dislike...but Why?

It turned it into a strategic rock/paper/scissors into a mash fest with dark backgrounds. What’s to like? The OP bosses?

Thread about games we hate, and I hate SS5.

Also, to take what I know is a controversial position (but is one I honestly believe), 5SP made up maybe 2/3 of the gap the series dropped. There is no 3S in the samsho games… or more specifically the 3S is SS4.

I always thought tony (the guy with the afro) was overpowered, just run around in circles while mashing O and you will win every round.

I usually can’t get into fighting games that have long drawn out combos. It’s probably because I started playing with SF2, but current games like UMvC3, SFxT, KOF, and even TTT2 just turn me off with how long and drawn out the combos are.

I find mixups and setups much more interesting than some 10 second long combo. At least put in a mechanic to break up the monotony.

^In old KOF games, a 3-4 hit combo could do up to 40% easily.

And in TTT2, poking is pretty damn strong, a single hit can easily dish out major damage in that game if you set it up properly.

I dislike SFxT because I like to jump on the band wagon.

Do you use the defensive option-selects to cover yourself after your move is blocked, you’ve been hit counter hit? VF at its for core breaks down to Tick Throw set ups, with Elbow mixed in. The RPS system is no more different than other fighting games with the exception that it gives you more defensive options to break the RPS parts down to one choice.

People coming from other 3D fighters as well have a hard time with VF because of the exchanges happen in 1-2 hits, and even though you can space just like other 3D/2D fighters, it’s easier to engage the opponent because of forward dash being the best dash in the game. The spacing and whiff punishing game in Namco and DoA games is that of the 2D games, so people feel more comfortable with those.

On topic: 3rd Strike and the DoA series just for the universal mechanic of turning the flow around. They have their punishes but it’s too cut and dry making it uninteresting to watch or play for long periods of time.

CvS2, TTT 2, SFxT, SFIV: the matches go on forever so watching them is sleep inducing. The slow paces don’t help.

SG/ArcSys/Marvel: I don’t dislike these games but playing them for stretches at a time can get boring due to the length of the combos. If you get hit, you mostly just sit there and watch only to be on the lookout for a reset, that’s nothing more than guessing off a coin flip. I will say that looking at the person getting hit by the combo is the best part of watching these games. More streams should show the person getting hit by them.

Caveats in these are that once in a while there are some 3rd Strike matches I enjoy, and GG is always blast to watch. Haven’t seen too much of P4A to be honest. I dabble in it but that’s about it.
