Uhh
I never liked MVC2. You had slim to no chance of coming back after your first character died, graphics were bad, the physics and gameplay weren’t good for me either. It just wasn’t enjoyable for me.

Then you werent paying attention. also, i’ve never seen you on dustloop, while hecatom has been there for a long time.
also:
1)most of those who complain about SFxT’s dlc don’t care enough about BB to complain about that
2)not everyone who like BB enough to be willing to pay whatever amount of money would tolerate “similar” dlc in other games because they dont like them as much. similar to certian capcom players complaining about bad netcode in other fighters but not their own
3)you’re basing some stupid, pointless, flimsy argument of “why do some people complain about some dlc and not some other, different dlc” on your limited exposure to public opinion on various parts of the internet, and conflating some people’s opinions so that you can assume some sort of hypocrisy.
except people who actually play fighting games dont ask for their games to change drastically each iteration, so you are probably talking to people who dont really play seriously
3S: for taking over the the karnov’s revenge room with a bunch of shitlords who are too cheap to pay $10 for a game they supposedly love more than any other.
Akatsuki eins perfeckwelt: for ruining the akatsuki franchise by straying from the formula too much and adding moe magical girls, airdashes, and rainbows all over the place.
The masters fighter: because SK made me play
I dont hate any FGs
mvc3 hands down.
A disc for Extend is necessary for Arcsys to survive in terms of profits, I’m not denying that. But I still don’t see how the balance change from CS to Extend is worth a new disc release content-wise, it’s a waste of money to the consumer.
It doesn’t seem business ethical at all if a publisher keeps disc releasing a same version of a game with little features thrown in. Of course the dedicated fanbase will eat that up, but the casual players won’t, and casuals make up a percentage of their profits as well so they should never be counted out. And over time the dedicated fanbase will get tired of the same shit over and over. That’s pretty much why the Blazblue scene is steadily declining, people are getting bored and moving onto other things because there hasn’t been anything remotely new to give it any sort of attention.
I don’t think there were a lot of people saying Alpha 2 and Alpha 3 were the same shit because… they weren’t. At all. Alpha 2 and Alpha 3 are completely different games. That’s why there was no outrage. Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 were completely different games, too. It’s the same deal with KOF - the difference between KOF’99 and KOF2k? Huge. KOF2k and KOF’01? Huge.
These iterations were vastly different from each other in almost every sense other than sharing a mildly similar character roster. Trying to throw the ‘same shit’ card at these games would only expose people as being completely ignorant of the games.
As for Guilty Gear and BlazBlue… did you ever notice how Guilty Gear X and XX were really, REALLY popular, but then the scene slowly died down to becoming a niche game? Did you ever notice how BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger was possibly the biggest fighting game at the time when it released, and now it’s to the point where BBCSEX comes out with almost no fanfare at all?
It’s because when you release mild update after mild update over and over again, it kills the scene. Not many people want to pay full price for what basically amounts to the same game with very slight differences, even if it is an objectively all-around better game. Splitting the scene is never a good idea, and the only way you can sell a ‘Revision 2.00’ to most the existing scene for more than $10 is if you manage to add and/or change up (for the better) enough stuff to where it’s like comparing Alpha 2 to Alpha 3, as opposed to comparing Alpha 2 to Alpha 2 Gold. I mean, think back to Alpha 2 Gold and how well THAT did.
Hell, think back to how the fanfare for SF4 upgrading to SSF4 was, compared to upgrading from SSF4 to SSF4AE. Worlds of fucking difference, and it’s no coincidence why either.
I can tell you right now, even as a kid, I bought Street Fighter II and that was it. Once it became clear to me what Capcom was doing, I ended up becoming an SNK fanboy.
people who actually play fighters for being fighters: pay $40 for an update and shit to a game i played for hundreds of hours last year? sweet
otherwise: bbcse had story mode stuff i guess, abyss mode is fun as fuck, maybe it has other shit animu lords like, i dont know. whether or not it is profitable on a casual level depends on arcsys, so our little debating means nothing on that level
guess what: you’re on the wrong site if you’re bitching about if updates are “business ethical.” people who go to tourneys and meetups dont mind paying money for updates like this because the replay value is insane. also, every game declines as new shit comes out. that’s just how it is. only so much change without making games and characters completely different is really possible anyway. maybe you expect bb, kof13, gg, sc5 etc to morph into marvel or something to “keep people interested”, but that’s silly.
tbh, extend probably would have had more content i bet if arcsys wasnt working on persona. just speculation, though.
um, you do realize how many kofs there were, right
the thing here is that you are on the wrong site, in fact, you are not the people who those games are aimed to
if you feel that those revisions, kill the games or that they need to be free
1st dont understand how the fighting games and the communities around them work
2nd, are part of the casual market that buys only one game, but then bitch about the others that come later for random shit like the ones up there
its really surprising how sport games dont have this kind of problem, but fg have all those idiots that come with some ludicrous theories and shit that its simply mindblowing
seriously how stupid have you need to be to think that a revision that adress problems on a game, and makes more balanced, can kill the scene, specially when is the same scene who wants this changes and more characters in the 1st place, the only thing that i see, as usual is that people who are really interested stay, all the people who complaint are the people who only cares for lolstory, and stupid stuff that it doesnt matter, people who only come for the exitement of the new toy, but after that leave for the new flavor of the month, if they only went away silently, but no, they need to bitch and moan
btw some casual turd who buys the game to play it in their house are not part of the scene, the same goes for stream monsters, at any rate you are fg aficionados, but dont even dare to think that you are part of the scene, when you dont go to tournaments, or at least take part of local gatherings at least once
for me you are the cancer that its killing the fgs, yes people like you bring the money, but in the long run, you are the 1st group to jump outside the boat and make a fuss for dumb stuff, just look at scv, a great game shunned because the casual market dont have a story mode or more 1p modes, despite the game being a solid game with great netcode and fairly balanced for the 1st time
Jst counted them, 15!
Sent from my Radar 4G using Board Express
Sf4 because its slow as shit and boring hate looking at it
mvc3,I play mvc3 I dont train at all just pick cheap shit, anyways its just easy, random for me
virtuta fighter I find it more boring than sf4 it just feels very dated an the characters look boring
blazblue…can they just end it and go back to gg,bb would be a solid anime but the game is hella boring
also I dont really like what capcom did with sfxt in terms of dlc I think it would have been better to not have put them on the disc but yeah bbcs2ex is prob a worse deal than anything capcom’s done really 40 dollars for a balance change and 1 new character and you cant play with people from cs2
Like the7k said, if the game doesn’t warrant a major change upon each release, the general fanbase will come to a point where they won’t pay for it anymore.
Servicing the dedicated players only doesn’t make the scene grow. It just makes it stagnant since the game doesn’t have anything new to offer, and over time it’ll just die out. It’s ignorant to say that a game should only matter to a certain demographic when in actuality it should be meant for everyone. If you believe Arcsys should target their games only at the people who want to play it competitively, isn’t that pretty close-minded?
Again, fine proof of elitism and ignorance. That’s not even relevant to our discussion.
I’ve actually had my fair share of going to Blazblue locals and a major and they were pretty fun. But the one thing I noticed about them is that there were less entrants and less enthusiasm about them every month.
I never once said anything about updating being ‘unethical’. Never once. I just said that, when you have to throw money down on updating it, it’s going to split the scene. That’s not an opinion, it’s observational fact - we’ve seen it happen many, many times, even with Capcom games.
The people who go out to tourneys and meetups SPECIFICALLY for BlazBlue? The passionate fans? Of course they’re going to buy the update. But what if you aren’t a passionate fan? What if you only play the game on the side? What if you main game is SF, or Marvel, or KOF or whatever? What if BlazBlue isn’t even your secondary game?
You can like a game without being fanatically devoted to it. You can be an active part of a game’s scene without it being your first, second or even third game of choice. When you sell an upgrade at or near full cost of a new game, you’re cutting out the intermediate players - and intermediate players serve a function in a community.
Also, I switched to SNK before KOF was even a thing, honestly. The biggest contributor to switching was the Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown series. I still personally find the changes from KOF’95 to KOF’96 to be far greater than the changes from SF2 to SF2:CE. (And I love CE.)
The cancer killing fighting games? Really?
A) Yes, I do go to tournament. As much as I fucking can. AS MUCH AS I FUCKING CAN. If I didn’t have to work and drive 2-3 hours just to get to a tournament, I’d be at one every damn day, but I’ll settle for just going to one every damn week. I might not win shit, fucking ever, but I support my god damn scene.
B) Local gatherings? Again, YES, AS MUCH AS I FUCKING CAN. When we go longer than a week without a gathering, I get restless. Again, don’t call my fucking loyalty into question EVER A-FUCKING-GAIN. I’ve done as much as I can with this community. I have donated prizes for local tournaments and I have bought equipment specifically for my local scene. Don’t talk about shit you don’t know about.
Just because I don’t feel like buying the same game twice when there are plenty of other options out there doesn’t mean shit other than my money is not going to be easily parted with.
well I dont like alpha 1 I dont hate it I just dont like it
and if you actually read what i said, you would notice that i never accused you of such.
this is a problem that every game faces, although some games to a lesser extent, like marvel 2. do you really think attracting more anime story fans is going to help in this regard? if not, what is your solution?
What does “attracting anime story fans” have to do with anything? Not everyone plays Blazblue competitively, some like it for the story since it’s pretty extensive and has some sort of depth to it. They’re still considered part of the fanbase whether or not they show up to tournaments or not. They still matter.
The only thing that can save the Blazblue scene is when they release a version that isn’t the same game with a tweaked rebalance. Disc releases that don’t have major changes won’t bring in new players and past players that dropped the game since there’s nothing new about it.
Have you stopped to think that the new disc with balance updates but no new story content isn’t meant for the people in it for the story?
Then what’s the gain of selling a game on a disc if it’s directed towards certain types of players only? I don’t see any reason to spend $40 for a balance update that’s comparable to the free balance patch CS received. If a publisher puts out a disc release, it shouldn’t just be subtle changes that don’t warrant it’s price, because you’re basically buying the same game.
You can argue with me about how different Extend is from CS, but in the end there’s nothing new about it. CT to CS was appropriate for a disc release because most of the battle system changed which made the overall pacing of the game different. CS to Extend kept the same battle system and just tweaked the characters to make most of them competition viable, which could’ve been done with a simple update instead of a brand new disc.
UMVC3=no like cause of xfactor
SFXT=no like cause I dont like any of the characters
Marvel vs Capcom games
Street Fighter vs Capcom or whatever is called.
King of Fighters games
Soul Calibur IV and V.
Virtua Fighter games.
I really Hate Marvel vs Capcom games, to much bullshit happening on the screen, easy combo oriented bullshit, lots of hits in a combo, infinities, etc etc
