FGD Lounge: for general fighting game discussions that aren't thread worthy

the only thing that matters is that is a hot garbage mechanic and no game should have shit like that.

Ugh, i hate watching xrd on stream because i swear they always play the same fucking stage. Its so fucking infuriating, because the game has some beautiful stages and music, but a whole top 8 will usually be played on the below stage.

Maybe its because stage cleaner.

Imagine being Dieminion.
Imagine playing the same character with only 2 special moves for 7 years.

Considering that Guile has had the same 2 moves for over 30 years now, I’m sure that there are Guile mains who’ve had to live with this for far longer.

Where might someone find high level Soul Calibur 2 footage/discussion?

I’d try 8WayRun.

The problem with the SC community though is that there is a large casual but active fanbase that makes its presence known in their forums, so at times, it’s hard to find the stuff you’re looking for.

My experience with Soul Calibur fans is they put more stock in the single players modes most other FG communities I’ve encountered. I find that so odd since the series single player isn’t anything to write home about. Though SCIII’s Chronicle of the Sword was insanely fun.

Probably down to a couple of things. First, when the DC version came out, it came out at the right time to get alot of mainstream attention. Second, CAS which does attract a good number of folks, but are banned from tournament play.

Idk why, but I think Nightmare would make a greatttt hidden (NPC) character in Tekken. Either like Akuma in SF with ridiculous requirements, or a the end of a mission mode like Night Terror in SC3.

Namco owns the rights and it’d just be good fun imo~

SC2 and SoulBlade single player modes were really good, too.

To this day, I don’t get why we have Cole, Mega Man, Pac Man, and the cats in SFxT but no Darkstalkers or Soul Calibur characters. I mean, fuck, I would pay money to play that. Especially since the game has Darkstalkers chains to begin with.

Harada, I will concede Namco’s superiority over Capcom if you fix this for TxSF.

It would be sweet if Kazuya has a Demitri costume in customization mode.

Am I the only one who has a huge problem going from offline to online? Like I’ve been going to offline tournaments and sessions for years, I go online and it’s hard for me to adjust. I’ll lose badly to people I have no problem beating offline. It feels like no matter how good the netplay is, I have trouble punishing, confirming, or reacting to things that are easy to me normally. It especially sucks when I’m learning new games/matchups and I don’t know what’s me screwing up or what’s lag.

That’s too bad. I was gonna looking for Xianghua’s matchups in SC2.

Actually, if Namco’s using a Tekken-lite system for TxSF, there’s some characters better suited for each franchise than others. I think Felicia or Talbain/Gallon’s move sets would fit better than Morrigan or Demitri out of the Darkstalkers cast (the others are too obscure). As for the Soul Calibur characters, I don’t even know how they would do their button layout; I guess A=1, B=2, and K would be divided between the 3 and 4 buttons. I think Nightmare, Ivy, and Mitsurugi are the most iconic Soul Calibur characters, so it would probably come down to one of those 3.

Yeah people say Darkstalkers would look out of place in games with Street Fighter outside of vs titles. But if Pac-Man in a mech can work then why not a kung fu werewolf, or Succubus?

Speaking of Tekken, is there any consensus on which pre-TTT2 games are considered the best? T3, TTT1, T5DR?

TTT1 and T5DR are the best. T4 is generally seen as the black sheep.

Totally random thought but I’m curious if there was ever anything resembling high level play of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith.

With the new movie out I was naturally thinking about wanting to play a Star Wars fighting game and I remember that game holding up fairly well.
