yea it is mostly do to online play, also I just changed my HDMI cable to a VGA cable like 1 hr before playing nyquil, so the timing on everything was different (But great news the lag on my t.v. went from 38-42 ms, to around 8ms) But i wont lie, i do it sometimes while playing another person in real life, and i do it on my rekkas when they hit, also because all of my experience has been online, dropped inputs make me a sad panda. sorry to disappoint
ah, the rekkaās thing I totally understand. are you hitting HP super fast? I piano my inputs so Iām sure Iām not getting max damage sometimes. switching cables will definitely throw you off! I can definitely tell the difference between the milliseconds of different setups when i play. I hate it when it feels like Iām playing in water. playing in person is the best! donāt feel like I have compromise the way I play.
no i donāt piano the buttons, I churn butter with the stick and mash hp l. Yea i know what you mean about the playing in water comment, thatās how my old set up would be most times, not to mention the added trouble of latency online. Now its super crisp, thatās the best way i can describe it. Iām just glad I read that thread on here about HDTV lag and ways to get around it without buying a new TV. Having to make compromises when playing on different set-ups is the worst! Anyways thanks for the input!
So it isnāt as retarded as larait? Thanks. Iāll try that next time.
Imo FeiLong should be totally invulnerable before his first punch comes out. Last time I used it, it got beaten by ex psycho.

I repeat again, you are free to give your opinion/critics/advices/etcā¦ on those matches, thatās what make us improve and itās very important to watch others Feiās matches i think.
Enjoy and congratās to Starnab, his Fei was on fire (exept vs Luffy :p) and spectators were very enthousiastic about his Fei !
Good to see there were two FeiLongs on the list =P
Iāve only seen one match from EvAnS_95, the one against LordDVD. I noticed there were a few times you do a j.hk, missed and got grabbed. I wonder if itāll be better to use j.mk instead? I mostly use j.hk to punish, or mix with empty jumps to bait a dp since it has good range.
And Iām still struggling against Hondaās butt smash on wake ups.
I think you guys got a bit greedy on the offense against Luffy, especially when you were trapped in her up-close game. That really was the only match that I watched for the two of you (Iāll watch the others later).
Against Roseās cr.MP>Soul Spiral, youāre basically caught due to spacing. Roseās cr.MP doesnāt give her the same advantage as Feiās cr.MP, but because of spacing sheās basically safe. With Soul Spiral, she spaces herself out just perfectly so that a follow-up against her attack will whiff, allowing her another free cr.MP> Soul Spiral. In essence, when you block the first one she getās a 2nd one free if you continue to block. You should only try to punish when sheās deep enough to be hit by cr.LP> Rekkas and even then you have to be fast. [Comparatively, Starnab had good success with cr.MP>Rekka lock down, but I wouldnāt rely on this too much since Rose has invincibility on her EX Spiral to counter].
When youāre trapped like that, I would suggest to keep blocking or to backdash. Roseās options up close are limited to that, plus Fireball> FADC and the slide> Throw. If you block, you only have to watch for those two approaches.
For the matches, I saw some spacing issues with CW which left you guys open to comboāStarnab used the wrong strength a couple times and also attempted to combo into a CW once :-p. For Evans, you fell for the backdash which forced you to misjudge the EX CW. Against Luffy, Iād cut down the distance from when you launch an EX CW (not full screen) and try to anticipate fireballs a little better (launch during her twirl instead of when the ball comes out, meaning more aggressive CW on normal FBs and less aggressive on EX).
On her knockdown, Iād try some ambiguous cross-ups. Not sure how reliable her Soul Throw is, but I donāt see Roses using this a lot to defend against jump-ins. I noticed that neither of you really used cross-ups in this match when you knocked the Rose downādunno why.
Iāll try to catch the other matches later.
[edit #1]
**Evans v. LordDVD: **
Good match, but I was hoping to see more consistency in the punishments against the headbutt. Recently Iāve taken to using EX Rekkas whenever I can since Hondaās arenāt too likely to throw out EX Headbutts randomly (maybe as jump-in punishment only). By using this, I ensure that I get maximum damage, and I can also fully punish all forms of headbutt without any guesswork. I think if you incorporate this, you couldāve scored a couple more punishments on Honda, even against shallow headbutts (LP versions).
Another thing that Iāve begun to incorporate is the double cross-over on a downed opponent. If the Honda doesnāt do a quick rise, I jump over his corpse and jump back. This kills his back charge, taking away his invincible headbutt wakeup and leaving him with Oicho, Butt splash, and back dash as wakeup options. For other wake-up advice, Iād suggest staying out of his immediate throw/butt splash range since those two are free damage on you if you decide to get too aggressive. Once youāve taught him not to use his headbutt randomly, stay a little out of his reach and use your Rekkas for medium-distance pressure.
In this match I also agree with BGF in that j.MK, or even j.MP wouldāve increased your jump-in success rate on a crouching Honda.
Starnab v. Yamazaki:
Lol, it actually was really exciting, only because it was so close. I think when you look at all the āfinger-flubsā, youāll see that there were a number of missed chances for damage that were obviously within each playerās control. Kinda frustrating on both ends, but makes for a really edge-of-your-seat match. Overall, nice footsies and offensive pressure.
** Starnab v. Renegad: **
The second round Iām sure was yours for the taking, but the urge to finish the boxer off forced you to take damage that you couldāve probably avoided by jumping away/playing defensively. You had a sizeable life-lead. I think if you calmed down a bit and tried to time a counter, you wouldāve finished him off with one EX Flame Kick easily.
In the last round it kinda sucks but the major mistake there was just missing the punishment on the Tenshin. I think if you nailed that one, things wouldāve gone completely the opposite direction.
** Evans v. Jin:**
Very straightforward match, the Ryu wasnāt aggressive at all. I saw you missed the Super cancel, but you didnāt need it there. Good game :wgrin:
Ugh I found out that I tend to do really bad against characters who have funky or really small hit boxesā¦man, I hate that crap. Also is it just me or is Rose is a bitch to fight againstā¦her ridiculously small hitbox, her seemingly invincible backdash and incredibly misleading throw range. I seriously need more knowledge of this matchup as well. I remember losing to Saqās Rose pretty badly a long time ago. I also hate going against Hondasā¦heās got Balrogās and Abelās hitbox where they may seem big vertically but horizontally speaking, their lead foot and a part of their body seems to not have a hitbox which will make your pokes or tenshin whiff. Really screws me up. But anyhow, great job to StarNab and Evans on representing Fei Long! That shit has got me mad hyped!!! BTW Evans, what happened to Franceās best Akuma player? Did he not make it or was he taken out?
Anyhow, Iām gonna be entering the Final Round tournament here in ATL, Georgia!!! Time to represent Fei Long here in the U.S!!! Haha but Iām soooooooooo friggin rusty itās not even funnyā¦man I need to really level up and sharpen my skills. Iām deciding whether to switch to a PS3 pad or stay with my xbox360 controllerā¦the thing is, the ps3 controller feels a lot more comfortable and my reaction time is much faster but the timing is so much more different b/c of the pad. Now Iām finding that Iām buffering rekkas into rekka super soooo much more b/c my thumb is moving too fast since Iām not used to the shorter execution. Iām even having trouble doing Feiās BnB combo. The xbox360 controller is what Iām used to but that doesnāt mean it doesnāt have itās drawbacksā¦because I use the analog stick, the motion input takes longer to execute as opposed to a pad where you can just move your thumb slightly. As a result, I canāt really react fast enough to flamekick jump ins and sometimes itās hard to even crouch block b/c I canāt tell whether Iām moving the stick far down enough. Not to mention dashing is a bitch to do w/ the analog as well. Ugh, wish me luck guysā¦this will be my first tournament so hopefully I wonāt choke lol. I hear itās incredibly tense especially since you have pros and players alike dissecting your gameplay and talking behind your back. YIKES!
Youre both right for the Jump in, but itās all my fault, bad spacing, i wanted enjoy too much the j.hk blockstun to apply a mind game after (Tenshin etcā¦). About headbutt : LP headbutt can be punished only when you stand block (2:26), DVD knows this so he use st.hk (low hit) to crush my standing position (you have to know that dvd plays A LOT with star and me, he perfectly knows the matchup). And i know that ex hb is punishable with EX rekkas (1:56 ; at 3:30, i thought that my EX gauge was on the leftā¦ shame on me.)
Versus Jin : yeah i missed super cancel, i could perfect him after haha !
But thanks for the advices ! OTHERS FEI PLAYER => letās participate !
EDIT : Tsua, good luck 4 your tourney and show them how fei ROCKS ! The Akuma player works a lot so he can participate too any tournaments, itās so bad, he can go very far on a competition :S
i agree with nosone about the rose matchup. backdashing after cr.mp of a cr.mp -> soul spiral is a good bet. i havenāt played this match up in so long, but I doubt a EX or HK CW will do you any good on those. my good rose playing friend hasnāt played SFIV in forever.
Oh is it really only punishable on stand block? Hm, Iām probably getting lucky on those Good to know though.
Yikes on forgetting which was your bar :looney:
Good stuff starnab and evans. Canāt believe that sagat did a taunt instead of winning, so glad he lost in the end.
Uploaded vids from a tourney last weekend

Good stuff Starnab, Evans and RPGv2!
ps - good luck Tsua on ur tournyā¦
Hey RPGv2 ggs for winning. Nice EX CWs through fireballs man.
Some points i think you can improve :
-
Your execution, too much fail in your BnBs and too much time you thank that you can jab 4 times instead of 3 (sagatās hitbox) or standing poke instead of keep getting crouch (when heās crouch but depending to the range too).
-
first rekka confirm and c.mp (counter) confirm
-
Your jump ins are waaaay dangerous ! fortunetly the sagat didāt react on it, he could tu you each time after your j.mp. But it works so you continued ^^ Just, the sagat was so passive that you could forward throw him to send him to the corner or tenshin.
-
When a sagat blockstring is too much repetitive, you can easily predict a tk and c.mk under it then free throw/bnb or CW HK (the long invincibility frames will make tk whiff and CW hit then => combo).
-
On the corner, you let Sagat too much free, i donāt tell you to rush him but keep a very close range (out of throw range and in c.lk range).
What was your final rank on this tourney ? What is the top ten (with which character) ?
Evans, Thanks for the advice. My execution used to be good but I retired a few months ago after I won a tourney around here. This was my first time playing since the end of October.
As for jumpins, I do them until Iām punished. Didnāt know about HK CW going through TK, iāll keep that in mind if I play again.
As for the top players they were:
1 Js Master (rog, rufus)
2 DaFlipMastaXV (rufus)
3 Rebelo (guile)
4 Chaos2d (ryu, rog)
5 Blitzman G (viper, rufus)
5 SpiralGuy (sagat)
7 Traininho (rog, sim)
7 Dice01 (sagat)
9 Buddah (seth, rufus)
9 RPGv2 (fei)
9 Saco Jericho (elf)
9 Nagata Lock II (chun)
(the characters werenāt listed on the results page, but thatās who I know they usually use)

Not very good on my part. My fei is a working progress. I just switched to him.
Not a bad effort, but obvious areas for improvement, especially against Abel (who should be like a walk in the park for Fei).
Your Fei could stand to be a bit more aggressive in this match; I think you were being a bit too cautious and failed to capitalize on some key areas:
-
An idle Abel is asking for MK CW to trap him. If heās crouch blocking in anticipation for your next move, heās definitely not buffering a falling sky, ultra or other move. Up close, its difficult to time a jab counter against the CW, giving you free chip damage and a chance to move into throw range. Here, Abelās options are mainly defensive once you nullify his Tornado throw (Flame Kick, jump, CW, backdash), affording you a great chance to mix it up on him.
-
Time your cross-ups better to avoid that early, awkward empty jump where youāve completely disclosed where youāre positioning your Fei, and have lost the element of surprise in terms of jump-in attacking.
-
Flame Kick a blocked Rekka by Abel; FADC it for the extra CW. Within throw range, dont be afraid to throw out a Flame Kick> FADC in order to gain a frame advantage on Abel even if heās blocking. This is a great offensive tool which severely limits Abelās options and opens a few more for you.
Donāt allow Abel to go on an offensive streakāinstead use your own pressure to force him back. Remember that your pokes are all faster than his so poke with confidence!
Oops think I posted this in the wrong areas. Please let me know what yaāll think!
