Fei Long Video Thread

not just cr.mk. But cr.lk too. And no, unlike bgf, I’d go for the meaty every time. You’ll recover in time to punish a headbut, if they try to jab you away, free combo (if you time your shit properly.)

Boxers only real option is to block in this situation, or jump back.

Hey guys, here are some vids of casual matches of me against Chat de Thunder’s Dhalsim. Thanks to him for recording! Anyhow he sent me a message saying that he wanted to record the first to 5 matches…lol unfortunately, I thought he said, “Best out of 5” lol…so after winning the first 2 matches, I started to kinda ease off knowing that I only had to win one more match to win the best out of 5…hence why I played kinda less aggressively and more recklessly later on. Yeah I was playing pretty dumb with all those jump ins…plus I was kinda spamming CW just to see how he’d react. He started sliding under them and so I had to adjust and start timing it better. I was also experimenting with Fei’s j. LP and you can see that it would beat some of Sim’s pokes!

Anyhow after he won a match or two, we kept on playing and I then realized he meant, “The first to reach 5 wins!!!” Haha I was like OMG I let it get wayyyy too close!!! Time to start playing more seriously!!! I ended up getting to 5 first but he was close with 4 wins. WHEW! GGs to him!!!

EDIT: Aw man, I think he forgot to record that match…the one where I was using j. LP quite a bit to beat Sim’s anti air basics. Ugh I also fell a lot for Sim’s slide > throw a lot for some reason…same thing when I fight against a Rose player too. I guess I’m just used to punishing slide attacks such as Blanka’s slide with cr. LP > rekkas however w/ Sim and Rose, they’re much safer it seems.

really nice stuffs Hotdawg.
And yea, I fell for Rose’s slide>throw quite often too. Maybe because Rose players are much less than Blanka’s.

Hey all

Here are videos of a ft3 that i made with Toshiya86 (probably the best french Gouki) during an offline session of the 8th of this January.

Imo, Gouki is the worse match-up for Fei Long, Gouki is very hard to beat on footsies because of his walk speed and his zoning is very solid plus, far HK breack many specials and normals. Fei have to be very carefull and the priority is to corner Gouki to reduce his options and to be the most solid possible. Here that’s where my concentration was : do not give him opportunity to place a 45% life bar combo lol.

Enjoy

Sometimes I’d FA from a distance, just outside his first hit of s.hk, so you’ll absorb only the second hit. Quite a few akuma players have the habit of using s.hk to break FA.

This match up is real tough for FeiLong for sure, but still think the sagat one is worse. Jumping over tiger shots 3/4 screen away isn’t really an option against kara s.hk/tiger knee/tiger uppercut. Stupid fucking one eye bastard.

Speaking of the Akuma match up, I just fought an Akuma player today. He’s pretty decent with the execution and his gameplay was quite solid. I lost something like 5-1. Then I switched my play style and starts to spam cw. he didn’t quite know how to deal with it and got his ass kicked in both rounds. He sent a hatemail saying “random moves and delay abuse, scrub” and left.
I lost all respect for him.

Why do so many people think they are gods and they only lose matches because their opponents “play dirty and unfair/lags etc”?
I guess losing to a low tier character with a high tier character really hurts their pride.
Actually, it seems a lot of rage-quitters and hatemails senders are high tier characters users.

Hum, imo the Akuma’s mtup is harder than the sagat one.
Ok, Sagat is Sagat, very strong attack and defence, easy Ultra, etc etc… but Fei still can beat him with spacing, in fact, Sagat has NOT footsie, he’s slow so there is an opportunity to control the mid range then corner him and do the work. Gouki can’t be spaced, and has a terrible zoning, Toshiya knows Fei well, he use to play against Starnab and me, The FA tips you gave is good but Toshiya know it and juste walk a little forward and double HK to bait my FA. The double hk is totally godlike, if you are hit by On double hk, it can make you loose the game because of the vortex after.

The FA tip is kinda like a gimmick. No good player will fall for that constantly, or even just twice. Getting close is a bitch and the bastard can teleport away from corner. But at least he takes damage like a girl. In fact, his stamina is lower than any female characters in the game.
But yea, the double hk combo hits hard. It really makes you feel inferior when you play against him with FeiLong. >_<
The only thing it couldn’t do is anti air. But the srk and cr.hp took care of that.

Maybe I just need to play more sagats (as if there isn’t enough of them online already), or I haven’t met really good Akumas yet. Akuma isn’t even on my top four worst match up. I have more problems with Ryu.

DjB13 has his new Combo Exhibition video up. It features 2 Fei Long combos.

Awesome Fei you got there…your execution is really top notch! Gouki is pretty tough but I’d much rather fight against Gouki than Sagat…reason being is when you’re behind in a Sagat fight, it’s hard to make a comeback but against Akuma, it’s more possible b/c of his lower health. Yeah his walk speed and footsies are really good and his demon flip mindgames and cross over tatsu’s can be a real pain but there are ways to deal with them. I find that j. neutral HK is great to counter Gouki’s st. HK…also cr. FP is good too. For cross over tatsu, you can simply st. LP him out of it or try a cr. MK to duck under it? I usually win against most Gouki players I face…does anybody know really good Gouki players? I’d like to test myself against them.

If you want greats Gouki, in europe, the top is :

  • zakbeast87
  • toshiya86
  • Violent VRyu (Considered as the best)
  • Violent Fuma
  • Kurosaki ita
  • Chocolilo

Thanks for the neutral j.HK and c.mk tips, true that i didn’t do it
But i don’t think the st.lp works.

I would love to play against those guys…damn I just wish we didn’t live so far. I don’t think they’d want to play me since we’ll probably only get 2 bars or so but honestly, if they don’t mind, I would still love to play them.

Anybody know any great Akuma players in the U.S? I fought against Blue Guile and Stay Crispy SRK’s Akuma before…that’s about the only really good ones I fought. Have yet to fight an SG rank Akuma though.

Hmmm, I think you gotta try walking forward abit and then do st. LP. I’ve had some luck with knocking him out but then again, it could be b/c my opponent timed the cross over Tatsu wrong. I’m not sure. =P

Heres a pretty HQ vid of me fighting a friend.

Just wondering what y’all think of my fei. I’m trying to get good with him…
enjoy the trance.

iperfectlegend from my or chat thunders friends list

Okay I just fought Iperfectlegend a few hours ago…damn I got my ass whooped. Pretty much surprised me lol…I just woke up, turned on SF4 and BAM he challenges me…took me a while to get warmed up but regardess, he’s got one beastly Akuma. He pretty much dominated me…his execution was spot on and damn, you just realize how shitty Fei’s flamekick is in this matchup…he can literally demon flip dive kick you all day as it’ll stuff your flamekick 90% of the time…can you do focus > dash back to escape it? Anyhow, I messed up on a lot of opportunities as well…he kept abusing cr. HK and for some reason, I always forget to punish it and he’d ALWAYS spam teleport after getting knocked down but I was soooo bad at punishing it…I would either rekka too soon or too late and he’d recover already by then or my rekkas will whiff. I really need to get the timing down on punishing his teleports. Also I’m not sure if it’s just me but I’m too much in love with not finishing rekkas for some reason…I like to reset too much lol and it backfires. Sometimes it’s best to just get the full guarenteed damage then trying to reset, especially against Akuma who can just teleport away…ugh but man, it’s a really bad habit of mine. LOL I think I’ve only been to training mode a handful of times…now I can see it really catching up to me. Pretty disappointed in my performance…but then again, I never fought against really good Akuma’s so this is a good lesson for me. But then again, I don’t think he’d wanna fight me again…he pretty much owned me. Geez, it’s hard to find people who want to train and help each other grow…

I fared much better against his Sagat but evenso, I screwed up so many times. I freakin hate the RB and RT buttons on the xbox360 controller…there were so many times where I tried to do flamekick FADC but it didn’t come out and ate a full combo afterwards. Plus there were several occasions where I could’ve punished him with Fei’s ultra but just totally forgot b/c Fei’s ultra is so shitty that sometimes I even forget he has an ultra LOL.

Hey Evans, you were right! Akuma is a worse matchup for Fei than Sagat lol! Sorry for not believing you haha! Hmm, but then again I wonder if it’s just a case of not knowing the matchup that well. I mean I fight A LOT of Ryu, Ken and Sagat players so I kinda know what to expect. With Akuma, he’s got so much more stuff to deal with such as air fireballs, kara raging demons, demon flip setups, cross over tatsu, st. HK pressure, fast walkspeed, and his freaking teleport that negates any kind of mindgame you want to do on him, etc. You have to fight him differently and really pick your spots…I think once I get a better handle of what Akuma’s all about, I’ll do better. The one thing that pisses me off is that once you knock him down, HE GETS to reset the distance/zoning game with his stupid teleport which is BS when Fei should be rewarded from the knockdown…

Hey Tsua,

You seem soooo discouraged haha. You finally accepted the fact that Gouki is the worse nightmare for Fei Long ^^
This is where i’m with Gouki :

No special Gameplan cause as you said, Gouki has too much tools, that’s a fact, Fei seems like a weack compared to him.
Imo, you “just” need to apply several tricks versus him avoiding to be kd’ed (knockdown) or rh’ed (roundhouse).

Here are tricks I found/do versus Gouki :

  • Solid footsies : you MUSN’T walk approximately versus Gouki. It appears pretty simple but when your opponent just runaway, the only thing you want is rushing him and hit him until K.O lol. So walk carefully, control the range and don’t eat roundhouse (don’t need to quote the consequences of a roundhouse). Don’t forget, the goal is to corner him.
FADC his air fireballs/fireballs and try to keep the optimal distance to punish fireballs on reaction with ex CW. (If he do air fireballs at bad range => dash forward then c.lp rekka but good Goukis don’t do it so…)

  • When Gouki is cornered : Keep a rekka lp range at his wake up and apply the usual pressing, in fact if you see him teleport => backdask then c.lp rekkas.
If you see him air fireball => Ultra/EX CW him and if you time it well, he’ll not be kd’ed then you can combo.

  • c.HK : Punish it with rekka lp rekka hp rekka hp BUT if you’re too far, don’t play with the devil, he can ULTRA you during your punition attempt

  • Demon flip punch and demon flip throw can be FK’ed. As you know the kick version breack all version of flame kick =_='
A little trick i do is wake up forward dash then c.lp rekkas. I think i did it once vs Toshiya (last match i think).

That’s all i remember but as you see, that’s just tips, nithong REALLY consisting, especially vs demon flips, Gouki has MANY MANY traps with it, it’s just… hell lol.

You can check Starnab’s matches versus Toshiya86, videos are in his Youtube’s channel i think.

Keep it up bro’ !

Yeah I’m pretty discouraged haha. Thanks for the tips though! LOL yep, I’m way too offensive…I hate walking with Fei b/c it feels like it takes FOREVER to catch up with your opponent since he walks so damn slow…that’s why I’m always using CW, rekkas, and dash to close in on my opponent. Unfortunately, that makes me vulnerable to counter attacks lol! I’m willing to take 3 hits just to land 1 haha! But man, I give a lot of props to you and StarNab…you guys are so patient in your matches. That’s definitely something I need to work on. Also I was practicing in training mode and it looks like you can punish Gouki’s cr. HK with reversal MP rekkas too just in case if he does it a bit farther and you can’t reach with LP rekkas…but like you said, just need to be careful b/c of kara raging demon!

Here are some matches of me and Nyquil. Let me know what ya think. I know i jump a lot, and its something that im working on. I also know that i need to work on my tech throws. Anything you guys notice let me know please!:china:

Sorry for the crapy video quality compared to some of these other uploads.

It also stuff ultra completely, which is bull crap.

I know you play well from first hand experience, but it saddens me that I hear you double or multi-tap the buttons to do almost everything :frowning: Your LPs and LKs hardly ever have this for the bnb links though, so that’s good. Guess it’s a thing you do because you mostly play online?

If you do ultra very late (after he started his dive kick), you’ll beat it
