Fei Long Video Thread

Nice stuff RPG. Most of your stuff was pretty solid dude. Could have made better choices at certain points match-up/strat-wise, but you were right much more often than you were wrong. BnB was fresh pretty much all the way through (you only really missed when you were out of range for your final low jab into rekka after s.jabs)

The only real things that I could even suggest switching up or working on would be:

Ultra - in your match-up with Boxer, you used it maaad early dude…it seriously looked about the same as cl.s.fierce xx rh shien with respect to dmg…save it to get better pay-off later on…remember you get mix-up after landing ultra (Fei can move well before your opponent is able to get up…no quick-rise and left near right in front of you)

jab rekka - often in your match-up vs Sim, you tried to attack with a normal after forcing him to block your jab rekka BEFORE conditioning him as if you had advantage here…just be aware that you do not and make use of your better, more solid options (there was one point where you shien’d a bad poke from Sim afterward…stuff like that man, good stuff)

low strong - you could make more use of it and the options you have afterward as far as mix-up

RH CW - use some anti-backdash/r.teleport here…mk/rh cw again, reaction jab rekka, uf. j.strong/fierce, etc

Congrats dude and nice new set =)

Looking for some criticism/advice.

Gotta use more flamekick FADC…especially on wakeup or after CW b/c it’s such a risk. Use more meaty st. MP against your downed opponents…mix this up with tenshin, tick throws, overhead, cr. MP > rekka pressure. Also cr. MK as anti air is really useful so use it more often.

@Avenger

Thanks for uploading man. Going to critique your match vs Dic and hope to help you out in some aspects of your game if you don’t mind. Don’t take offense to the straight forwardness.

:13 online kills reaction time…it happens
walk forward with normals, block; walk forward, backdash; or use rh cw

:15 didn’t have to stay there. dash forward or ub j.fierce

:17 didn’t have to stay there

:27 nice crumple…Dic was just walking forward w/o charge
bad ultra punish…your ultra is barely 1/2 full…just s.fierce xx rh shien or go for s.fierce into rekka reset

:37 poor safe jump timing…he could have ultra’d you
…his teleport was not free. reaction rekka or ex cw. your match must be laggy or your reaction time is lacking

:56 you guessed right, but you did Shien too early

:58 confused by the wake-up low strong…it did nothing for you there

1:16 dash up and rekka punish his stomps

1:17 bad jump, you got aa’ed for free

1:31 not trained for your tenshin…force the block and go for cl.s.jab xx ex tenshin or try a different inside game

2:04 his chip was not guaranteed

In this match, Dic is content to walk backwards and charge meter for Kneepress. He is using the quick forward movement and safety on block of LK Press to establish his groundgame and gain chip at the same time. You can’t use focus freely given it is 2-hitting. You can choose to:
-play with the range of his lk scissor and try to get it to whiff or move to a distance to where you can focus the 2nd hit and crumple…this is done just by moving in and out

-use the invincible start-up of rh cw to make him think further about randomly throwing out lk scissors

-use your normals to hit him out of the move

-use rekkas to hit him out of the move…neither one of you have invincibility, so you should be filling that space in front of him to safely anticipate lk scissor

-walk him to the corner

-move away to build meter and punish his attempts to build meter or force him to walk forward and give up his charge temporarily

Na man, I appreciate it. Thanks to you both.

If you’re trying to get a good rep going for yourself, hit up TKK from YouTube. Apparently, he is accepting challenges from whoever wishes. He sets up his recording materials and plays you first-to-3. Footage gets uploaded to YouTube. So, for those who play on XBL or PSN and want to get footage of your gameplay (especially those who don’t play in tourney or etc or have your own equip), or just want a shot at TKK, hit him up. I randomly came across this little shindig while checking out the Claw threads.

iirc, his handle for both systems is TheKingKindred. He is about an average player in ability, but it might be a good challenge for some of you guys.

Tried adding TKK but his list is FULL!!! UGH!

Oh, don’t add him, but send him a msg via YouTube to set the date for challenge. I think you would do very well Tsua.

Also guys:

vs my new main :stuck_out_tongue: nice Fei

You are going to start to main Vega ?

Played 15 set of 5 round matches with a Balrog today. Ended up losing 9-6
Here’s one of them:

PS: all those videos above make me look like a newbie lol

Yah, I like his style (strong mid-game and footsy) as well as placing emphasis on normals and effective use thereof. it just really fits as well, since Fei didn’t HAVE to dp as anti-air. if you ever fight a Claw as Fei, then you have permission to use the alternate costume since there will be slicin’. too smooth (although I think Fei beats Claw)

j/k Seth =) I’m all over da place

@bgf

Cool man, new vid to watch

Notes on your match:

How come that Fei didn’t reversal flame kick to interrupt Vega’s rolling crystal flash? You can actually hit him out of it…right before he stabs you with his claw, he is vulnerable. Would’ve liked to see more tenshin setups as well…did to many blockstrings that lead to no damage and could’ve done a better job punishing backflips. Plus no cross over attempts? Somewhat too passive but otherwise, very solid Fei.

I tried the mash fk during block strings and only able to pull it off like twice out of fifty nine times. I dunno, but could the strength of the rolling attack has something to do with it somehow?

I should’ve said critics are welcomed
Seriously, it’s not my best match, but at least I’m not ashamed of it either. In other words, I’d say that’s typical of my style. So I’d appreciate any suggestions.

(boxer’s nine hit combo into ultra really hurts damn it.)

Arturo Sanchez (Seth) vs Justin Wong (Fei Long) @Battlefield Arcadia #7’s Finals:

The second Battlefield Arcadia-tourney in a row won by Wong as Fei.
I’m glad he only played a few matches as Rose (and Rufus).

This vid is actually quite helpful as Seth is Fei’s 2nd hardest matchup in my opinion (after Zangief).

Great match. Fun to see how he uses cl.hk/hp to counter j.hp spams. Timing is really tricky though.
I’ve noticed there were a few occasions where JW can finish off the match with a fk chip damage but he didn’t do it, especially the one after getting in with cw. I wonder what’s the reason.
Apart from that, I’d say he pulled off combos a bit more consistent than last time.

Seth is a bastard to fight with FeiLong, top five hardest I’d say. Not sure about being the second though. I had more problems against good sagats tbh, or I haven’t played real good Seth yet.

Oh, and it seems the commentators have more respects for FeiLong now. lol

Rekkas on the ground…

s.RH/Shien as anti-air…

EX CW to get through Booms…

Command throw into free combo…

low short (chained or linked) xx 3~4 into combo…

cross-up…

Seth doesn’t duck s.jab while in crouch…

Fei isn’t as naked in that match-up as it seems to some of you guys. Seth easily loses ground here. Booms have to be used a bit further away; hence, Jwong just being able to jump over them. Wall-jumps really aren’t that safe even after landing (e.g., dash up into fierce rekka).

It takes some serious mix-ups and good guesses when Seth loses the ability to punish mistakes (when people start blocking and playing smarter).

Yes, really good Sagats (there are almost none at the PC version’s G2-level) are probably still tougher for Fei. It’s just that I haven’t met many Seths online. And the good ones almost always completely shut me down…

Good to know, thanks.

That’s one of the issue I’d say. We haven’t got as much experience in the Seth match up as most of the others.

PC version is pretty quiet… that is for sure.

I like how Justin is using Fei’s s.hk for a lot of AA’s. That is something I recently started doing with out realizing it. Such a great tool with a lot of uses. Good match.
