Fei Long Combos and Glitches

cr.LK, st.LP > cr.LP xx Rekka : 3 frame link
cr.LK, cr.LK > cr.LP xx Rekka : 1 frame link

The former should be used wherever possible simply because it doesn’t have stupid timing requirements.

Linking off LK should be reserved for situations where st.LP will whiff. Against characters who can crouch under the LP it’s a viable alternative to avoid the LK button altogether and try to hitconfirm off scl.MP > cr.LP xx Rekka instead, which is one of the easiest links in the game.

Also, there’s no reason to ever use scl.LK over cr.LK for links.

scl.LK doesn’t chain, so cr.LP won’t come out if you hit it too early. This leads to scl.LK -> Rekka. Not only does this leave a noticable gap for the opponent to reverse through, but the crappy range of scl.LK means you’d be throwing that Rekka from a range such that most characters can punish even the LP version on block.

With cr.LK; cr.LP comes out every time. If you press it too early then it will still combo but won’t cancel into Rekka. This is easy enough to react to, and you can simply not input what would have been the second Rekka, leaving you completely safe and at a slight frame advantage.

Reversals hurt. Never give people the opportunity to land one.

Man if I could just get that BnB down I would be so much more dangerous, cause I can cross up like crazy :frowning: right now its like I am playing a gimped Ryu or Ken when my rekkas are against me.

Crossing up and Bnb combos aren’t Fei’s only strengths. His pokes are high priority as well.

yea, but you can’t call yourself a FeiLong master if you can’t even pull out his bnb.

Tip: On the BnB

cr.lk, st.lp, cr.lp xx Rekka

You should be doing it exactly like this, Rock…

Holding the stick down, hit the crouching light kick and of let go of the stick hit the punch button and pull the stick down to forward with a double tap cr.lp.

Start it slowly first. Remember to let the stick go to neutral and immediately flick it back down to forward. Get your button inputs to register exactly between those stick movements.

There is no timing actually and start it slowly but build up speed as you’re moving up. it’ll become easier as you do it more and more.

I never use that Bnb stuff

No..... but the more tools you have in the shed, the better you can get the job done right :chat: If your frontal assault is not working you have to mix it up I would rather get 300 damage than 160.

I have been practicing with pokes more, I rather enjoy rekka pokes :) f|mk is fun to. This forum and you guys has helped me out alot thanks for the tips.

The BnB stuff comes in handy at times when other things won’t work.

Example:

Against Abel’s :r::mk: > Dash > setup options.

Fei can throw in the bnb right in the middle of the dash and bnb combo right through. I mean, you can also just Chicken Wing or Flame kick also. But just think of the Brownie Points you’re going to get from your opponent when he gets caught with the BnB.

Yeah, if you think about it there really is no reason not to learn Fei’s BnB combo. 230+ damage from connecting a simple fast 3 frame cr. LK isn’t very bad at all. Punishing with cr. LP > rekkaken in tight situations is very important too…some characters have moves where it seems they barely have any recovery but in truth, they can be punished such as Gouken’s regular and EX palm(although if they do it from max range, it’s rather safe). Learning how to capitalize on your opponent’s mistakes is very important when using Fei.

Another thing to note about the bnb is that it’s a lengthy combo. Normally, opponents will try countering (or more simply mashing lp/lk) after the second blocked kick. When it’s never going to work and you simply bulldoze your way through. Once they experience that, you’ve now conditioned them to not mash anymore. This is where your frontal Tenshin setups can start as well.

Note against Gouken…

You can actually Tenshin Gouken’s regular and EX Palm (if they do it from max distance) too. lol.

why would you do tenshin if you can do a flame kick  or ex flame kick

Not very effective but might be worth knowing corner combo

If you have your opponent in the corner and can anticipate a neutral jump:

lk flamekick (hitting them at the peak of thier jump), ex flame kick = 3 hit combo 170 dmg

Against characters who jump higher for example chun li you are able to do mk flamekick, ex flame kick for 190 dmg

I’m currently testing super/ultra followups since I just got a varied result against some characters, I will post up my finding later

After finding an anomaly which I thought might work on a handfull of the cast the testing resulted very badly but here are there results anyway.

Scenario: If you have your opponent in the corner and can anticipate a neutral jump;

[For the whole cast except for Gen]

lk flamekick (hitting them at the peak of thier jump), lp super = 3 hit combo 190 dmg
lk flamekick (hitting them at the peak of thier jump), ultra = 3 hit combo 166 dmg

[nothing really special ]

Now the anomaly I found was against Balrog you are able to get the last hit of the super to land so:

lk flamekick (hitting them at the peak of thier jump), lp super = 4 hit combo 350 dmg

wierd combo- 470 stun, 270 dmg-jump in RH, stand jab, close standing medium punch, far standing fierce.

theres 2 one frame links, but you can make it easier by taking out the jab. prolly wont use it, but its there

i am going to make an effort to try not to use the cr.lk into whatever hit confirms as much. i think we should be trying to go with the close mp from jumpins more. more dmg, easier confirm, ton of frame advantage. only downside is not hitting low, and cr.lp rekka not connecting if you connect on a standing crossup into close mp.

anyway, i understand why that jap fei was using close mp into low sweep on crossups. nearly the same damage as a rekka combo, and sets you up for another jump in or more wakeup pressure

:coffee:

does standing close mp to far hp connects? like in chain?

1 frame link

Well I haven’t been here in a while, and I thought I had came up with this first, but it looks like MaaZa beat me to it. Oh well, regardless, Stupid Fei Long Tricks!

lol, I did that move the other day when I was messing around in the training room, totally by accident.

Juggling after a high anti-air is nothing new…at all. Sucks that the whole super bar is used for such measly damage too. This looks better in the corner actually when someone tries to neutral jump on wake-up to avoid oki. I like the feel of the vid though  And the music has a nice ring. What is Fei wearing? lol
