I recently started using Novaās supers for defense also. Well Iām just a defensive player, but still lol. Raw Super Nova has been my answer to nuts on incoming.
I donāt blame them. Hereās a fun game; watch a match and see how many times people take the āIām going to teleport/zip line/box jump/berserker slash/whatever + call an assist to get in, and continue to do so until it worksā approach for Marvel. Spoiler alert; itāll happen within the first 5 seconds typically. Puff out your chest, give no $@!#$s, and make 'em look stupid.
In all seriousness, this is SERIOUSLY a viable tactic. I do it all the time with Grav. Blaster. I let people get comfortableā¦think theyāre godlike with their rush down. Get a 2nd meter somehow, and team super or Grav. Blaster and DHC to Taskmaster. I probably kill assists more than I kill point characters cuz Iām ass lolol
I sometimes do that with Cold Star at the end of combos if Iāve already used my ground bounce and am lazy about the cent rush LMH confirm, but that looks a lot more useful.
I mean, at the end of the day itās a Nova ground throw, itās not gonna turn into serious damage without a TAC or powerful DHC. I guess for a Frank team itās better to get as many hits as possible though.
ā¦but then, you wanna save Frankās assist slot so you can get two pictures with Nova assist right? So itās maybe best to use Cold Star to save the ground bounce.
Not necessarily. Look at my video, I got 100 hits on that so itās level 5 without a second snapshot. Any combo/confirm into combo that has hits from both shopping cart AND cold star will probably reach 100 hits by the time you DHC into Frank
Yeah, but unless you have a Surplus meter to cancel snap to super at the end, youāre putting yourself in a disadvantageous situation after the picture, as well as giving up Frankās best reset opportunities. I remember messing with this a while ago and i think you get more damage with the two Tools Ms at the end as well? I do use it now and again but only if i wont make the 2 meters with the standard stuff.
Hey all. I havenāt posted in a while but Iāve been trying to level up a bit lately. Here is a first to five I played with a good friend. I made some mistakes here and there (especially in the first match, I think I got a touch of nerves when he said he was recording). Anyone have any thoughts on my gameplay or improvements I could make?
You up-back a lot and use jumps to move around
Practice wave/plink dashing, youāll love it, trust me
Youāre not using a lot of Novaās tools other than his j.H
You can use his Cent Rushes or sometimes his grav pulses
I agree that you could work on your movement, especially on the ground; Bolts is worthless if you canāt threaten your opponent on the ground. Wave/plink dash more and choose your spots properly so you can anti-air with s.L. Use the instant overhead. A lot.
You can afford to be a little more reckless with Speed Tackle in the Magneto matchup; your friend used Disruptor every time he got to the far corner, so it wouldnāt have been all that risky to jump (over the beam) and Speed Tackle.
After you did get a hit with Speed Tackle and X-factored, you went into jump S, which whiffed. There are a few different confirms off that, but in general you either want to launch into an air series, or jump into j.MMH flight MMHS. Definitely practice that confirm cause dropping it is a big waste.
Likewise, learn to react to random hits better (known as āabareā sometimes). Know when to use s.M or s.H (just a difference in height).
Make c.M safe by canceling into flight. In general you need to play a little more safe with moves like this; also teleporting with Dormammu can be punished if itās not covered so be a bit more careful with those.
Didnāt get to see a lot of your incoming since these matches were a little rough, but in general you want to texture your mixups more. Practice this in training mode.
This is a bad habit youāll get online (I still do it sometimes), but if you block something really unsafe (like Hawkeyeās launcher at 3:36), donāt advancing guard, punish it. That move is -10 on block, but you donāt have to know frame data to see that it was punishable. If it looks like you canāt get a jab punish or whatever, just throw them. Maybe that was a mistake, but I see people doing this a lot, so.
Definitely be more careful calling Bolts; itās not like Plasma Beam in that you canāt ever call it with your back to the wall or too close to your opponent. Not an assist you can throw out unthinkingly. That said, try to make space to put up a shield and throw javelins to cover Bolts for your approach on the ground (though I realize this isnāt as useful in the matchups you were fighting).
Your Strange zoning needs work. Know when itās safe to put out an Eye, and when itās better to just do an uncharged FOF (which is fast and high durability). His full-screen game is probably the easiest aspect of his to learn, so just practice some zoning patterns in training mode.
All that said, I donāt think youāre playing badly at all, just some bad habits you want to kick and fine-tuning to be done.
