Yeah first off, no matter how good or bad a Morridoom player is, the matchup is almost always annoying at first and takes a lot of dissecting of your own game. We’ve all read a ton of theory and matchup knowledge here but it doesn’t mean much until you actually fight against it. So don’t feel bad.
Don’t air dash forward during the flood, there’s no angle where you’re not going to get hit. Regular dash and either jump to get over fireballs or crouch to stop your momentum (and don’t forget to block if you do either). The Morrigan player was doing the two most basic patterns, ground Soul Fist M fly cancel air Soul Fist H, and air Soul Fist L/M fly cancel Soul Fist L/M. Practice evading those in training mode just to get the rhythm down. And don’t be afraid to super jump, fly, and flex for a bit. At least you can avoid some chip and run out her meter.
Sadly you don’t have an assist that can start a zoning presence for you like Plasma Beam, which would be nice because a protected Energy Javelin will hit Doom out of missiles before he gets to call more than one or two. You don’t really have any option but to run away or go in with Nova. So if you’re going to go in, make sure you’re gonna do it from the start of the round, walk forward and call Frank, show the opponent you don’t give a fuck.
As for when you get down to Frank/Ammy, you had a lot of opportunities to use team super that wouldn’t have gotten punished. You would have tagged Doom and gained levels even if Morrigan had blocked. If you were able to call it during her first fireball, she’d get hit since she can’t unfly cancel, which would force her to XF or die. Otherwise it looks like Frank really flails around in this matchup without levels. As Zansam said don’t be afraid to tag in Ammy.
Anchor Ammy vs. Morridoom team sucks, but it’s workable. You never got a chance to spend bar with Nova and Frank, so you had like 4/5 Veils of Mist at your disposal each round. Don’t wait to down a character before you use them, just use them. They make Morrigan (and Doom missiles) a lot more punishable. Only use the reflector to show that you have the option, if you hold it you’ll get caught reflecting missiles while she comes down with Shell Kick and you won’t be able to switch. So it’s difficult to try and catch Shell Kick after baiting Soul Fists. Ammy can definitely handle Morrigan, but she has to be proactive with slow, use the glaive and paper a lot to make her more careful about her movement. Be unpredictable.
Anyway, I hope you got a casuals set or two against that guy, if not, play him next time you go out. Good luck. And I love the random English thrown into the Portuguese commentary haha.
edit: Wait what the fuck, you guys play 60 seconds instead of 99? No wonder you ended up in super desperate situations with Ammy every match… Tell them to cut that shit out!
