FEEL HEAVEN'S WRATH: Thor Thread Reloaded

no it means that it stays active longer, it doesnt affect the range but it makes the timing easier. That being said the range is getting buffed too AFAIK.

Im assuming that MP can be followed up now otherwise it would be a pointless buff, question is can thor follow it up with mighty smash H or will you need a quick OTG assist to do it.

Yeah that’s what I took the MH buff as, still that should really help with resets and as we all know 1 reset = easy kill. As for Mighty Punish if Thor can recover fast enough he could probably combo off it himself, at the end of MP it causes a bit of “bounce” kinda similar to MH.

Has anyone tried DHCing from Mighty Punish to Dark Dimension before? I was in training mode, and the thought occurred to me. But it didn’t go through. After Mighty Punish landed, I waited for a bit to make sure the character would hit the ground and then did Dark Dimension, but the game kept giving me Chaotic Flame. It might be because I’m rushed and gotta head out now, but could someone try this and tell me what kinda results you get?

If you allow for the first bounce after the punish the character will land and stay on the ground, you then have a pretty large window to come in with Dark Dimension. It does 710,000 w/o x-factor and you can get 1,016,000 with x-factor level 1 before the might punish. Seems pretty legit to me if you really want to get rid of someone.

XFC>Mighty Punish>Iron Avenger>HYPER COMBO K.O

A’ight, cool. Thanks. I just like the fact that it’s two cutscene supers combo’d together. Ha ha.

Yea his throws should be much better in Ultimate also I think as far as resets are concerned the whole, Mighty Spark Untechable state on the opponent has been increased is basically going to give Thor Free air resets. I think MP is a hard KnockDown so depending on how quickly Thor can move around now you should be able to self OTG with Hard Mighty Smash, I am all kinds of excited. Lastly if the guy at the local gamestop is right I should have the guide in 5 days I will post up every bit of frame data on Specials and Normals from Ultimate and a Comparison from Vanilla seeing as I have the old guide as well.

You wanna make and update his new UMvC thread, too? If not, I could post up a new thread an’ keep it updated with the new tech that comes about. Either way, I’d really like to see that frame data comparison.

Thats fine by me was going to ask who was making his new thread. I can shoot you all of the info if you want to do it if not I can. Want a name that everyone here is pretty cool with seeing as Thor has a pretty tight knit community.

It’s all good either way. I just want it to be updated and not left behind. You’ve done pretty well with frequenting the Thor forums an’ reppin’ him outside of it too, so unless you see anything major down the lines keepin’ you from the upkeep, then I’d say you should take the reigns. With me bein’ in college, I’m not certain on how often I’ll be able to devout to compiling things over time. I’m still keepin’ things in order though, so it might work out if it comes to it.

“These buffs, I like them - ANOTHER”
“Whoever Mains Me, If He Be Worthy, Shall Possess The Power of Thor”
“For Odin, For Asgard”
“UMVC3 Hammer Time”
“Halt yee villains tis the time of Mjolnir, thou cannot toucheth this”

That’s all I got for a thread names, feel free to use them if you deem them worthy or alter the names if you want.

Looove this! Also came up with:

“Every Day of the Week Should Be Thor’s Day”

I’ll try to come up with more.

I’d be cool with somethin’ simple like Journey Into Mystery, or some clever variation/play on words of the like.

Another variation;
“Whoever Mains Me, If He Be Unfree, Shall Possess The Power of Thor”.

Sounds too silly for my taste.

I was thinking more along the lines of … The Odin’s Son:Thor Thread or if I were being silly something like The Asgard Express… Divine Might… I dunno Something godly though.

I’ve been lurking the forums here for a while. I’ve been playing Thor pretty avidly since vanilla release, however my experience stops there. After playing a few matches online, I couldn’t stand to get bodied repeatedly with my favorite character. Instead of learning the ins and outs, I opted to keep myself in training mode and every time I saw a new Thor combo pop up, I’d practice relentlessly.

That said, with the release of Ultimate I’m now determined to make my Thor the powerhouse he should have been.

My team right now is still in the air. I’m running Wesker on point (otg assist) with Thor second (MS).

I’ve tried 3 different characters on anchor - Doom, Cap and Magneto.

Each of them have great assists for Wesker/Thor - Doom and Magneto are just giving me execution issues.

Has anyone made a comprehensive video guide like Viscant did with Cross Counter? I learned most everything I needed to know about Wesker from that Viscant tutorial - anything similar for Cap/Doom/Magneto?

There is a captain America tutorial out there I forgot the users name. As for doom Maximilian did one for doom a while ago on his YouTube channel.

I main Cap, and I love his umvc3 version. But I still don’t feel he’s a worthy anchor. Magneto sorta, but his beam is too fast to capitalize on I find for extending combos. I would say Iron Man Doom, not so much Magneto. My personal view.

And I just wanted to say when I tried out Thor on day one. My exact words: “WOW”. I cannot believe how much he improved, all his normals seem to have reduced startup as well.

I will primarily be playing online. That said, so far as the execution level of Doom and Magneto’s combos - who has tighter timing? The more reliably I can play, the better, as there are already enough variables inherent in UMvC3. Guile was my long time main in vanilla SF4 - everything combo’d was 1 frame, thus my execution was random. I’d rather not be there again.

I was on my lunch break when I picked it up. A friend of mine plays Zero/Akuma/Sentinel and I completely bodied him by landing one MH after the other. I couldn’t believe the range I was grabbing him from. I’ve been playing on average 100-200 matches online a day since then, with 30-45 minutes spent in training beforehand. UMVC3 managed to breathe a little life into Thor - now if only he could throw mjolnir a little more in the next iteration.
