How about they make it so Mighty Hurricane doesn’t count toward your ground bounce limit against “that stupid dog” tm? Last I checked, they still haven’t fixed that bug.
As for buffs, maybe they could give him a chainable cr.L, but leave it as slow as it is now. Speeding up his ground normals in general and improving their hit boxes and recovery frames would be nice. Some sort of hammer throw move to setup mixups (think fully charged voomerang) could be cool. A different moveset sans hammer would be cool. Maybe also a move where he plants Mjolnir into the ground as a lightning rod to setup traps?
They definitely need to speed up Mighty Thunder, reduce its recovery and add extra hits since there’s practically no reason to use it. Right now Magnetic Shockwave is faster, is better in combos, has better recovery and has invincibility frames (wtf :looney:).
Not sure if you guys realize, but normalizing X-factor will hurt Thor a lot. He gets an enormous damage boost compared to most right now. Maybe the extra speed boost will help, shrug
Ok After more thought this is what Thor NEEDS to be a more viable character.
L mighty Smash should leave you at at least +1 on block making it safe to end combos with. should still cause a hard knockdown on hit.
All Versions of mighty smash should have some sort of projectile invincibility.
Ground mighty strike L should have the same recovery as air mighty strike leaving it safe on block.
All of his normals Should have frame rate and Hit Box adjustments. and Crouching M and Standing and Crouching H should have Super Armor after the frame where Mjlonir is actually out. (Its Mjlonir)
Mighty Hurricane should have increased range. (Already Confirmed)
When Blocked S/Launcher should knock opponent back further.
MIghty Punish should cause a ground bounce or unrecoverable spin.
Mighty Thunder should push opponent Back on block and should have MUCH faster startup and recovery.
Fireball motion with S should Toss mjlonir ahead of thor at a diagonal angle on hit should cause a wall bounce. In air should toss mjlonir at a down Diagonal angle and cause a ground bounce.
Back Fireball motion with S should toss mjlonir straight ahead of thor and cause a wall bounce. All versions of hammer toss should have Complete Projectile invulnerability outside of beam supers.
Thor should have a Level 3 Foward to down motion. + L/M/H Odin Force Thor reaches back and Lightning strikes Mjlonir and he tosses it straight ahead has complete invulnerability and should Plow through beam supers. Done in air would toss mjlonir at a downward diagonal angle.
You could pick any 3 off of that list and Thor wouldnt be broken hed be very competitive. Pick them all and hed be pretty sick. Wont happen but its nice to dream.
L smash safe on block
Yes definitely, considering how useless it is it should atleast be safe.
Projectile invincibility on mighty smash
dont see any use for this, mighty smash is something that you should only use during a block string or in a combo, any other time you’re better off with strike which already has projectile invincibility.
L strike safe on block
Agree for the same reasons as L smash, but i think they should still keep it -ve on block but unpunishable (like wesker’s launcher).
Buff normals
yes please ffs…
Armored normals
no ty, we dont want thor to become as “popular” as hulk with the armored normals spam, and i honestly think it would be unfair to give thor armor.
Pretty much agree with the rest, new moves would be nice but i think that the right buffs to his current moves would be more than enough. Any new specials/hypers would just be a bonus.
Funny thing is that the only confirmed buff so far, is on the ONLY move thor has that i dont think needed a buff (mighty hurricane), every other special/hyper thor has couldve used some sort of buff instead.
I though about that when they announced normalizing xfactor i was bitching about it, because its like thor gets nothing great in xfactor so taking his damage away for him specifically is sad. Also yeah stupid dog…
The one thing I want more than anything else is just much faster recovery on his normals, its absouletly gross how long most things stay out.
Yeah the only other vids of me are back in april but here they are if you want them. My thor kinda sucked back then though.http://www.twitch.tv/kocast/b/284874493 AT 10:00 and 38:50
Hopefully my friend will upload some of the ones from pools.
As far as thor buffs. He is fine air to ground problem is air to air combat. The worst thing is for me is when you try to MH them and they just option select grab you. Because they have more grab range then H Command grab and L and M are too slow unless you have INSANE frame perfect timing( not taking into account resets you can set those up to prevent that to an extent unless its zero/task I mean general air to air). Zero, mag, ammy and dante are stupid hard to catch with the grab, and good luck ever hitting ground MH on taskmaster. That and give him a reason to ever use stand M and H outside of very specific combos for slightly more damage. Ground L strike is useful for baiting a mighty punish(although honestly I only do this move accidentally then pretend I meant to bait mighty punish). I think faster charge up time on mighty strikes would help a lot. L smash being +0 seems ok i suppose because I’m not a fan of uselessmoves . Pretty much thor needs better air to air options. Some fights feel very long and drawn out because I can only get small hits off of air strike and chip damage off of doom/spark beam. Faster start up time on thornado would help against predictable but normally safe approaches. Better air command grabs (he needs a MH with 1 frame that also has more range then other characters arigrabs). And faster charge up time on strike so you can get a combo off of a charged air hit and force them back to the ground.
I’m fine with faster mighty strikes. It and spark are his only real good tools.
L Smash having something is better than nothing. And it’s not a game breaker, so I think it’s ok.
Tornado does enough for combos I really don’t mind it as is. Now Mighty Thunder could be better used on ground situations. Thor already has a horrible ground game, and upping his 2 blah hypers would help greatly. As already mention’d, Mag’s has Shockwave and it does everything right…so why not Mthunder? MThunder (if actually beefed up) could be used for bad ground punishes. I already gave my 2 cents on it at the top.
Back from EVO! Yes, I am the Thor/MODOK/V.Joe player that lost to Noah the Kid. I made it out of pools in losers, but then lost to a Captain America/Wesker/Task player. I hope I put on a good show for all the stream watchers!
I just want to throw in a few tidbits about UMvC3 Thor since I used him in every UMvC3 match I played.
The only confirmed change was that his aerial Mighty Hurricane grab specials have greater range now. This is great news, especially since Thor already has to fight from the air due to his high recovery ground normals. Pair this with aerial X-Factor and aerial blockstun and you can land Mighty Hurricanes with much more ease now.
The only other noticeable UMvC3 Thor change was that his attacks, in general, were sped up a bit. I was able to land air M, M, H, S, land, fully charged C-Mighty Strike to Mighty Tornado with relative ease. This also allow for combos to connect a lot more easier on character instead of drop halfway through like they sometimes do on smaller characters in regular MvC3.
I tried to find this so-called new Thor attack, but was unsuccessful. UMvC3 isn’t too far off, so we won’t be waiting too long.
Just wanna say congrats to you both for reppin’ the mightiest. You both put on a good show. Good to hear that Thor got a little bit faster in Ultimate. I actually didn’t hear anything about Thor getting a new attack. It’d be cool if he got one. The more I think about it, the more I’m liking that hammer toss.
greater range on aerial Mighty Hurricane…cool. already seeing how that’ll improve his game.
i would like to know what this new move is also.
faster normals too? wow, capcom thinking like the players. nice
well those 2 changes are great but i have to admit i would be a little pissed if that was all, especially considering that doom and trish got a lot of buffs and they’re already considered high tier.
Faster normals don’t exactly mean there fast, especially in Thor’s case. But hey, he needs anything he can get. I’ll take it.
In fact, did he LOSE anything? I’m just thinking since alot of characters who can tridash have been nerfed so far…just thinking if Capcom would do that to Thor.
Does anyone else find thor is great to use against other heavy characters? I find I have a pretty easy time with thor against other heavy characters in this game, to the point where I shut them down with him.
Also it never clicked about the xfc->MH in the air with the new change to xfc’s. This’ll help him a lot, the buff to aerial MH will help him a lot, since I use it as an AA on telegraphed jump ins. I hope the speeding up of his normals will give him easier combo variety, I’m STILL doing the same combo from day one -__-
It would almost feel a little broken I reckon, though with XF damage is getting toned down too that might help a little.
Think of all the times you didn’t try to XFC block stun and go for MH because you felt a little too far away. With the improved range, thats a thing of the past. Grab and kill. You basically don’t have to even fight one of their characters. Now we can do that shit in the air. Its nuts. Basically if you are in Thor’s face, pulling off a block string, he can kill you in an instant.
He’s just choosing not to.
Also, Thor is great against the heavies… EXCEPT DAT PIPE.
Yea ok I thought I was the only one who had a problem in that matchup. Any suggestions there, I have tested that you can land a /:H: aerial Mighty hurricane, preferrably heavy though since hagger is HUGE and with a jump cancelled pipe he’ll be up in your face, so you won’t be able to go for a MH with a slower startup but bigger hitbox. Haven’t found anything on how to deal with his drop kick though
would be great if the faster normals make it easier to relaunch into a 2nd air combo.
About thor vs haggar, i usually just try to zone him out and throw in an occasional air mighty strike M. The hitbox and priority on haggar’s moves are ridiculous so you dont rly want mess with him up close.
I have a feeling thor will be much more dangerous this time around. And @ chef man thats going to be insane that was the first thing I though of when they said they increased the range on his Mighty Hurricane. I hear they increased the range on air and ground versions. If the H version has same 1 frame start up and the range of the old L button we are definitely in the punishing whiffs business.
