anybody had a chance, or planning to try Umvc3 thor? Any noticeable changes, or ~noticeable or possible?

well thats great and all but what i want most is a buff for his normals. They dont have to make his normals amazing or give him armor but they just suck way too much atm, his crouching normals are slow as hell and situational and his standing normals are completely unusable imo.

Wow, damn really? Ha, jesus it already seemed pretty buff to be honest. Given the way hitboxes and stuff move in the air, you’d sometime grab people when you really felt you had no right to.

But this could be big. It might allow easier midscreen resets off H mighty smash and more importantly, it could make the corner resets ridiculous.

You know now that I think about it … I would love to be able to toss Mjolnir it should have insane Projectile durability.

you can actually get a really easy reset of h might smash if you just dash before you do the h mighty smash
just cancel it midway through thors dash, should be gravy. you can even make it cross up so you end up behind them when they tech.

So Thors only noted buff at the capcom panel was “slightly Increased range on his command grab.” if the H version has the range that L or even M used to then it could be worthwhile otherwise Capcom is just Trolling us hard.

mighty smash should have armor or make mighty spark spammable like disruptor. also give him a new projectile to throw mjolnir around. a level 3 wouldn’t hurt as well >_>

mighty spark IS spammable like disruptor, it just doesn’t hit most crouching characters. he does not need a new projectile, as his projectiles are already solid. thor does not need armor.

hey you never know, it might be able to do some other stuff that mighty spark cant, maybe it will be able to cover more angles to help with thor’s zoning or it could have certain properties that would help thor start/extend his combos. If not then ya there’s rly no need for it.

Yeah, if chugging Mjlönir were in the game, I’d like for it to be tossed at different angles, like Cap’s shield or somethin’ crazy like that. Give it the same durability as Arthur’s lance throw, decent speed, and it would enhance Thor’s game all around. Maybe help start combos from a distance or, at the very least, give him another option for getting in.

Considering Thor’s overall mobility and poor normals (but they are great during the active frames. But good luck with that) …he’s not designed to be played like everyone else. We all want to blitzkrieg in this game and tri-dash and be speed demons to win…but with what he’s got, he’s pretty much a zoner at heart. I have no problems keeping the hell away from the opponent with his tools and options, but anything close is not 50/50 for him…more like 40% or 30% success rate (or less) in close range.

Tri-dash work wonders on scrubs I’ll give it that. It’s also a great option selection, but it’s not supposed to be abused or most characters will catch on after awhile. You can probably get 1 real good typical tri-dash mixup for some damage against decent or great players in a match, but that’s it. 1 time. I know that’s what I usually get. You can probably get away with 1 reset during a match too. Again 1. You can get a great TK Mighty Strike off a assist or crossup in a match. But again…usually 1 time. After that all those, the opponent is looking for it. And it becomes sooo much harder to confirm alot of things for Thor.

After those options, Thor naturally falls back pretty well to Mighty Sparks, some mighty strikes for (chipping, spacing, space resets) and just trying to space himself to look for any other options he can get his hands on, but this point, I feel the match is no longer in his favor. But really, when I think about it, I feel his “missing link” is decent zoning. Much like Chris, Arthur, HsienKo for example…there zoning characters that get blown up. And we all know Vanilla is piss poor about defense heavy characters and style of play. With UMvC3, the game is giving some of these guys alot more space to work with here. Thor having space now is in his favor. It won’t take 1 slip up and every character can get in on Thor now. It will take 2 steps now. That’s enough for Thor players control the opponent and the flow of the match. Make the opponent work to get to Thor now. And with so many fast characters getting speed nerfs and cross up nerfs…Thor is already technically faster (in UMvC3 terms).

Giving Thor a move to throw Mjolnir sounds pretty badass to be honest, and a air lvl3 would be godly (Might of Asgard sounds boss)…but his move sets pretty full, and I can do with what he’s already got. So since all of a sudden I just lost all train of thought, I don’t know to end this lol. Rant over.

Anyone remember the Thor players name on the evo stream that used Doom beam assist? He was beasting, I’m trying to find some vids of his.

Oh, duh that’s right. I just thought there was only one Thor player at Evo and Flush was him. Now that I see the video, I remember him from the stream.

There was another Thor player also I forgot who he used first but he did have Thor and Doom.

Also sucked seeing Flush lose to Noah via time out at the end.

I would like to see mighty smash have overhead properties. It would also b nice give him an otg move upclose where he smashed the hammer down on an opponent… Give it properties like weskers gun where he can’t follow it up unless he had an assist. These two moves would make his l. Mighty smash useful. If he could throw his hammer it should cause dizzy on hit, like shehulks rush move. As far as his supers go, I agree with most on here faster thunder and a more invincible mighty punish that will grab anybody out of anything… It can keep its range and cause a crumple or dizzy. That super alone would put fear in peoples hearts.

invincibility on MP isnt going to happen, you cant have a level 1 command grab invincible AND inescapable on reaction, thats a bit too much imo. Best we can hope for is MP leaving them in a juggle state instead of a hardknockdown, with the DHC glitch gone we rly need this imo.
