Ha, well its not really the matchup, its just that pipe. Just get away and mighty spark his face all day. That’s how I deal with it and I feel it works. He can’t do anything about it. If you start getting cornered, just utilise Thor’s superior air mobility. I wouldn’t go for MHs too often against that pipe. Just feels too dangerous. And Thor’s tri-jump pressure gets blown up hard by lariat. So like I said, just Mighty spark all day.

A full second aerial combo? Thor’s damage could become really something. My BnB’s get like 700k now with one meter or something… so factor in another aerial series and we could be pushing 850k maybe… and often I DHC after that!

H speed with L range IMO would be borderline retarded. Cos then what would the new L versions range be?

I would like to see his taunt cancel mechanic actually be useful to him on the ground. It is already in place for some reason, why not just remove the recovery frames and give thor a strong close option for dealing with opponents, like what if he could c.h x mighty thunder x mighty speech. Now he has a beam on screen, of his own doing and is able to move at will after words. You will have a full web of options with that kind of cover as well. OR he could used it to make his current pressure safe, like doing c.l, c.h, l m or h mighty smash x mighty speech to keep himself safe and possibly + a few frames to try to mount an offense. He can even cancel out of his lag from a whiffed throw on the ground! Just seems like a waste that he can use this tactic already but, its actually barely usable at all.

I agree but Zangief range in SSF4AE is borderline insanity. As is T Hawks for that matter.

Borderline is an understatement, more like completely stupid. But that’s what this game is about lol. I think that would be too much for thor, just slightly increase the hitbox’s of MH, medium maybe having the range on light, and heavy having a bit under the range of medium.

Considering his dash compared to Thor’s, Wesker already has a better 1 frame command grab than what you’re theorizing about for Thor. Now **that’s **retarded.

I don’t think it would break Thor, but it would certainly put him on a Wesker level of stupid and I’m not too keen on that. Can’t believe more Wesker players don’t use his command grab because it really is that dumb.

Thor kinda always felt Pre-Nerfed (balanced? Heh) to me as if he was too good pre-release and they “fixed” him before other characters.

Wished they’d make mighty speech similiar to SFIII Q’s taunt, or something like it, where using MS gives Thor armor, speed, strength booast (not really)…one of those. MS is just there. I’d wish it could do more.

Niitsuma has said not everyone is getting new moves. And much like Hulk, Thor might get a command normal or something instead of a special move.

I believe Thor could greatly benifit from being able to cancel normals into his dash and airdash, and the ability to cancer his specials into mighty speech and cancel his mighty speech into his dash. This would give him an immediate mobility and speed boost without really tampering with his base speed. It would allow his pressure game to greatly increase by allowing him to constantly stay on his opponent once he gets in. It will also help him better deal with zoning by using mighty sparkxxmighty speechxx dash foward… Basically allowing him to constantly advance. It would also allow him to better deal with mighty huricain wiffs. It won’t make him in unpunishable, but if u r skilled enough, his otherwise slow recovering punishabe normals and specials less punishable, give him better blockstrings, make him a better metter builder, better access to mixups and resets, plus make his mighty speech valuable

It only happened once at EVO when I was playtesting Thor on UMVC3, but I think Thor either has no vulnerable startup frames on Mighty Punish now or they removed them entirely. A taskmaster dropped a combo and I rolled out as he was doing Shield Skill, and I managed to Mighty Punish him. Typically, Shield Skill has a ton of active frames, and I’ve always been hit out of MP before the hyper flash.

Could be wrong and maybe I hit him just as the active frames of Tasky’s 4H were over, but if not it’d be an amazing buff.

I hope so, it would be needed, I also hope they give Thor a way to combo after it.

Sorry guys, my 360 has red ringed so I am the definition of a theory fighter right now. I just thought of something. I always jump towards Hagger and pushblock him away after I meet his pipe in the air…

But can you just wait for block stun to be over and command grab him?

After reading Fear Itself 5, I want a powered up hammer swing that knocks the opponent to the other side of the screen for a wall bounce, something akin to Kl’rt’s Stone Smite, but much more epic.

Anyway, I’m in training mode right now working on some block strings, and I sorta came up with something. Crouching :l: Crouching :m: plus assist into :m: Mighty Strike :h: Mighty Hurricane. I’m sure you guys have come up with a lot of better stuff. What are some of your moves against good blocking opponents i.e. people who don’t fall for the general tri-jump mixups?

Mighty Hurricane after you’ve dropped down? Interesting… probably only would work once though.

For me, people who are correctly blocking my trijump pressure are going to get blown up by empty jumps into Mighty hurricane, pure and simple. If they are jumping out of it, I adjust to not cancelling my tri-jump, causing an aerial Mighty hurricane to come out and snatch them.

Yeah, the assist I was using was Dante’s Crystal and it lasted long enough for Thor to drop down, which was right after the block part was finished for the 1 frame grab. Probably a one time thing though, like you said, especially against a good blocker. I like the empty jump hurricane. Didn’t think about not cancelling the tri-jump. Sounds good.

So for the Haggar pipe, I’m trying that out right now, but it’s looking like not at all. That block stun is just too great to punish with a hurricane on the ground or in the air.
