Anyone who knows me on SRK here knows I have been waiting for Thor for ages. 
I do agree with you however.
I always felt people were sleeping on him for a while. And I mean comatose rest. I always knew in the back of my head though, that “he does too much damage, has too much health, and has too many tools to just suck.” And 1 100% reset combo later, here we are. Though the doubt is understandable. Not many times in fighters does the somewhat sluggish n’ slow bruiser be amazing (Or at least used a lot at high-level play). But then again, he is a GOD.
The same goes for some other characters who have yet had their time to shine. Felicia is starting to get some more backing finally. It’s just Cap, Ryu and Haggar now. sighs due to 2 of the 3 being potential mainstays

Its just Thor didn’t get nearly as much attention last year as he’s getting now.
Anyone who posted back in the old thread knows I vouched for him constantly since the beginning; and now ppl are seeing the things he can do and the thread activity skyrockets
Honestly the only reason people were talking shit on Thor was because people are impatient these days. Seriously its like a couple people got to play a few matches with him and they were all like "blaahhhh this guy blows!’ and then everyone takes their word for it. This is why I take pre-launch thoughts about characters with a grain of salt… sure some of them may have validity behind them, but you don’t figure out what all a character really has to offer after 1 hour.

Same shit will happen with Phoenix. No matter how blatantly stupid the stuff she has, what are people going on about currently? Her health. Why? YouTube. One video where she dies in one combo. In a week, what will the bandwagon be going on? Her 100%s, resets, crossups, traps, chips, etc. Why? YouTube. In several videos posted by people that don’t suck.
But anyway…
It kinda sounds like the super-jump Mighty Strike into airdash sounds similar to MvC2 system mechanic where you could only do one special in a normal jump. Does Thor have type of pressure or added combos at all with his flight mode? Or is that mighty shenanigans only?
No, he was actually rubbish before, prior to the CES build he wasn’t very good. I mean I understand we are all glad that he got buffed and he is better now, but lets not forget that capcom actually acknowledged he was rubbish and buffed him later. And its not like people were calling him rubbish cause they lost or something, he was a grappler with a terrible command grab, not very good flight, sub-par projectile, meh normals, and his command grab hyper was a level 3 before. Its one thing to look at someone like arthur who despite constantly losing with him you can see his tools and potential and look at someone like thor who has all the aforementioned bad tools.

They chose to based one on Thor Girl. That’s a pleasant surprise. I’m disappointed that he doesn’t have one based on Loki or Odin
Prior to the CES build, we only saw two people that weren’t bad, and only one of them actually knew how to do Mighty Strike. And even the ones that were bad were still doing 60% off of baby combos in the TGS build. The only real fix I ever heard was his grab.
I would bet money if s-kill or trag didnt put vids up, people would still be saying Thor is trash.

Thors tridash is better than magnetos because since it is actually a bit slower you can do it lower and still have his j.a hit and combo after it
Also its pretty easy to cross up with thors tridash a then combo into c.a->c.c into something
what i think hurts thor is how he can not chain multiple s.a’s or c.a’s

I agree 100%. I posted vids exclaiming that this character was good, when I went to ATL and played as him…and even still was faced with adversity. I’m keeping Thor in my team for sure.
Coming from SFIV I can’t really understand how the juggles work in this game… What prevents to the player to do the Magneto combo infinitely on the video? Can’t you just repeat the Hyper Grav > Launcher > Air combo > Hyper Grav (“the grav loop combo”) over and over again?
No you cant. There is hitstun scaling in this game. The longer a combo goes the less likely youll be able to continue it.
You can only do 2-3 loops of that before they just recover out of it.
They did that to protect against infinites but damage is so high in this game it doesnt matter.
You can only call each assist once per combo I believe. Someone verify this.
