Im sorry but I gotta disagree with that, at CES when people played him the overall impression was he got buffed. Yea there were still some nay sayers here and there, but thats the way it is for every character, the overall feeling had gotten a lot more positive after his CES buffs. Thor could always do damage, but without the tools to get in and do said damage he wasn’t gonna win too many games ya dig?
But at the end of the day bro, people can only relate to what they have seen or heard at this point. If a dude who has played the game comes in here and says thor sucks, you can’t really argue with him since you haven’t played the game yet, so you can’t really fault the people who didn’t believe in thor till they were shown what he was capable off.
@Humbag: Thanks for the vids bro, good to know his tri-dash is gonna have some applications. One question though, since you say he struggles with pressure I am gonna assume none of his moves have invincibility or super armor then? If thats the case, need less to say I am disappoint.
I havent tested every move yet. His command grab super is fast but its not good to use in that situation.
The magneto style otg super might be ok but im not sure. His specials all have start up. Maybe the light version of the arcing special move might work. Thor might need to have something like Haggar lariat assist.
Oh well I guess it fits his play style anyway since hes incredibly offensive, I was also wondering(sorry for all the questions) would thors mighty tornado DHC into hyper sentinel force? Kinda like how storm and sent DHCed back in the day? Cause that my friend would be all kinds of awesome if so. Plus been thinking bout pairing thor with sent, figured with the sentinel force assist, a good AA get of me assist and thors projectile you might even be able to play a pseudo keep away game.
yeah i was just thinking that because of the reveal trailer had thor doing j.c into strike, land, then launch. very powerful if an overhead / tkable…thor’s options start getting crazy lol
That is sad BUT, good low killer I imagine and it starts combos, just one more thing to tinker with. Thanks for testing that out! I had some reset ideas but, after learning about the tech, it seems they won’t work.
mighty strike on block gives a good deal of frame advantage
thor may be able to do regular air throw, OTG vertical down mighty strike, s.B>E, etc.
also, ground throw, vertical up mighty strike, (opponent flips), airdash upforward, command grab, etc.
i think the secret to OTGs in this game is that the OTG has to be a super/special or certain command normals like gunshots (chris/wesker). although i’ve seen felicia otg with c.A (?) so maybe not. shrugs
good good good. Is that the charged version of Mighty Strike, or even the fast version? I was very much hoping for this.
Also, can anyone verify that the vertical and horizontal air versions of Mighty Strike can in fact OTG? That would be awesome for continuing his combos after the knockdown from air series->:s:
i should have stated i meant air mighty strike. not to sure what all the differences are inbetween the charged/non-charged air/ground versions other than frame advantage. i’m guessing hitstun. we’ll know for certain when the guidebook is released.
No offense, but I can and will fault people for being unimaginative YouTube followers. The same way I fault all the early SFIV Cammy players that thought she was bad until a YouTube video also showed what she was (obviously) capable of.
It’s a failure at both critical thinking and creativity, and this is a significant difference maker between being good and being bad. In short, people need to start using their heads more. These are in-depth games after all, not ‘follow the leader’
I dunno, I think it seems simple: some moves have the OTG property, most don’t. It’s just like in SF where only certain moves, special or not, could hit an opp in juggle state; it was a specific property of that move. The old Marvel mechanic where OTG was based purely on the hitbox of the move seems gone.
i know this probably isn’t related much to gameplay
but why has thor been so ignored outside of comics?
i mean he never appears in a cartoon unless it’s to be a guest star or on a team like the avengers
To be honest Thor has the same problem that Doctor Strange has, he is TOO strong to easily write for, he can’t regularly battle the mainstray of marvel characters because on a level playing field he would win against everything short of demons and cosmics etc.
I was thinking about a strat for Thor: what about pairing him up with an assist that pops the opponent into the air (Joe, Ryu, Morrigan, etc.), such that he can move in with an air dash while calling the assist, and if it hits, the opponent is popped up to meet him where he can hit with the air command grab into whatever he wants?
Also considering pairing Thor with Dorm, so that he can move in behind the projectile blocking properties of Dark Hole. Would definitely need a faster character for a third, though.
