FC NYChrisG Should receive a yellow card, have evo seed points revoked, etc

It’s about dat paypuh.

The most important thing about the EVO ruling is whether or not motivation should be factored in.

Regardless what you may believe not everyone is going to see eye to eye on what motivates a person to just give up a fight.
Allowing subjectivity to determine penalties creates more confusion, frustration and dissention than just making having a penalty for observable actions.

ChrisG should be yellow carded if EVO wants to make it clear they aren’t going to be subjective about what type of sandbagging matters.

I didn’t watch the beginning of the KOF grand finals so I didn’t realize ChrisG was going random but some of his matches were pretty close even though he lost all of them.
I didn’t know he was sandbagging until I came across this thread.

I was more annoyed when he was on tilt in the MK Grand Finals and sandbagged the third match after both his Reptile and Noob got blown up. His unfamiliarity with Sektor should’ve made me him go analyze which of the two characters he had the most success with and pick the lesser of the two evils instead of playing a character he never uses.

Also let’s not forget there was some douchebag doing random pauses in MK which obviously put Chris on tilt.

Before this thread I knew he wasn’t playing seriously towards the end.

Subjectively speaking and based on those initial observation I wouldn’t think he shouldn’t be penalized since being tilted does happen and it was self evident that Bala would win but I would understand if EVO organizers did give him a yellow card. Powerup will dictate whether or not these rulings are based on simple cause and effect or require more judical review.

welcome to videogames

As a KOF player, I feel offended by Chris’s behavior.

Chris G said his inputs stopped working during MK GF(was the input bugged fixed in that game?)

Make a thread where everyone can be offended.

This thread is dumb because Evo doesn’t care how Sonic Hurricane feels about the situation. They will make a decision and that will be that.

I really don’t give a shit about the spectator experience, but he either needs to be penalized for consistency or the rule needs to be done away with. No point in having rules that you don’t or can’t enforce consistently.

Should be interesting how they go about it if they decide to go that route.

"Well Momochi, we see that you punched Noel in the face and that’s technically illegal. However, you did it for the sake of world peace so we’re gonna let it rock.

Also we know what your motivation was because we can read minds."

“And like your fight with Sky, it was not real but rather it was a battle in your mind.”

Stream monsters are not being unreasonable in asking for an entertaining grand finals where both players try their best. It’s not even stream monsters… it’s everyone. Live spectators want to see a good match. The other competitors who were knocked out want to see the finals of the tournament come to a satisfying conclusion, and want to see the game they like given the treatment they think it deserves.

Whether it’s worth a yellow card or not I dunno. But this type of behavior is not something that should be encouraged or shrugged off. If my company sponsored ChrisG to go to this tournament and he did that, I wouldn’t be too happy.

If you know(?) you’re going to get destroyed with your Main team, is it legit or not to try the Dasrik “You Can’t Counter Crazy” routine?

stream monsters get a free service

that’s all

If you don’t agree that there is a blantant gap in skill level between Bala and Chris G then something is very wrong with what you have been watching. Only someone with his head in the sand would deny that Chris G is the underdog and Bala is the champ. Something like Bala vs Reynald, Romance or Mr KoF would be more arguable, but not Chris G.

I agree that Bala is far and away better than Chris G in terms of KOF skill. I simply don’t think that it matters as far as enforcing rules is concerned. It’s not rocket science. There are rules, and they need to be enforced uniformly.

What the MK9 “input bug” does is that sometimes when you press down+Button the game sometimes inputs neutral+Button instead.
Maybe Chris G had controller/console issues. But that doesn’t sound like the usual input bug.

Maybe in Marvel.

So, according to some people here, only stream monsters care about the spirit of competition, is that it? What exactly was the scene built on if not doing your best and playing to win?

Guess everyone should just go back to playing games in their homes, because who gives a fuck, right?

I didn’t see him giving up - did you? I saw him pick some random ass characters, potentially hoping to random out a victory, and I see him barely lose, with the announcers mentioning “Boy ChrisG is fucked right now he’s got about no hope in this matchup.”

I think a pretty good rule addition to the Evo rule set would be “no random select characters in top 8” or something like that. But fuck, dude, I have won tourney matches against fantastic players by pretty much random selecting part of my team. “I have no hope against Rattana. I will pick Chun Li. Wow, that worked. I’ll pretend like this was planned. God rest your brilliant soul, Dasrik.”

Is someone willing to back ChrisG ft5 against Bala? Because if you think ChrisG was tanking, I think you have to say that you would. Otherwise the dude is trying to win the lottery through accidentally figuring out something tenable.

I also appreciate that this thread was made by some random troll. Grow some balls.

Did Justin Wong make this thread?

this is only an issue because of consistency

it’s stupid to penalize players for throwing games. if they made it that far on their skill, they’ve earned the right to do whatever they want. justin shouldn’t have been punished either. but because they punished him people are gonna be like “why this dude but not this dude?” unless you can read minds or are gonna make all sorts of dumb sub rules it just looks really stupid all around.

what they really should do is say “we shouldn’t have punished justin, that was pretty dumb. we’re not gonna punish anyone else in the future because we can’t actually read minds.”

then everyone is happy. except the “stream monsters deserve a good match” and the “let’s grow the community people” I guess.

well lucky you dont make the rules eh
