FC NYChrisG Should receive a yellow card, have evo seed points revoked, etc

Speculation is a funny thing. Its tough to try and genuinely prove that someone was throwing a match, truly in their mind and knew they were deliberately throwing it. Collectively Evo decided Justin was, and you have decided Chris G is. My point is you can’t claim “pure speculation” on one thing and not have it thrown back at you. And even you can agree there was more consequence to the Justin situation than measly old Chris G, no offense to him.

Honestly dude you brought up an interesting topic earlier but I personally feel its been settled, but you just keep digging a stupid ric from sk thread style hole deeper and deeper. I mean, no, keep talking; I’m sure you’ll convince everyone. Honest.

I agree, to the point that people are arguing about this… just deal with it. It happened, ChrisG is being ChrisG and what happened to Justin Wong, happened to Justin Wong.

and no one is arguing about this, then oh, well. It still happened. (Just expressed my opinion on what happened)

Fact is that evo needs to set a precedent. I think a warning would be appropriate. I don’t think a yellow card is needed right now, now that I reflect on the situation.

Honestly, the best part about this is THAT IT’S ONLY HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE.

So, maybe EVO not doing anything IS them setting the precedent.

1-NYChrisG is probably sayin to himself at this very moment "why on god’s green earth didn’t i just forfeit that match!?!?!"
2-NYChrisG is a great player and competitor. if he could have won, he would’ve. if he didn’t try hard enough in your eyes to win, its because he felt he didn’t wanna expend energy and raise his stress levels in a match he assumed was hopeless to win.
3-this thread was created for trolling reasons and has gone on for way too many pages. the joke thread went bad when it got to page 3 length
4-its such a trolliditing thread even i don’t wanna troll on it. its that much of a shitstain on the front pages of the forums.
5-can some mod close this shit thread already. it serves no purpose whatsoever, and its non-factual baseless biased opinionated nonsense.

why the fuck is this thread 7 pages. y’all niggas should be practicing

I don’t think you know what a ‘fact’ is.

and I dont think you know when to shut up.

seriously, who the fuck uses throwaway accounts on SRK. aint that shit against the rules.

you keep talking about the integrity of the game and how this incident is similar to JWongs/Noel, and it isnt, so cut the BS out already.

Did Chris G not entertain you?

why people are so obsessed with this shit ill never understand

You act like you never held a discussion before.

People who think he shouldn’t get a yellow card:

Do you think Justin should have gotten one?

Because two positions on this issue I can understand. I can understand the “they can do whatever the fuck they want, they paid the entry fee and fought their way through the tournament” position. And I can understand the “it’s an insult to the people watching and playing to do that” position. I don’t really agree with the second, but I understand it and it seems consistent.

What I don’t understand is people who are like “yeah but the situations are different, this isn’t like the Justin situation.” Like, do you really believe that one of them deserved a yellow card and the other doesn’t? Is the argument really “we can figure out by watching what everyone was thinking and whether it was legit or not?” What is the threshold of trying to win? What’s the cutoff line? Do you take player history into account? ChrisG plays Sean in 3s. Justin has played Dan in an important match. What’s legit?

Drawing some arbitrary line doesn’t make sense to me. Either decide that people can do whatever they want, or decide that everyone has to try 100% of the time and make specific rules about what constitutes trying. Personally I think the first option is a lot better. Like they always say “if you don’t like what the top players are doing, show up and beat them.”

The situations are only similar in about three ways.

 1. Chris G and Justin looked like they threw a match.
 2. These events happened very late in their respective tournaments.
 3. These events, funny enough, happened at Powerup.

After that the similarities are really blurred. Chris and Bala don’t really have any pre-existing relationship that would benefit either one. Bala didn’t really need Chris to throw anything to win.

Relevant Evo Rule

Spoiler

Collusion of any kind with your competitors is considered cheating. If the Tournament Director determines that any competitor is colluding to manipulate the results or intentionally underperforming, the collaborating players may be immediately disqualified. This determination is to be made at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director. Anyone disqualified in this manner forfeits all rights to any titles or prizes they might have otherwise earned for that tournament.

Now this rule is actually pretty badly worded. At a glance “colluding to manipulate the results” is pretty straightforward.

However, the problem is that “Intentionally Underperforming” is by itself, causing doubt in the rule. However, this is attached to an overall rule on colluding. So it’s safe to assume, right? I dunno. I think this one needs a re-write, considering that, with the current wording, you can read it as “The Tournament Director determines that any competitor is intentionally underperforming…”

No

this.

post 2k9 scrubs and their little drama is too funny. fuck outta here with that shit. if I wanna ‘sandbag’ I will sandbag. I made it this far so I should have that kind of power. dont like it then stop watching. you are not owed anything.

[S]@[/S]NYChrisG [S]@[/S]skisonic ya and I got a yellow card and I will always pick my main shit at EVO quals for now on since I don’t want to get carded

[S]@[/S]NYChrisG [S]@[/S]skisonic I am sorry if I offended you in anyway though Chris. I know thats how you play but we playing for spectators now!!!

[S]@[/S]J4Yx2 [S]@[/S]NYChrisG [S]@[/S]skisonic it aint up to me, its the stream monsters fault. Before SF4 you can do whatever you want but now its different…

Seeing anyone feel that way sucks.

I found that whole conversation really funny.

https://twitter.com/#!/skisonic/status/191666458177191937 this one is funny too. It’s before Justin had time to cool down.

okay, sounds good to me.

in that case, gotta ask SonicHurricane “would you give a shit if this didn’t happen to Justin last year.”

like, is this a “he broke the rules and is RUINING OUR COMMUNITY” thing or not? I’m all good with people saying “this is proof that the rule is stupid” but if you actually think randoming characters in a tournament should be grounds for punishment then “I dunno LOL.”

I just think the rule should be clarified. It can definitely be interpreted as intentionally underperforming can result in a yellow card. I’m just curious what EVO2k staff will rule.

also, I think sonichurricane is trolling really hard.

I mean, it’s a good discussion, but damn man.

I have a theory that SonicHurricane is actually Chris G in disguise trying to make such a scene, and trying to cause such a big shit in this thread that it looks really really good in his favor :stuck_out_tongue:

A simple no or yes will suffice for the question that I am going to ask, but if this didn’t happen on stream would it even matter? I know that Grand Finals will never not be on stream at a Major but it is a Hypothetical question.

I doubt it.
